ENFP here: As far as "going on a rant" about something I know EXACTLY what you're talking about... I literally lose myself, I'm listening to myself, and I'm discovering connections within myself as they happen. It's as if the feedback of the current context allows me to further throw myself into the future and discover truth I didn't quite... have in that particular flavor. It's the most enjoyable experience I've ever had. I love it. It's joy. It's serenity. It's transcendence.
Do you ever interview yourself in your head? And kind of forget you're doing it? Like I imagine myself talking to someone, without even being focused on that person because I'm so focused on my sub vocalization. Speech is one of the most uplifting tools.
Having just stumbled upon your videos, I'd have to say it's quite enjoyable to watch. As an ENFP it's almost strange to hear discussion of getting too caught up in yourself as you talk. It's a very unreal feeling, like you say, to just talk and words flow through your mouth just exactly as you thought, but at the same time aware that you are the one speaking. You then attempt to listen to yourself, and that in itself is strange. Awesome dialog, I'll watch more.
You guys are adorable! I was laughing and smiling the whole time. Like the other answer said you definitely give off a feeling of warm and authenticity. You two are exactly like me and my infj friend, except i'm an infp(:
omigosh that happens to me whenever I give a public speech. It freaks me out, I will be speaking a mile a minute and be able to put together an intellectual lecture together without ANY planning, you sort of feel out of body. and I'm an INFP. ;) Great videos, I've watched a good majority of them :) keep posting!
So glad about the feeling out of body when talking. I always say sometimes I say things that are deep, insightful and healing without realizing I'm saying it. It's almost like I'm talking by just mirroring what needs to be heard.
I'm sorry to hear that. I too had an unpleasant childhood with having parents who couldn't understand and would physically try to make me understand. It hurt me because I felt betrayed and isolated when really an INFJ really do feel alone. They don't say it or share often. There's this lonely mental dam that only few may see though they have so many facets that they reveal or don't reveal for various reasons.
It is cute how you relate :) I think I could kick back all night and watch with a pseudo understanding smirk on my face. Though - it's good for everyone to get out of their comfort zones every now and then.. even.. ISTJs? - INTP Female
I'm an ENFP and I don't feel threatened really. But I see what you mean about the layout, build on that idea. I'm a filmmaker myself and it is fascinating to play with how to set up your shot, how you want to engage with your audience.
Hey what you said about disconnecting and its like you are hearing yourself speak. I am very confidant that im INFJ but there have been times when im cornered into an argument and i do exactly what you just explained. I will think in my head am i really saying this im not supposed to be saying this ive called it auto pilot in the past. Ive also experienced that seeing through people my entire life. Do you know if you've ever been corned if you've gone into "Auto pilot".
@Babiiii89 For each of the letters you can score anywhere on a scale of 0 to 100. The higher the score the more it may become a trait that is somewhat bothersom. You obviously don't score very high on either the I or the E side. You may be I, but just not very introverted.
I'm an INFJ and I work in the oil fields right now. My job essentially is "Plumbing." I think its really hard to pigeonhole INFJ into certain careers. The reason for this is that there is more that goes into who we are as people than just personality types. Education, experiences, environment, etc. all come into play. I have the classic, "what do I want to do when I grow up syndrome." Technical fields do draw more of your annoying here and now types but F's can develop high function T abilities.
Man I thought I was an INFJ until you started talking about how you feel the disconnect sometimes when you talk and now I'm wondering if I am an ENFJ, man, now I don't know who I am. Although since I've never had a great deal of friends I've always assumed I was an Introvert of some sort. Personality is so complex, I feel like I can be everything at some point, so it's hard to pinpoint what I am.
Dammit, you seem to enjoy each others company so much, almost all my friends are NT:s, and I'm like the black sheep of our gang. What would be a good place to look for NF:s? I want what you have! / INFJ
I think with NTs, relating to the concept of authenticity, its moreso detecting honestly as opposed to 'authenticity'. Authenticity is probably too much of a subjective term for NTs as we monitor on the basis of genuineness of how you communicate yourself most likely. The antithesis of that being how some people can be manipulative deliberately with either knowledge or their intellect, not necessarily emotions which is what NFs naturally detect.II guess manipulation is definitely not limited to misuse of intellect but could definitely involve emotional misconduct I guess in terms of mistreatment of others emotional and psychological well being.
I never understood how people could see others as inauthentic or "fake". I think INFJ's will agree with me, people have multiple facets to their personalities.
Well...these were the earliest videos. In addition, what is not apparent, is that I was moving at the time. This is an empty room with just two kitchen chairs and a small table. That's it. There is nothing else in there.
Regarding what the ENFP said about feeling detached from himself and observing himself from the outside, that's pretty much the textbook description of a psychological disorder called depersonalization/derealization. But I guess when it happens to one of us, it's just NF's being NF's.
Once you've learned about the Myers-Briggs, it's helpful to learn socionics, which describes the relations between the types. Socionics uses different letters, but they are describing the same types. An ENFP is an IEE, and an INFJ is an EII.
*Honesty. and I just realised how communicating yourself genuinely may sound the same as authenticity but I basically meant how valid you remain. Using manipulation just brings others further from truth which is what NTs should be against in all fairness. Allowing freedom of rational thought because its only logical to treat others with this same autonomy that you require. NT ethics is so funny when compared with NF ethics. Political philosophy is a proabably going to yield good examples of NT dialectics being constructed to accommodate their own and others rights etc.
I felt very uncomfortable (in a delightful way) having pointed a finger at me getting told to be more authentic Dx YEAH I know I got problems with that LET ME JUST HANDLE THAT I (think I) can do that..!
Also, I am obsssed with personality types. I'm always trying to figure out what personality type someone else is. One of my best friends is of course, ENFP...what a surpirise. Even though I am a Blue Collar worker on the surface, I'm not a highly competitive boustrous simpleton fighting for rank in the most superficial ways like many of your less intelligent knuckle draggers.....lol...I think they are ESTJ's?12 kids with different women and they are concerned about a spec of dirt on their car
Actually, being a very stereotypical ENFP, I have to disagree Most ENFP like me, are genuinely intrigued by people, by people's minds. We love to observe the dynamics and relations between people and inside people's minds. Having said that, we have a tendency to both observe from a distance, but also to be engaged with the people themselves. Also, I study psychology, and you are a textbook description of "Hurr Durr I learned something new I'll use this knowledge wherever I think applicable"
I used the words your and their to refer to NTs in same sentence -_- going back over your own messages for consistency when youve already posted is an NT cliché no doubt! Specifically intp I suspect although were probably only grammar nazis to our own posts (:
I loved this video. You guys have a great chemistry. And, you guys made me laugh soooo hard.... especially when you were ragging on the SPs and SJs. I know it's wrong to stereotype people, but I couldn't help but laugh because there is so much truth in these type stereotypes. And, it's so unusual to find male NFs so I thought it particularly interesting to watch my male NF brethren in action. - Esoteric Wench (ENFP)
My messages keep disappearing. Hatng google right now.. anyway what i said was how I think with NTs relating to the concept of authenticity, its moreso detecting honesty to NTs rather than 'authenticity' which NFs detect emotionally and thus authenticity is a subjective term. By honesty, I said communicating yourself genuinely as in not being dishonest to a large extent or on matters regarding data etc... XD not being manipulative because 'aint nobody got time for that' but dishonesty to a certain extent ceases to have rational bases ethically.. Although nobody doesn't 'not' lie at some point. Vulcan NTs: I did not tell an untruth, I merely avoided telling the whole truth. Another thing is how both NTs and NFs may judge you as a person but NFs are more interested in if you have shared and/or acceptable moral values to avoid conflict whereas NTs are more interested in your ideas and whether you have a head on your shoulders to interpret your ideas maybe on an equally rational basis on par to their own. In relationships 'mindmate' in comparison to 'soulmate'.

I'm an INFP. My mom was an ENFP (best type to be a mother, IMO) and my bro is an INFJ. NFs are awesome!
I'm an ENFP that married an INFJ. Been a great 26 years. Didn't know anything about MB at the time. But we struck it just right.

I don't have much to add but as an INFJ with the exact same Radiohead shirt, I must give kudos.
hey dave and mike! can you make other videos? really hoping videos about NTs...especially NT girls (i'm an INTP girl :) )
you guys are awesome!
Awesome. :) As an INFP, I love that feeling of comfort and authenticity you guys give off.
Poor sensors… ;)
What happened to Dr Mike???

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. From a fellow and true ENFP.
I have a feeling that only NF's are watching videos about their personalities!

Awesome Radiohead shirt.
Where are the NFs near me? I cannot wait to meet and connect....

@metasoap I've had that out of body experience giving presentations too. Always wondered about that. Wonder if that's an N thing.
The part where Dave was all "WE LOOOOOVE YOU!" I was just like: "yep, infj"
linked this to enfpforum XD I love the interaction between INFJs and ENFPs.

What is it that causes some to obsess over their assumed type...
YES! Total band for NF types. Me (ENFP) and my INFP sister love them!
Who's here from 2017 😂😂🤙🏽
I never understood how people could see others as inauthentic or "fake". I think INFJ's will agree with me, people have multiple facets to their personalities.

"It is sort of like you´re listening to yourself talk"
This happens to me as an INFJ as well, my ENTP brother thought I was a lunatic when I told him.
He sort of does this exactly while he's explaining it lol

As an ENFP, I would gladly and happily take that bet.
Yeah...I love INFj. I think ENFP/INFJ is a great NF team.
Pathology is just a paradigm and not everything is pathological. It is actually a common experience among ENFP's.
NFGeeks with Dr. Mike! Explain!
I love you guy too. you rule
I felt very uncomfortable (in a delightful way) having pointed a finger at me getting told to be more authentic Dx YEAH I know I got problems with that LET ME JUST HANDLE THAT I (think I) can do that..!
I've saying that in class for years.
NF love.
I've managed to put together a social defense shield... but it's not very good.
Hurray NF!
