    2015 ecoboost with 65K miles. Got a misfire code P0301 for cylinder one, motor didn't run bad until I got into boost, then would cut out and lose power. Still, averaging over 28 mpg around town. Checked the plug gap and it was way over .045. Reset it to .028. Will see what happens. OE on my car are NGK Iridium LTR7IX-11. Supposed to be good for 100K.

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  4 года назад

      Yea with a gap that wide that the spark would most likely blow out under boost, did anything happen to the tip?

      How’s it running now?

    • @jaygagnon8618
      @jaygagnon8618 4 года назад

      No problems after changing plugs and correctly setting gap. Did also determine the plugs I mentioned were not stock but a range colder.
      A couple months later got same misfire code and swapped coil to #2 cyl. That problem went away and never came back. Weird.

    • @jwynncosmo
      @jwynncosmo 3 года назад

      You never use NGK plugs in a domestic vehicle you should only use those for foreign cars it's the same thing like you wouldn't want to use a Bosch spark plug in a Ford or Motorcraft in a GM

    This is probably why cylinder 4 is misfiring on a cold start I got 33,000 on the plugs but the cars work to the balls I'm going to try this before the coil pack

    Shouldn’t the gap be tested before installing it? The Denso’s are at .4, I’m reading the recommended gap is around .028 to .030?

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  5 лет назад

      Yea they should be checked or regapped before installing them, I gapped em all to a .028. On this video i removed the first spark plug and then gapped em all before installing the first one.

    Is gapping necessary? I have a turbocharged ecoboost and I have the slightest idea if I should gap the plugs.

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  4 года назад +2

      Youll definitely want to at least check the gap cause ive seen gaps that were closed gap not sure if it was a mistake or if it happens if they drop em or something but that would definitely misfire...but most plugs come pregapped at .032..but i feel they run best at a .028
