To fix the power steering whine, use ATF TYPE F like ford intended, not power steering fluid. Also for the exhaust, its because the manifold is a one piece mount, seperate the flanges and itll fix itself.
@@unseenentity326 check the evap vent on the tank, they leak sometimes, anything evap that leaks gives gas cap warning. I used fuel safe silicon to seal the vent since they arent available.
you seem like you know a lot about these cars. i daily a manual ‘01 3.8L and when i give it a lot of gas to speed up, it’s a little sputtery 2nd-4th gears, but when it’s in 5th, I literally can only ease my foot on the gas or it’ll just sputter non-stop, any clue what that is an how I could fix it?
Snowball Simpson I bought an 01 brand new and put 262,000 miles on it before a girl ran into it and wrecked it in 2012! I’d be willing to bet that it was the cleanest Mustang with that many miles on the planet! It looked like a car with less than 100K on it and it ran great. Here’s its story with a pic with original paint. I meticulously kept this car: social.ford.com/en_US/posts/ownership/first-new-car/9367-ford-tough-1.html?page=1
03 v6 Mustang with 225k, my first car was an 01 v6 with 220k and i put an extra 30k on it before doing something that no one should ever do to a car they want to keep running. I also have a 1995 mustang with almost 400k miles, engine is so strong
I have a 2002 GT with 185k miles. Bunch of little things have broken, but nothing expensive to fix. The only major thing has been the intake manifold for $300 because it was leaking coolant. Little things include cracked vacuum hoses, coil packs, O2 sensors. I’m actually surprised it has lasted this long because I don’t drive it gently. I’m constantly pulling, passing, revving on a daily basis for 4 years. Knock on wood, but so far my car has been very reliable.
dan McClaren only issues for my 04 have been a dead fuel pump, and intake manifold coolant crossover. Ball joint squeeking as well so swapped em out. Not bad for not havinf a car payment for like 10 years after buying it in 2007!
dan McClaren same here. I also have a 2002 GT with 170,273 miles and also replaced the same stuff you mentioned. But still reliable as hell. This engine just goes and goes
Hey would u mind letting me know a little bit more about the o2 sensors ? I just bought a 2000 v6 and I have to replace the sensors according to the check engine light.
Here’s an update if anyone cares. I’ve gotten every problem fixed with it and dumped a few thousand into customizations such as Black rims with performance directional tires, quarter window and rear window louvers, custom LED tail lights and headlights, hood pins, chin spoiler, honeycomb deck lid, cold air intake, BBK shorty headers, and the MAC duel exhaust conversion kit.
And same here !!HAPPY 2019 I had my 2001 v6 since 2016 and I have a leak from their oil pan I guess and I dont know if the rear man seal is leaking cuz my car jerks from a stop light when I give gas it clunk really bad any ideas? I replace selenoids and didnt fix it..Im planing to change the engine mounts..and also I have 6 leaks..that would be the most expensive thing I guess cuz I want true dual exhaust..my stock exhaust is too bad.. Im driving my mustang with an engine code..cuz catalytic convertor rattle like crap..but is due to the leaks..
My first mustang (2000 mustang v6) got to 195,000 when I sold it & was eventually LS swapped. My 2nd mustang was a 03 mustang gt & it was totaled at 167k but no issues at all. Now I’m on my 3rd new edge with 100k miles. These cars are reliable.
2024 driving a 4.6 2000 at 202,000+ miles. Only problem the past year, was a bad o2 sensor. You take care of these things and they’ll take care of you.
@@RafaVitor can manifold crack/leak make a tick noise? If I let mine sit for a day or so, the tick doesn't start until about 30 seconds of running, then u can hear it. But if it's any sort of hot at all, it'll start up and you can hear the tick right away. I'm just not sure if it's a lifter tick or maybe wristband tick, however u spell it. It does sound like it's coming from the lower end
Omg! You mentioned exactly what my 2003 has issues with: 1) Pulley tension belts 2) Power steering noise 3) Passenger side exhaust manifold 4) Oil leaks It’s been salvage twice and yet it still runs. 😂
Informative video for someone who doesn't own one yet. You hit on all the common areas I've run into on the 01 and 04 I had recently. Getting ready to get another one
Mustang power steering pumps havent changed since the 80's. Ford used TYPE F transmission fluid int eh power steering pump. This is why you get the whine when you add regular power steering fluid. Swap it out for the TYPE F and you're whine will go away. (as always do your own research before taking internet advice).
Ty very helpful.I bought a 1999 last year.I am very thankful that it has none of these issues.I have checked everything out that u mentioned.I had a rear main seal leak thank God I caught it early so didn’t cost much to fix.
I'm going to look at an 04 with 80,000 miles.funny they said they replaced the manifold gaskets because of water dripping, the same as you said.it has leather interior.mannn I'm excited honestly.
Brilliant video !....My '04 V6 convertible has the PS whine and the exhaust leak, also have had problems with the coil pack dropping a cylinder intermittently at idle....replaced 3 times and it keeps coming back (cheap coils)….going to try an MSD coil, wires and plugs replacement....still I love my Mustang and drive it everyday !
Thank you for putting out a straight forward and fact based video. I watched four other videos on mustangs of this year before this one. All of them featured some clown showing off for the camera while bringing no useful info about this car. This video has useful information. Good job.
I have a 99 Stang GT since 99 ... not having NONE of those problems other than the supercharger whine from the p/s and that's not a "mustang" common issue. That's justa Ford bearing issue and even today's Fords after 2013 does that. main leaks are common no matter what car you have. Let me name off some REAL "common mustang issues" 1. Gas Gauge goes to empty when you have about $2.00 left in the take and goes full when you put $5.00 gas in it 2. 2nd gear manual trans Crunch 3. Window motors loses it's strength 4. Bouncing or late responding speedo 5. Whining trans/diff 6. Syncros bad 7. Losing 2nd gear and not even racing 8. Clutch cable goes to shit at the most inconvenient time 9. Heat soaking(most 4.6/5.4L motors) 10. Serving dish of a crank pulley 11. Water pump going out whenever the hell it wants no matter if it's the OEM replacement or aftermarket. Same damn miles, same damn time
Lol i thought it was just me with my interior falling apart. The whole center console is loose and ive replaced the door panels twice :p and the classic steering whine, i love it.
Everything this man said. I had to fix and learn all on my own. I have been in 2 car accidents. I fixed the car back up both times, so I know.. I know just about every junkyard over here. U pull and pay saved my life. They are the most organized junkyard I have ever seen... You could even check to see if your car is there online before you get there. And it tells you what row the cars are in also...🥴👌💯
The good thing about the tension pulley is the placement of it. My alternator went out and I took the belt off by hand and put it back on by pulling it up.
I've had a 2000 Mustang since 2002 and I've kept up with the maintaining. It has 96,000 miles on it, has had a total repaint and restripe (lettering), 18" wheels and spacers, the issues I've had are a blown brake line, a fuel pump. I totally tuned up the vehicle plus replaced all belts-hoses, tranny fluid at 90,000 miles plus shocks and struts. ANY car that you plan to keep needs above average and proactive TLC. I also have a 1987 Corvette with 54,000 miles on it that looks new plus a 2010 Mustang... Cars are fun, a great hobby but like women they can cost a pretty penny to keep them looking and acting sexy and if you don't keep up the cars like women can get cranky and expensive and really screw you over at the very worst time.:)
Excellent vid. Thanks for the oil leak tips. The radio volume not going down and getting stuck on high when a passenger messes with it and inadvertently turns it UP in order to try to get it to go down was a classic. I finally replaced the entire thing. (At least it's a standard double-din size and was any easy swap.) My 2001 is still going strong at 146,000 and the body and paint have held up better than my newer cars. Never have had an engine issue, and I'm still getting random compliments all the time.
I love that mirror shine ad before the video, The guy says, "See how the bottle just slides right off?" If you watch you can see him give it help to slide off by pushing it when he sits it down!
I have a 2004 V6.The Ignition Coil develops small cracks and will misfire. You will go crazy replacing O2 sensors, plugs, and wire. But replacing the coil solves the problem.Only trouble codes will be O2 sensors, and Misfire sensor. Also the serpentine belt will come off after a few thousands miles.Replacing the belt solves the problem. Also he mentions this in the above video about the weak tensioner. Also drivers side electric window gear wears out.Plus the window motor wont stop running till you hit the up button when rolling it down. The a/c blower resistor also went bad. Also the motor mounts go bad.Maybe a turnbuckle will solve that problem.Headliner is rotting, and falling.Drivers seat upholstry rips, exposing the metal which rips your paints.Plastic Headlights frost up from the sun after about 3 or 4 years.Aftermarket replacements work fine.
Replace the idler-tensioner for the belt & then add a new belt. Takes all of about 20 minutes-one nut as I recall. Cars all wear just like nearly everything else does. Roads and weather provide the beating.
Here are a few others. 1. Vent cap on the rear axle, make sure it's clear. Easy to replace, this will prevent pressure from blowing the pinion seal. 2. Code P1518 is mostly caused by plastic clips breaking, the control arms attached to a manifold high RPM relay unit that controls air intake butterfly's. Clips are 6 dollars but the fix is a few hours if the you take off the manifold. 3. Brakes, calipers slide pins love to get stuck, if you did 4 rotors, pads and calipers new/rebuilt your looking at 500 for calipers, 200 for rotors and 75 for pads. Not to mention if you need a flush and what not. that's the low end brakes. 4. Seat belt retraction also fails a lot leaving you with a sloppy seatbelts, the fix is about 100 dollars with a few hours of work. 5. Pop an airbag? $700 from ford, in 2008. www.nhtsa.gov/recalls review TSB here.
@@GK7GARAGE Update, my power steering pump had the whine sound, until I drove it for 1500 miles in a 24 hour period, now it's quiet. That was about 70k miles, car is at 105k miles now. The car also had the, won't pump gas without shutting off handle problem, changed rear charcoal canister and now it fills up fine. And put in a new TPS as the idling, some more common issues with the 3.8l.
Wow, everything you literally said has happened to my '02 Mustang. I have the stupid rear main seal leak and an oil pan leak. My center console is also missing the cushion piece like yours too haha. The only thing that has happened to the exterior is the paint chipping on my spoiler. I've replaced the brake booster and brake master cylinder, and the brakes are still spongy haha.
Great video! I've owned a 2003 for a couple years now and the whining noise I heard while it was running made me cringe. I thought it was something serious. It's good to know it's just a really loud power steering pump.
One of the best cars I've ever owned. Keeps going and keeps going. I do hear the power steering pump and my driver door handle plate did come completely loose, but we fixed it.
Mustang tip of the day the rear end from a 95 will fit the 2002 after you drill the holes out on the 95 rear end. The headliner out of a 95 will also fit a 2002. And thers lots more parts that cross over to
My power steering pump was leaking so I put Lukas PS sealer into it. The stuff pours like honey, but after the second time I topped up with it, the pump got much quieter.
Got a 2001 V6 convertible with 60,000 miles. Bought it with an exhaust leak and bad coil pack. Replaced those and the thing has been a freaking tank for the last 3 years. Now has something over 75k (college student, don’t commute that much) and it’s still screaming. Installed BBK headers to fix the leak, and I have plans for a CAI, BBK throttle body, and hopefully a tune down the road. Not a fan of the transmission, but i believe it was designed that way to compliment the V6
Each trim level has different issues. For example, the 03-04 Cobras can have the “Cobra clunk,” power steering leaks, AC Compressor dies, cruise control just quits working, and the alternators get burned up due to not being able to handle the high engine temps. My cobra had that door leather issue where it started to peel back from the top, but I had it fixed.
Sir. I really appreciate your video. Thank you sooo much. I was hearing that power steering wine while I was test driving a2000 mod. I was of course worried thinking it was the rear end. I really appreciate this. Now im going to buy it.
Just got my 02 gt vert going again. Dropped an 04 engine with 120k miles. My car has over 206k miles. Still going, QA1 front end kit and solid trans mount with a tr3650 trans. Drop top, go thru some twistys, radio up! I missed it! Enjoy!!!
My 04 V6 had 250K miles still on the same motor and transmission. Never had to rebuilt the motor or do anything major to it. Unfortunately it was a gas hog so I had to buy another car thats a gas saver. For some reason the car breaks down more just sitting in the driveway than when it was daily driven 😂😂😂. Currently has a ignition problem and a fuel leak so I'm going to part it soon. It was a blast. But life goes on. Loved that car. Slow AF 🙄 but reliable.
I have an 02 convertible. Only issues I'm having at 98,000 miles so far is some wiring problems (IE: rear driver quarter window works when it wants. Bad harness in driver door causing it) Right now, I am having to locate the brake light wiring short, because I'm getting intermittent problems with no brake lights and stuck in park until I move the brake light switch under the dash. I did replace the switch the other day, but to no avail. After 20 years, I did have to refill a little tranny fluid in the convertible top pump, but hey... 20 yrs... I still have the original top. The edges are starting to crack along the vinyl edging, but top still looks good. Your power steering whines, because you used wrong fluid.
I just got a 1999 with 85k miles for 300 dollars. V6 automatic car. Engine runs great. trans shifts good. Front calipers are sticking on and making a drag and making the front brakes smoke so i just ordered new calipers. The one I bought the inspection expired in 2015 so it's been sitting for 5 years plus. the tires were also weather cracked from sitting. I bought a set of tires on oem wheels for 140 and they have like new good year ga tires. new calipers on ebay for a set is 99 dollars. ordered new wipers, and plug wires as something was chewing on them. I have almost what i paid for the car in parts. Luckily it's nothing majorly wrong with the car and the a/c works. The light doesn't turn on when i open the door and the map lights are not working. not sure if their is a fuse that controls those or not haven't taken the time to look.
Owner of a 2004 Mustang 3.8l 293,000+ miles bought new and still own - it won't die. It leaks, burns a little over a quart of oil between changes and has never left me stranded.
Good video. - Thanks for helping educate the masses - Let me help support that cause: For what its worth, here are the problems common to the V-8 version (GT, 4.6 liter) 1. COPs tend to break down after 125,000 miles. Not all aftermarket versions get along with the ECU so research well if you are not replacing with Motorcraft (Ford) 2. Fuel pump on both 6 and V-8 die at between 80,000 and 120,000 so be prepared for that. 3. On the V-8 there is an oil leak which is very common at the mounting boss for the oil filter where the boss mounts to the block. Cheap part (gasket) but the heads on the 4 bolts which hold the filter boss to the block are VERY easy to strip off - Ford parts department replacements have much larger heads (they figured out that the original design was weak) so I recommend buying those before doing the gasket replacement. 4. Odometer can go out or become intermittent on these. There are a bizillion videos on this site covering this issue, typically on F150 trucks which you can view to get you up to speed on that. We also own a v-6 version so I'll vouch for the exhaust leak on that.
I guess I'm lucky. My 02 GT with 176k has never needed a new fuel pump. I probably just jinxed myself. And to top it off I'm one of those ppl who doesn't get gas until it's on E...yeah I know it's bad.
Try using 1 qt. of Marvel Mystery Oil the next time you change your oil, it helps to clean out the inside of your engine and makes it run smoother. I had a vehicle that was leaking oil at the rear main seal. I changed the oil filter, 4 qts. of regular engine oil and 1 qt. of MMO and I drove the car like that for 8 months. Then when I changed the oil again it wasn't leaking any oil on the ground. I am not making any promises on your car, but give it a try and see if it helps to restore your seals too. It is much cheaper than paying to have a mechanic fix your oil leaks.
My 2004 mustang GT has a rattle in the door when closing it, and going over bumps. What could this be? Im guessing something with the window regulator because I took the door panel off and cleaned it out.
I bought a 2004 Anniversary edition, I know nothing about cars! The first thing I had to do was replace the exhaust manifold , it had a huge crack in it. I have the oil leak and I was told it would be 3000 if it was the gaskets. If it is a seal or gasket is it worth getting it fixed? How would I know if its from the oil pan? I love this car, I just put a lot of oil in and it drives great! I have an issue with the brake light switch under the brake pedal as well, I see that online a lot it doesn't want to go into gear because of the switch.
I have replaced the clutch 3 times My car had cool aid poured in it I gave it a tune up And the car drives like the day I bought it Keep your fluids changed And this car is a beast I have 240000 miles on mine It's my daily driver Absolutely love the engine in this car I just wish my ac worked
My car does not accelerate properly after changing from park to drive or reverse to drive. Could it be the catalytic converters? because I just replaced the manifolds but the person I bought it from said he drived it with bad manifolds. Has anyone ran into this problem???????? My mustang is a 2003 v6 auto.
After having my Mustang for about 6 months the only main problem I’ve had is just the power steering pump leaking which is only $60 for a brandnew one so over 130k miles and that’s the only issue. Thank you for this video and convincing me to buy one I just came across it once again.
Ive had my 2001 mustang for a year now and its starting to get a few problems now. Its leaking oil, fuel pump is having issues, and the sun roof seal is toast and leaks a bunch when it rains. I payed only 2K$ for it so Im not surprised.
Mine has 300k on it as of last week, it leaks out of, well, yes. Other than that the only real issues are that the trans slips a little and it will overheat if I idle too long if it’s over 85° outside
you seem to have some words missing from your comment. Will you please review and update it? I think I may have similar symptoms so thanks for any help by replying.
I Knew It, I Have An 04 Mustang Convertible V6, 113k On It, Everything Works, I Was A Bit Worried It Was A Rod Or Lifter But I Doubt It Cause It’s A Really Nice Healthy Motor, For Sure Yes, These Cars Were Designed With Bad Exhaust Systems, I’m Glad I Found This Vid!
I have a 2002 v6, open headers, flow master muffler and tip, and about to gut cats. This is my first car, Currently at 191k and it has had a tick since around 120k since previous owner didnt know about oil leak and was low on oil for a while. Im not sure if its a lifter tick or wristband tick, however you spell it. But previous owner dogged it constantly and theres not a single moment im not driving mine hard af. These things are beasts, can take hella abuse and certainly dont mind their look one bit 😍 some of the most beautiful cars ever, truly a car stuck in time.
Add 98 on there too. Got a 98 Cobra and it has the exact same issues. Ive also had an 02 V6 which was no different but recently had an 06 GT and it was the most solid one of em all.
I just bought one with 240k miles and km watching this video about a week after buying the car, and it has all of these problems but it runs like a champ.
I put bbk shorty's on my 02 when the exhaust manifold decided to start leaking.the only other major issue I have had is the Teflon rings for the rack an pinion. Friend said it would be better in the long run to replace the rack and pinion to save the seals from blowing out.the 4.6 is a very strong engine an can withstand a lot
My 2001 v6 ,tons of mods.Still running like a top. Cai,k and n filter,bbk65mm tb, dual cobra exhaust, magnaflow, bbk headers, 3.73 with lsd ,eibach sway bars front and rear, subframes, adjusting clutch cable t5 tranny.Ford hurst short shift, bama tuner.
In relation to power steering whine, my 03 had the LOUDEST I had ever heard. It didn’t quiet down until I replaced every accessory mounted on the front of the engine. Because everything was failing and putting a huge load on it. And I mean everything lol
@@talamqtari3728 I replaced the power steering pump, both of the lines connected to it, I replaced the ac compressor with a bypass pulley, I replaced my idle pulley and my tensioner. The only thing I haven’t replaced yet is my alternator. But every one of those repairs helped make it quieter. My guess is the stress from the worn out bearings on the old parts was bogging it down and making it noisy
In mine (2004) the AC went out a while ago and they used computers to determine if there was a leak and found nothing, but the coolant runs out after using the AC for almost a day or two. But because they’re computer didn’t find a leak they won’t check for one manually, so it’s never been fixed. The CD player kept saying that there was no CD when there was one and wouldn’t let the CD go, and the volume knob wouldn’t work either, so I had to replace the whole radio. The exhaust rattles every once in a while especially if the car is carrying a lot of weight. Tenting on the windows finally started bubbling up on the back window after almost 17 years. Oil is leaking quite slowly and there’s no sign of where. Steering wheel can turn a little under and inch and the car won’t turn, it’s a bit loose. Head lights only light up to about 5 feet in front of the car, after they were replaced with brand new clear lights. The clips to hold the bulbs in are barely holding on, so every once in a while the lights will flicker. The interior on the door is also coming unglued. The control panel on the door pops off and I can’t get it to pop all the way back in. There’s a tear in the driver’s seat with the foam just falling out every time I get in and out of the car. One of the bulbs in the tail lights that is used for the turn signal will work when I break and use the hazards it works fine but when I use the turn signal it goes out. I believe it’s at over 130k miles. It still runs after all the damage I caused (warped rotor most likely from the dang potholes here that are never fixed, Under passenger door is messed up do to my 1st year of driving and not knowing the distance of the front of my car, so when you open the passenger door it pops and around the same time the passenger rear quarter panel is very messed up to no fault but my own 🤦♀️ i can still fill up the gas tank though.) I had the option for a new (technically older) car, but even with all these problems I chose to keep the car because of the memories I had with it when I was little. My mom got it when I was 4.
Hey im buy one mustang v6 2000 few days ago and feel strong vibration on the engineand replace the engine and trans supports and the vibration continues some persons give me the recommend. check the durham harmonic balancer you no have that problem whit your car?
I have a v6 with 76,594 miles and no problems but the noisy power steering pump but even then its not loud like yours mines like 1/4 that. I have a after market cold air intake crank case breather valve filter spark plugs performance coil pack fuel injectors performance spark plug wires high voltage alternator after market sound system true dual exhaust and bama tuner this thing halls ass now plus a bunch of visual mods took me like 1 1/2 years to 2 years to do because it's not cheap but I'd say it was well worth it
Hi, I have a 2002 Mustang V6 that needs a smog test but tester said the 'Service Engine Soon' light doesn't flash when car is on the 'On' position. I did a reset of the dashboard holding down the button and the light does light up but it won't with a normal start-up. Any help would appreciated.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a 2002 V6 and it runs great with only 72,000 miles. So no problems yet except the cheap plastic interior. Video was very informative.
I have a 2001 GT. Replaced convertible top twice. Around 90k, had to have same gasket/seal work done on original automatic transmission. At around 95K replaced fuel pump. Replacing air control valve because of excessive humming at 113k miles
That power steering pump noise drives me CRAZY. Nice to know that most likely it is not going out. I bought mine at 150K and figured it would need a new pump. But it handles perfectly so good to know it is just loud in general. Great video!
I have never seen a Ford, any model, car or truck that didn't have the P.S. pump noise and the manual tells you not to hold the wheel against lock for any length of time. The sound comes from the over pressure bypass valve opening when the wheel is held against lock and the pump can overheat if you do that.
I've heard that certain types of power steering pump fluids can quite it or make it stop out right. Go to your local auto parts store and on the back of the bottle it'll say it helps quite ford pumps. I know with mustangs best thing to do is take something like a turkey baster and suck as much of the power steering fluid out at possible and then turn the wheel a few times to get the rest of the fluid to come out into the reservoir and then use the baster again and then refill it with the new fluid. Worth a shot.
The door vinyl sticking out happens after so many years. I've had mine for years and it just happened and the car is 17. Any damn car is made cheap when it comes to plastics. You forgot the rear main seal. Have the rear bearing checked too. You also should remember to shut off the traction control when driving in the snow if you have it or your wheels will not turn when you are trying to get out a snow situation.

My '99 has 247,000 miles and has/had 4 of the 5. I replaced both manifolds recently, my power steering issue was the pressure line leaking not the pump itself tho, interior door trim loose, oil leak. I'm diagnosing now an engine vibration but came across your video. I've seen vids from trans mount, to motor mount, to balancer issues that have worked for other Mustangs.

Knock on wood, but so far my car has been very reliable.
yes, watch recent chrisfix video :D
dan McClaren only issues for my 04 have been a dead fuel pump, and intake manifold coolant crossover. Ball joint squeeking as well so swapped em out. Not bad for not havinf a car payment for like 10 years after buying it in 2007!
Mike S exactly. Im driving around in a nice looking, fun, loud car and basically paying $0 in depreciation. It’s awesome.
dan McClaren same here.
My 2004 has the rear main problem and the exhaust leak. It’s kinda funny to see how so many other people have the same problems😂
Same lol, just fixed my exhaust. Next is the oil leak!
I have the rear main seal leak lmao
How much was it to fix the exhaust?
#1 problem on 3.8 v6 is exhaust manifold cracks and leaks. Replace with headers and install cold air intake. Sounds great and gain horsepower!
it sounds so bad man i hate the tick tick tick
@@RafaVitor can manifold crack/leak make a tick noise? If I let mine sit for a day or so, the tick doesn't start until about 30 seconds of running, then u can hear it. But if it's any sort of hot at all, it'll start up and you can hear the tick right away. I'm just not sure if it's a lifter tick or maybe wristband tick, however u spell it. It does sound like it's coming from the lower end
Omg! You mentioned exactly what my 2003 has issues with:
1) Pulley tension belts
2) Power steering noise
3) Passenger side exhaust manifold
4) Oil leaks
It’s been salvage twice and yet it still runs. 😂
@KASHMAER sorry I ended up selling my 2003 MUSTANG and buying a 1995 Cobra Mustang …going up in price instead of spending money on fixes on the 2003.

Interesting. Mine whines at 130k miles. but I'm not worried about it.
That “drop the window down” let me know you locked the keys in there a lot 2:26

Thank you for putting out a straight forward and fact based video. I watched four other videos on mustangs of this year before this one. All of them featured some clown showing off for the camera while bringing no useful info about this car. This video has useful information. Good job.
I have a 99 Stang GT since 99 ... not having NONE of those problems other than the supercharger whine from the p/s and that's not a "mustang" common issue. That's justa Ford bearing issue and even today's Fords after 2013 does that. main leaks are common no matter what car you have. Let me name off some REAL "common mustang issues"
1. Gas Gauge goes to empty when you have about $2.00 left in the take and goes full when you put $5.00 gas in it
2. 2nd gear manual trans Crunch
3. Window motors loses it's strength
4. Bouncing or late responding speedo
5. Whining trans/diff
6. Syncros bad
7. Losing 2nd gear and not even racing
8. Clutch cable goes to shit at the most inconvenient time
9. Heat soaking(most 4.6/5.4L motors)
10. Serving dish of a crank pulley
11. Water pump going out whenever the hell it wants no matter if it's the OEM replacement or aftermarket. Same damn miles, same damn time
I just bought an ‘04 GT & it recently started to make a wine noise on first & second, but goes away in third
And it tells you what row the cars are in also...🥴👌💯
I have a 2004 with 130000 miles and I have all of the above issues. Still runs.great and pases inspection! I hope to take care of the issues soon!
Timberwolf, nice analogy. I'm gonna get myself a mustang, 2001 , would you recommend the v6 or v8?
Genius
Wow sounds about right. I have an 04 v6 and it’s all true

Man everything you said is so true for this car
My 05 sport trac had same volume control problem..i pryed off knob and sprayed wd.40 deep into shaft..took a couple tries but it works mint now!
Replaced my power steering pump and rack and pinion. Whine was gone after that. And no I do not have the car anymore
Finally, an informative video on these Mustangs. Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

In relation to power steering whine, my 03 had the LOUDEST I had ever heard. It didn’t quiet down until I replaced every accessory mounted on the front of the engine. Because everything was failing and putting a huge load on it. And I mean everything lol
The one that made the biggest difference was when I pulled the ac compressor and replaced it with a bypass pulley. So definitely check that
Can u please mention what u changed ?

Probably should add an extension hose on the ac drain, and zip tie it to the side
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a 2002 V6 and it runs great with only 72,000 miles. So no problems yet except the cheap plastic interior.
Video was very informative.
whats your mpg
I’m about to get a 2003 mustang and it’s knocking what could it be it does no knock more when revved up
i got the oil, power steering, exhaust, and interior issues haha. But i took care of them one by one over time, thanks for the insight!
Awesome keep it up with the car and it can last hundreds of thousands of miles
@@GK7GARAGE imma work to get a hard top and modify the HELL out of it, but I just love this year more than anything else
How did you make the power steering whine go away?
@@miguelavalos7199 honestly I got a new pump and cycled fluid about 3 or 4 times and it lessened it alot. Bot silent, but better
I got the same color as your Mustang, thanx for the info in your video
Great video bro.:-) honestly .my dad had a v6 and now I know why it made those noises..thanx... :-)
+Chris Salgado awesome
@ 5:26 I know that song recognized it right away 👀 ✝️ "One Thing Remains"
Plus great video
Hello , my daughters has a 2003 mustang changed her radio , stereo ! Well after that it started giving her issues , draining her battery ! They changed the alternator , got her new battery ! And it continues to drain battery , we charge her battery and it’s good for 1 day but as soon as she parks car and sits over night battery is completely drain 🤦♀️😡 please if someone had this issue please give me some ideas thank you
The stereo installed may be shorted inside and keep on draining to the ground
Unplug it and see if the problem goes away, then it’s the issue for sure
Lol my 01 GTs center console cover tore off also. I also remember hearing that sound when steering.
Subbed. Liked the video. Thanks for sharing.
Well you are right about all those things I just don’t like hearing it but thank you that is a lotta help on some shit good shit man
Thanks man i been looking at this car for a while cause i want it as my first car
Glad you mentioned the power steering pump! I'm looking at a v6 and was thinking the whining was from the trans like somebody told me it could be. Now I'm a little less skeptical about this car and will probably get it!
It’s better to get the v8. Same gas mileage about and more power and sounds good
I have a v6 and it’s underpowered
@@classicv8dude268 I was only looking at the v6 as a temporary option while I learned stick. Ended up getting an Acura RAX Type S to learn, then moved up to a 2013 GT.
i have a v6 99 mustang for 7 years , i never had nobe of this problems but thanks for the tip
Bro you described everything that's wrong with my 2000 Ford mustang V6 besides the power steering whine I don't have that but I got to strut out and I'm rolling it like I'm a G
My '99 has 247,000 miles and has/had 4 of the 5. I replaced both manifolds recently, my power steering issue was the pressure line leaking not the pump itself tho, interior door trim loose, oil leak. I'm diagnosing now an engine vibration but came across your video. I've seen vids from trans mount, to motor mount, to balancer issues that have worked for other Mustangs.
did you ever find the problem haha?
