Hey man, I know this is a basic spark plug video, but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to do this. Simple things like the torque for the bolts, little tips in the second manifold removal video, things to look out for, make my life and others lives easier. It empowers us to do this ourselves instead of paying someone else. Thanks for taking the time, you did a great job. God bless you bro
Thank you for taking the time to type this heartfelt message, it means a lot to me.
I agree!!
Big facts !
Thank you for this content! In the process of tuning up my car/2014 V6.
Thanks bro. I've been hesitant to do my plugs but I think I can tackle it after watching this. You rock!
Don't forget the other video I mentioned to remove the intake manifold to get to the other side...
great video! nice feed back.. looking for more mustang upgrades
Thanks; check out my Mustang playlist for more.
Really nice job on the video. Right to it, showed very clear shots in the video and made a lot of sense. Thanks for this.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video...
Did the new plugs came gaped ready to put in the car?
Yes, but different brands might not be.
What size of socket did u use for the spark plugs?
Nice video
Thanks man this helps a lot, geetings from germany.

Should I replace the coil packs as well as the spark plugs? I figured I may as well since I have to move the upper intake manifold, and I dont want to have to do that again.
Depends on the mileage and your budget. I wouldn't cheap out on cp's, so buying good ones is going to be a couple hundred $. If you're over 100k miles, I would say definately if you can swing the extra cost, do it.
Would this also increase the throttle response I have a 1 to 2 second delay from when I press on the pedal sometimes
You have a 1-2 second delay from a stop? Or when you're already moving and try to pass? Already moving is probably the transmission being slow to downshift. From a stop, then holy crap it's running rough! New plugs will increase throttle response slightly if your old ones are shot, but I'm unclear what exactly you got going on based on the description...
Great Video only suggestion is to add anti seize to threads
What is the preferred gap for the spark plugs in a mustang v6
.045
I had a hard time pulling the clip off of the thing that covers the spark plug and broke the red thing in half will that be alright?
As long as it still clicks into place and you can't pull it back off it should be fine
Okay I'm having a problem with get the coil packs to come out any ideas
Well assuming you took the bolts out, sometimes the rubber can melt/seize to the lining of the plug wall channel. You'll just have to grab it real tight and wiggle all directions and twist back and forth until it breaks free. Pull up while doing this...
hey great video thank you for doing this for us
bad news my car's spark plug is fucked and i dont have a tool to get the spark plug out
what socket did you use
I don't understand what's wrong with it? It should be a 5/8" socket.
@@BuckeyeBallistics its not your fault its just the tools i was using was not the right size, i will try again tomorrow morning
Update I went to Lowe’s and got a socket that fit and I’m halfway done
should i use these one instead of OEM Motorcraft spark plugs (CYFS12F5)?
Either. The iridium plugs I use are an upgrade...
Sir than you again! i have change my spark plugs. But now when I turn my AC/heater on it goes to my face and up from but when I try to put the AC to go down to my feet it goes to the window up front like the deforast area. but when I put the ac on my face or anywhere is works fine it just when I put it on my feet? you know what causing and how do I fix it?
Sounds like you have the defrost on
Hey there’s only these 3 spark plugs for the mustang 2011 v6 3.7l? Looking to change mine out for first time . Car is at 95k miles
No, there are 6- one for each cylinder. As I stated in the video which you apparently skipped, you have to remove the intake manifold to get to the other 3 on the other side. I further stated that I was making a seperated video for the intake manifold removal and install because it is an entire job by itself, and I put a link to that video in the description- or just check out the Mustang playlist on the channel for all the Mustang videos...
What is everyone's avg mpg after plug change. Is 17mpg the usual average for this car/engine?
Really depends on your driving/where you drive man. These things can get 30mpg on the highway, or as low as you are getting with a bunch of stop and go driving. I average 20-21mpg.
I am changing my 183,000 miles 2011 Mustang 3.7L Plugs which are factory. I am noticing decreases fuel economy but it runs fine.
What coolant do you use for your 2014 mustang v6
I always just use the standard Prestone green stuff in the yellow jugs. People will say not to do that for certain cars like this one that came with orange or red, but I've been using the regular green stuff exclusively for over 15 years without any issues. It is imperative however that you change the green more often, like every 30,000 miles or every 2 years. If you just want to put it in and forget about it for 100,000 miles or 10 years, then you definately want to use what they recommend. If you don't have an owners manual for some reason, your local Ford dealer can tell you what it's supposed to take if you want to know what they recommend.
So I did everything as stated in the video. My mustang starts better and responds way better but I did notice that my mileage to empty went up after installing new spark plugs. It almost doubled. My question is, how do I fix or reset the miles to empty back to normal? This morning it went from 103 miles to 89. The gas lever was close to E so I decided to put $20 of gas just in case because I don't wanna stay in the middle of the road. I turn on my car & it reads 269 miles to E. Any suggestions on what route to take?
Changing you spark plugs wouldn't affect that lol. And I'm not sure what you mean by resetting it- it calculates how many miles you have left based on how much fuel is in the tank. When you add gas, it goes up. I'm not exactly sure what you think the problem is other than the fact that it changed after you worked on it, which is probably just from re-setting the computer by disconnecting the battery (if you did so), which probably re-calibrated it in a manner of speaking, or even the pressure in the tank could have changed and cause a different read. But you put more gas in it and it said you had more miles as it should, so what's the problem?
Changing the spark plugs definitely affects the mpg!!! Depending the gap on the spark plug determines this. I had the same problem with these ngk spark plugs. I expected an increase mpg when installing these but instead I lost about 25 to 50 mpg. I would normally get around 370 to 400 mpg per full tank, instead I went down to 310 to 330 mpg. Even though they are pre gapped after driving with them for about 10k miles I decided to gap them, I forgot the the exact number but I believed after a few tries, I closed the gap on them, and I ended with 320 to 350 mpg. After 20k to 25k miles I decided to go with autolite double platinum and these brought my mpg back up to 370 to 390(never got it as high as the stock plugs). These spark plugs you have to gap according to engine manufacturers specs, so i did just that even though they werent that off. I drive alot and constantly monitor my mpg.
@Chris - I didn't say changing them wouldn't give better mpg because of course they could/would if the old ones were worn. He was saying his gauge on the dash was reading weird, miles to E. For example, if I leave mine on that display and pull out from the gas station after filling, it'll say something like "334 miles to E/Empty." He was stating that his was acting abnormal- at least that's what I gathered from what he was saying. He never elaborated further after I asked him to...
How do you know which one is 1 2 or 3 cylinder? My cylinder 3 spark plugs went out
You google it. It should be the rear passenger side cylinder...
I’m just a mom who knows nothing. I’m ordering the same plugs you used from rock auto. My sons ‘12 has about 160mi- should we change the ignition coil boots and tubes as well? We bought it with 150k mi, and we’re not sure what’s been done.
Well that depends on your budget and if the car has a misfire or not. The coil packs can last 200,000+ miles on some cars, or less than 100,000. Hard to tell without (me) looking at it if they have ever been replaced or if they need replaced. Even if they are the original set, as I said, they might still have a lot of life left in them. I'd say if they are original it wouldn't hurt to replace them at 160k, but it also won't hurt to keep running them if they still work 100%. If you're chasing a misfire, then I'd wait to see if the plugs fix it...
Wait is the number pattern u did on the spark plug correct? Like #4 is in the back
3 6
2 5
1 4
Hey, I looked for these spark plugs but stores only show they fit 2015+ mustangs (does this matter?) or am I looking at the wrong ones
What "stores," and probably the wrong ones. I got mine from MPT (More Power Tuning) when I bought my tuner, or you could try American Muscle. Those sites are Mustang focused, so there should be no confusion there getting the right plugs for the car. But honestly you should be able to go to your local parts store and just tell them you need ngk iridium plugs for whatever year your Mustang is and they will get you the right ones.
Guns&Cars I was looking at the wrong ones! Thanks man
Yup
What size socket with removing spark plug ? I’m new to this 🤦🏾♂️
I just try different ones until it fits. But from the information I just looked up for you, it should be a 5/8's inch.
If I want to change the spark plugs of my mustang 15 is it necessary to buy a new packaging of the manifold admission??
What is "packaging of the manifold admission," I don't understand what you're asking me.
Once on the left side is the multiple intake carries a packaging to seal, it is necessary to buy a new one or can I use that again?
The blue intake gasket? I discussed that in the intake manifold removal video I made right after this. Some people re-use it, but I replaced mine. Watch the other video for further clarification...
@@BuckeyeBallistics if that grouper, is it necessary to replace? or can I continue to use that same one? thanks for your answer.
I don't know what a "grouper" is. As I said, watch my manifold video for further details, as I'm having a hard time understanding you each time you comment.
use a 3/8 fuel line hose over the top of the plug and guide it in then start threads with it.
Thats an old trick I remember that from years ago! great suggestion!
Literally expected a shop to charge me like $50 to install my plugs. They want $300... ridiculous. I was like I just wanted to save time but I'd rather spend time than that price lol.
Well you have to remove the upper intake manifold, so that's why.
@@BuckeyeBallistics yeah but I popped this off in like 30minutes.
@@BuckeyeBallistics I get what you're saying though lol.
Iridium or platinum better tho ?
Iridium
Thx
👍
What is the gap needed for the spark plugs? Thank you
.052 if I"m correct
@@BuckeyeBallistics thank you very much..
@@BuckeyeBallistics did you adjust the gap to 0.52?
@Anca - No because they were pre-gapped. I haven't bought plugs that I've needed to gap in probably 20 years... but a lot of people like to double check them which is understandable.
@@BuckeyeBallistics thanks for you r time! I ve gap it mine at 0.52 ( 1.32 mm) they where at 0.44. Hope it s okay, i have the same engine. Hi from Germany!
My truck has a 3.7 v6 is this the same
Yeah
It probably has a slightly different intake
Greetings from germany!
I need to change the spark plugs on a 2015 mustang v6. I thing the engine is the same like your 2014 mustang, is that right?
So , have i understand correct, that the torque for spark plug on aluminium head is betwen 10 and 12 fp?
Yes
@@BuckeyeBallistics oh thank u for the fast answer and the help! Greetings!
Do you recommend 6509 or 6510?
Whichever I linked in the descrition are the exact ones I used in this video. I haven't had any issues with them since install approx 10,000 miles ago. But to answer your question, 6509. 6510 is better for boost...
@@BuckeyeBallistics what’s the gap? 0.054?
I got a 2012 mustang 3.7. I’m doing my car to bro I take on v8 all the time
When I supercharge it next year I'll smoke the V8's 🤣
How many miles were on those OEM plugs?
I don't know. I bought the car used a few thousand miles before I replaced these plugs at 111k
Forgot to include the only difficult part of this process! Anyone can do this without a video. Removing the air cleaner is missing here.
The difficult part is removing the air cleaner? No, the difficult part is removing the entire upper intake manifold to get to the plugs on the other side, which I posted a seperate video of as explained in this one.
What do you mean by 12 pounds
12 foot pounds? It's a measurement of torque- you need a torque wrench to measure it. Basically, it's how tight the bolt is...
3.7 is 11-17
Good eye. Thanks, changed.
On mes pas des bougie NGK sur un auto américain🙄 même si ça peut être conçu pour ça tes bien mieux de mètre les bougie d'origine de Ford. NGK c'est plus pour les auto japonais
Dude really didn't show anything
And you didn't pay attention to the video. The rest is here: ruclips.net/video/716PyQDFeFk/видео.html
