I had a G shock when i was young. Left it at home when i moved out a couple of years ago. I went back to stay for christmas, and get woken up by an insistent beeping at 1 in the morning. Whaddaya know, its the G shock, still working, on time l, and apparently ringing the alarm daily for the last few years.
Now that's a cool story

Treasure it my friend. It’s much more than just a watch now.
Casio watches in general are tough. I have a Casio Duro I wear and a scratched up $20 Casio I use for swimming. The cheap watch I have is scratched to hell and beat up but still works without a problem and better yet has a 10 year battery. Rolex and other brands have good watches but Casio is the Ak-47 of them all. Cheap and reliable, also accurate. Always gets the job done.

Some mother-in-laws are tougher than the G-Shocks. Tried all the tests and applied all the settings with utter failure. And now my wife is typing this comment for me :(

That's very impressive. For those wondering why he's comparing a Casio to a Casio G Shock; it's because Casio G Shock is a tougher quality and more expensive watch where as a regular Casio may have the same functionality, but isn't as tough. A regular Casio with G Shock functionality is around $10-40 tops so it's really impressive to see it hold up to the same tests.

Yes but then again these are not quite what the watch is known for, better underwater functionality, shock resistance, vibration and magnetism resistance, that is G-Shock's forte.

Fun fact-the G shock had double the water resistance rating than the other watch, which would explain why it's gasket held out better under extreme temperature... I'd call the test bisased, get a 200m water resistance Casio and let's see if i'm right...

Very cool test. Allot of data points can be taken from this test. I have a Casio MRW S300W as my EDC. Great little Tough Solar watch for what it cost me, definitely not a G-Shock but does it's job well for my everyday use, I don't abuse my watch but it goes through allot in my everyday work that's a hands on profession. My next Casio will definitely be a Tough Solar again, I'm eying the G-Shock GX56. Again great video.

This video reminded of The Terminator. Both are very good watches. I'm impressed by the extreme temperature torture and both survived. I was so certain that something will be severely damaged especially the circuitry.
Wearing my Rolex Daytona, I never know what day it is. Maybe they add that modern feature some time in the future? Only for $10k extra, I suppose.

Im not sure if this was mentioned or not, but freezing it encased in water was unnecessary and just detracts from the heat shock. Just throw the watch in the freezer for 24 hours or whatever long-term time you pick, take it from the freezer, and submerge into a rapidly boiling pot of water. This will stress the watch more, because the ice surrounding the watch is actually protecting it against the stress.

Pretty sure the boiling and freezing killed all bacterias. It's a good way to clean Gshock watches.

And functionality. If your purchase is based on logic, Casio wins hands down. If your purchase is based on emotion, Rolex wins. In most circumstances however, emotion has more persuasive power than logic.

I own a casio Sgw-100 20bar water resistant.
Even though casio loss this challenge, im still impressed because u just change to new batt and it back to normal.
Casio G shock is up to expectations, with the higher price, casio G shock series was really tough. But still prefer casio outgear series for tough digital watch.

My everyday watch is a Gulfmaster and I love it; I do a lot of fishing and the tide chart, barometer, altimeter , thermometer, and compass work great. However, it's rated at 20bar, that's a saturation dive and it lacks a helium release valve. G shocks ONLY dive rated watch, the Frogman, even lacks the helium valve, but honestly NOBODY is doing saturation dives with a g shock. If I'm diving, I'm using my Yachtmaster(I don't use it much my uncle gave it to me and he used it for 23 years as a combat swimmer) or I'm using one of my aqua compressors. What's funny is soon as I mention Casio, people laugh until I tell them the badass watch on my wrist is a Casio G Shock Gulmaster!!!

I think the title is pretty clear as it is. Its not rocket science, G-Shocks are their own line among other Casio watches (like Protrek is its own line).

I planned on taking a dip in some of the geothermal pools at Yellowstone, so it's good to know that this can survive boiling temperatures.
Try that in a hot pool in New Zealand and the Maoris will steal it!
Finally, great test. If the watches can survive these then they can handle any real life situations. You should submit the G-Shock tests to them and ask them to use the footage for a commercial. ✌️😁

Well, we don't actually know the temperature in the freezer. It is entirely possible to encounter colder conditions irl, which may still affect batteries.

I would use a G-Shock but the bulkiness of it is so unpleasant for me, I prefer minimalist watches. I personally used to use a Casio Quartz but now using a Fossil Q Hybrid.
