When I reported to my first ship 25 years ago, my Chief told to get two things that I would need by my side 24/7. A leatherman pocket tool, and g-shock. I wore a square g shock and leatherman tool every day of my 24 year Navy career. They got me through 6 overseas deployments on ships and a boots on ground deployment with the Army in 2008. They are reliable, rugged, and accurate. I can’t say enough good things about these watches.

I have appreciated and worked on and repaired and serviced countless watches from all price categories. It's nice that the mechanical is still around for historical reasons but every one I worked on or owned was beyond fragile and under-engineered and ultimately unreliable, the definitive watchmakers mentality. It's almost a secret that is never discussed. The G-Shock was actually engineered by an outsider free of pre-ordained watch mentality. The average G-Shock $100 square is the best watch on the planet. Most mechanical watches over several thousand dollars today are pure nonsense and fodder, usually for the individual with too much money and/or something to prove.

I have a DW-5600BB which I will be upgrading to a GW-M5610BC for the solar and radio sync so that I really never have to worry about it ever again. I think everyone should own a G-Shock because you are eventually going to be in that situation where you need a watch that just won't quit. You can literally freeze the watch solid for hours, immediately put it into boiling water and then throw it at a brick wall as hard as you can and it will still work. With so many models it's almost impossible to not find a G-Shock you will like.

I just got my first g shock about a month ago. I own the gd350. It has a vibrating alarm that wakes me (but not my wife or kids) up for 4:30am workouts. I love it so much, I have owned other casios in the past, including the casio duro, which I still own and wear quite regularly. The thing that really sunk in for me about the g shock line is the utility of it. There are so many models that have different functions, you can most certainly find one to fit your exact needs/wants. It is the all time example of a tool wrapped around your wrist. This is one of the main reasons you see them in all branches of the military, fire fighters, police, EMT, etc. That and the fact you can rely on them all day in any circumstance. No watch in my "collection" does what my g shock will do. And now, I will always have to own one. Thanks for the video.

I have a 2 generation gshock that just quit on me after 22 years. It's my favorite whatever watch the screen has a bunch of pits from welding. I just got to brand new outer case and NOS bands I would like to get the glass changed and the watch refurbished. Thanks for sharing this video.

Within my family we have 6 G-Shocks. I have just one but I love it. I bought a second hand GW-1500A, which has a waveceptor and solar. A watch you really do not need to worry about when you just grab it and run out of the house. I cleaned it up and bought JayandKays adapters to use nylon straps.

I’ve recently purchased an AWGM100 analog model with the blue bezel, solar and a function that sets itself with perfect time. Wearing it for 2 days now and I freaking love the thing. Beautiful watch. I still have my 5600 square model that I’ve owned since 2016 and refuses to die. Still looks brand new.

My current model is the GW2310FB-1CR. I like mechanical watches, and I appreciate the craftsmanship and quality, but the G shock to me is the ultimate watch. You put it on, and never have to worry about taking it off. They can automatically adjust the time with multi band 6, solar powered so you never have to worry about a battery, and they’re almost indestructible. The perfect watch.

I had bought a cheap $10 watch at Target to tell time at my warehouse job, unfortunately, it cracked and broke after about a month of use. I decided to invest in a G-Shock 5600 with a steel frame and I'm absolutely loving it, this thing is indestructible!

My first G-Shock was a DW-5200 that I got back in the late 1980's. I wore that watch for years occasionally changing either the band or the bezel whenever they broke. I stopped wearing it mostly because I took a desk job and I could always see the time on either a computer or my phone. However, I just received my brand new DW-5600E because I want to get away from so many screens. As soon as I took the 5600 out of its box the nostalgia started washing over me. Man, this watch is beautiful! BTW, I still own that original DW-5200 and it still works but I can't find reasonably priced bezels for it anymore. :' (

I've been a watch wearer for about 48 years. I don't like relying on my phone or computer for the time and I would never stop looking at my wrist expecting to see the time or date. Can't teach this old dog new tricks.

Definitely Iconic now. I bought their first solar/atomic model at Costco, still works fine. Then added a surf/tide model (black & white) with multi-band 6. Then added a Analog solar/multi-band 6 that is quite dressy. Casio is always adding functions, creating looks to the G-Shock line. Now you have Bluetooth and GPS, and much more! And they are dependable & accurate, you get your moneys worth (and then some).

I've been a real G-Shock fan for quite a while. While I'm fascinated by 'fine' mechanical watches, what I wear are G-Shocks and Pro treks. A finely finished luxury watch just won't stay that way on my wrist. Realistically.
A while back I had a watch from a well known mid priced brand that features a lot of "military grade" ad copy, when I opened it to change a battery, inside it was really no different than any other quartz watch, the Ronda movement just held in place by a simple plastic shell. By comparison, the G-Shocks have purpose built movements and complex energy absorbing casing structures. Where it counts.

I purchased my 3rd G-Shock, a Rangeman 3410 GW-9400, in 2015 and its still going. I wear it everywhere, it's survived 8 years of Buffalo NY Winters, tailgating the Buffalo Bills (no table diving), swimming, hiking, 2 tough Mudders and over 85,000 miles of motorcycling through rain, sleet, hail & snow! It's one durable watch, It only fails in the dress watch category 🙂.

I've owned Casio watches since my mom and dad gave me first watch when I was 6yrs old. A Swatch is what got me started, then on and off for the last 15yrs I have worn the DW-290 and the F91-W. Just recently I got my first G-Shock ever, here I am at 27yrs old and I purchased a GD-350-8! It has been my only watch since purchasing it. I never liked the look of these things from a fashion point of view, but they look like a piece if gear straight from Star Wars, and that's just cool! 😎

For general use when working I wear G-Shock watches. I keep buying these to have watches with different features. They are not expensive and they are great watches. They are good value for using, accuracy, and features. I like the solar watches. It is difficult to break one of these with general use. They can take a beating compared to the others. I think I must have at least twenty of these.

I have a GA-1000-4A (Orange) and a GBA-800-1A (Black). I love them both. The GA-1000 was my first G-SHOCK, I’ve had it for about 4 years. I just recently bought the GBA-800. The Bluetooth feature is great. The watch is always dead accurate and with it’s all black face and white hands, it is extremely readable at a quick glance.
I have my eye on a couple more. I think my next one will be solar and atomic, probably the GWM-5610. I really need to add a digital square to my collection.

You missed MULTI BAND 6 technology that to me is the cherry on top of the awesomeness of G-Shock watches. Basically, everyday at midnight a radio signal is broadcast to the watch that sets the time. So not only do you extreme toughness where you can wear the watch anywhere without thinking about it, a solar battery so you never have to worry about changing it, and a slew of handy features like a timer/stopwatch/other stuff, but you also get unbeatable time accuracy. That's why I love G-Shock watches. They are a no-maintenance watch that don't cost a fortune.
I've owned around 10 different G-Shocks in my life and buy and sell different models depending on my mood.
Right now I own the Gw-S5600-1Jf that's a special-edition square G-SHOCK JDM model with a semi-translucent black case and a super comfy strap with a carbon fiber design (has Multi Band 6)- bit.ly/2NeVoD2
And I have the GW-9300-1JF that is the JDM Mudman. It has Multi Band 6 and the carbon fiber insert for the strap. It's the G-Shock that fits the most comfortable for my wrist. - bit.ly/2mmNFru
Casio has a JDM-only brand called Oceanus that features all the robust features of G-Shock watches and the Multi Band 6 tech, but they're dressier classy watches. You should check them out! This is their one of the popular ones: bit.ly/2Lgen30

I work in the power generation industry and the job requires a tough watch. Started out with a Seiko 5 Sports watch but after some time, sweat ate away at the back plate. Did some research and saw this YT destruction test video about the G Shock GWA 1000 Gravity Master back in 2011. Liked it so I bought it. Still ticking now. But one G will never be enough. I had to have at least 2 to cycle wrist time. I got myself a GW 8200 titanium frogman in 2016, the watch I liked since my college days but can't afford back then. You guessed it. Still ticking. Was considering a Luminox 3801 lately just for a change. Wanted to try something new perhaps. Bought another time piece 2 weeks back. You guessed right again. Got the GWF A1000 analog frogman. If you want a time piece that will last while actually using it, get a G Shock.

I was 12 years old, riding my bike through a small forest near my parent's home, simply called "BMX forest". All of a sudden, I discovered a bright yellow G-Shock DW-003, just lying there in the middle of the road. I looked everywhere, but there was no one around. I even screamed: "Hello!! Did someone just lose their watch?? I found it!!" But nobody answered. I picked it up and further inspected it: It looked near mint, even the yellow NATO strap was fully intact. The only issue was that the battery was dead. I took it home, wrapped it in a plastic bag and thought to myself: "One day, if I got the right tools, I'll buy a spare battery and bring it back to life".
Well, the years passed, I moved several times and the thing got lost between various other stuff in a box somewhere. A few months ago, while searching for other things in my basement, I accidentaly stumbled across this watch that I had totally forgotten about. I ordered the right battery, looked up disassembly tutorials on YT (which wasn't that easy for this watch in particular), then when the battery arrived, finally took it apart and revived it. The feeling I had when I turned it around and it finally showed the time, was indescribable. There's just something mesmerizing and fascinating about G-Shocks, that somehow always brings back the kid in me. I never owned a G-Shock when I was younger, but many other kids I knew did and I loved playing around with theirs, setting alarms, activating the stopwatch or pressing the G-button to illuminate the quartz screen. To this day, I can't wear this yellow oddball without constantly staring at its beautiful dial.
