Super underrated Metallica track. No matter what opinion you’ve got on Load/Reload there are some absolute bangers. The bass and guitar tones on this track are powerful.
they made most of the songs for Load in 1994-1995. This is the escape from the studio tour. They had enough material for two albums. Devil's Dance ended up on Reload.

Esteban Carballo 'Load' consisted of the songs that were further along development-wise out of all the songs they had. So they focussed on those 14 and released them on 'Load'. Then they focussed on the remaining songs and released them on 'Reload' the following year. However, there was a lot of issues with the production/mixing at the time so they scrapped it all and started again which is why in my opinion it sounds super polished compared to 'Load', and again in my opinion, it suffers because of that. There are some great songs on there but there is certainly some overbloated mediocre filler on there too.
