    We have a huge video for you today! We are replacing the timing chain in our 2.0t mqb a3! We are definitely early on this job, but we have a leak that needed some TLC, so while we are in there we might as well do the timing chain.
    While we encourage everyone to get their hands dirty, this job is definitely
    for those of you who are advanced and ready for a challenge. lol Hopefully this video can give you the confidence and guidance you need to complete it successfully!
    Let us know if you have any questions or if you need any clarification.
    Thank you for watching and supporting the progress!
    Make sure to stay #BDTTuned until next time!

    great video, maybe next time you can insert images of the tools we need, i know it can be done without some speciality tools, but us noobs need to get all the tools sometimes.
    also what happens if it jumps timing?
    and what year range is this video good for?

    Awesome video! Would like to have seen what the cam phaser adaptation numbers looked like afterwards though 😋

    Great video, very informative! I have to do a lower timing chain cover on mine and this is going to be my reference point 😀. One question: Isn't the harmonic balancer seal PTFE? I think I saw you lubricated it and I have read those are supposed to be installed dry so I'm wondering what to do here to avoid leaks in the future? Thanks for the video and I'll forego the T shirt given how far away I am.

    How did you get the flat plane piece off of the timing chain?

  • @MrMLGray

    The 2 lower mount bolts, can you re-use those bolts? If not, where can I purchase them from and the torque specs as well?

    • @boostdynamictuning
      @boostdynamictuning  Год назад

      If they're torque to yield... meaning you out a 90-degree turn on it. Those ones you can't reuse. If it's just a torque spec no degrees, then yes, you can reuse. Just out blue loctite on it.

    Thanks for the very informative video. I have a 2017 Audi A3 with the base 2.0 TFSI, When would you recommend a timing chain replacement? 60.000 Miles? James from Canada 🇨🇦

      Not a problem! Glad I could help.
      I would look into vcds and look at cam phasing
      It's not really a mileage based thing. It's more jusy the comments getting old and wear.

    how much would it cost ? and how much time ?

    Going to do the lower timing cover do I need to remove upper motor mount? Or can I get away with coming at the all the bolts from the bottom ?

    • @boostdynamictuning
      @boostdynamictuning  Год назад +1

      Should be able to get all the bolts from the bottom. Now the upper timing chain cover would require engine mount removal.

  • @exoticfire5946

    so in alldata it says after performing work on the chain drive the adapttation value in the ecm must be adapteded is this correct or is that why it has the long crank and will it adapt itself? i have a head gasket job that i am thinking of sending elsewhere over this any responce would be greatly appreciated.

    • @boostdynamictuning
      @boostdynamictuning  Год назад

      Yes you need to erase the adaption. It's not mandatory but should be performed. It's not an easy job that's for sure.

  • @loyloy512
    @loyloy512 Год назад

    Do you have to run any timing chain adaptations on vagcom afterwards?

    • @boostdynamictuning
      @boostdynamictuning  Год назад

      Odis states to do a cam gear test. Which simply resets adaption. You can do this with vcds. Personally do you need to? No. I've done it both ways never saw differences

      @@boostdynamictuning mostly maintenance items in my opinion. Considering there’s nothing online, especially videos. Performance hardware/install is very important too, like stock turbo>hybrid is probably the biggest one!:) would be nice address what else is needed when it comes to maintenance.
