- In todays video we do a cambelt kit change. The kit consists of belt, water pump, tensioner and pulleys. I have no history to suggest that the belt has been changed so no point taking the risk, lets just swap it out!

You don't need sealer on the o ring on the water pump. The o ring is the seal. Also don't replace the studs leave the original ones in. They are not stretch bolts or studs so can be reused. I have done 100s of theses and other vw engines and removing the old studs can pull the threads out of the aluminium head as they fit them with locktite from factory and then it's a real fun job to drill and tap and helicoil or time sert the hole in the head so you can use the tensioner as you cannot make the hole in the tensioner bigger, the stud has to be m8. time sert works best. Drill the wrong angle and game over for that head. It's hard and you have no room against the chassis leg to get a normal drill in there. You need a right angled adapter and time and patience. Learned my lesson after this has happened 2 times. I'm not the only one. Many many many people have seen this issue so we all now know rule of thumb is if they aren't damaged in anyway them leave the original ones in. Never ever been a problem for anyone. Otherwise good video.
Interesting video, keep the content coming. Maybe do a VW Golf mark 7 next.
Looks fantastic 👍🏻
(I'm not keen on the dog breathing in carbon monoxide like.... )
But it looks like you've done a great job.
Doing mine nxt week. I have to say that you completely sucked all the fun out of that job.
Helpful video thank you, where would I be able to find the same instructions for my 2014 Audi please? I’m also replacing my timing belt and need to know the torque settings, amongst running the belt through the pulleys. If you could help that would be great!
Do you do this in your spare time or is it your business premises?
Hi does the mark 7 golf have the same engine layout as this cos I've heard that the water pump is on the other side of the engine many thanks.
hello mate, looking to do my cambelt but cannot find the interval of when it should be done. Dont suppose you know the timing belt interval for this do you?
Mate where can I get the torque settings for the Cambelt?
Another good vid mate. How long did it all take?
Hi Nick, probably about 5 hours in total 👍
how much did you charge for this job including parts?
Why the engine management sign appears on screen???
If you as a garage dun the canbelt and week later the car stop working and aa has a loom and the canbelt is lose it your falt yes or no
Did you need to run the aux coolant pumps via vcds to bleed the coolant system properly?
No just the usual way, fan on high heat control turned to the highest and let it warm up until thermostat opened.
Audi procedure is to use a vacuum system to pull the fluid through the pipework.
Pull the fluid through the pipe work🤔🤔🤔.
Interesting! Im being sarcastic that sounds like absolute rubbish.
Would you share those papers with me ? I'm doing mine and I've messed it up because I waw a donut and used drill bits instead.
I changed mine it wont start now it turn and sparks but just doesn’t start
Hi, how much time you spent to change cambelt?
The audi guide lines say it should take no less than 5 hours.
When looking at the other side of the engine, opposite side to cam belt, there is what looks like a cover of some sort at the end of the cams, whats behind there mate? I'm getting a rattle/tick from there 🤔
I think if I remember rightly the cambelt only attaches to one can on the left of the engine, which would mean on the right hand side there will be a small chain connecting the 2 cams together.
@@SeriousAboutSalvage perfect, thanks mate 👍 great video by the way 🍻
@@SeriousAboutSalvage hey. I have a question, is that small chain the timing chain? Or one of them? Maybe the rattle is coming from a stretched chain ?
@@MrShaunys1210 question my friend. Did you get that rattling noise resolved? I have the same noise
@@spliffkay8626 hi mate it turned out to be the tensioner on the little cam chain.
Try a little fixer upper👍
👍
I have an issue with my heaters, only blow cold when engine at full temp (90*c) its CRB engine code....had the cam belt n water pump done but hasnt cured it.....heater matrix possibly?? I'm scratching my head at this point...
Try filling your engine cooling water tank up. When fluid is too low the heater matrix will have no coolant in it. So blows cold!
@@mrparker6362 it was the matrix after all...it was full of limescale and rusty orange gunk so coolant couldnt pass through it. It was fairly fiddly to install but sorted the blower issue immediately...spoke to a vag mechanic and he said it was a common fault on these engines and that the previous owner was putting tap water directly into the system which destroys the metal internals overtime.
Will the gates kit work well with this model ?
Yes gates is a good brand has been around for a very long time. Most cars will get a gates belt and pulley kit fitted when you take to garage to be done. Unless you ask for genuine audi parts.
I done 50. Engine euzy pizzy
Why does it need to be changed?
On these the replacement interval is every 140,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first.
Would you do mine ?👍
Waterpump bolts are 20nm + 45°
Get something other than an Audi, you fanboy ;-)
Haha, somthing like a veloster turbo maybe? 😎
@@SeriousAboutSalvage maybe a Golf GTI?
@@SeriousAboutSalvage let me crash it first, brb
