- Colton Herta has a scary moment as Will Power suddenly appears right in front of him on the apex of turn 1 during day 1 of the 2022 Indy 500 open test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

His quick reactions saved his life👍
And not only his!
Jesus christ, that could have literally been deadly
Not gonna lie, my arse puckered a bit😳
100% sure...
Well did you see him yesterday?
He turned his steering wheel before I could even see the car in slow motion. Wow
By eye perception is different! He see it before the camera could!
He does some magnificent drifts lately lol
Where is the YELLOW FLAG/LIGHT ?? He almost dead on the spot, right there. I didn't even see it at all, not sure how he can see it and has extremely quick reflect to avoid it.
There is a yellow on the right, above the fence. I may ask why isn't he decelerating when there is that much of smoke?
@@LH-uh6bn That light is 100% green, not yellow
@@LH-uh6bn the light is green and traveling at 230+ you have hardly any time to react. Also Scott just spun it around like 2 seconds before and 2 seconds isn’t that long.
don't they have an onboard light?
Once he learns to be more consistent and not let pressure get to him he’ll be unstoppable.
Yeah I totally agree he just needs some experience and he will be a weapon, I hope he will get a shot in F1 he would do great I believe
@@minidanielx5208 seems like McLaren and andretti should be able to get him a seat
@@venicebeachsportsnetwork6677 I doubt it, they're gonna stick with what they have with at least Daniel for another 2 or so years.
Quite similar development to Verstappen tbh
@@szandorthe13th vertstappen won at 18 in f1
Those were some quick and life saving reflexes...
I'd love to see this kid in F1... what a talent...
His spotter dropped the ball on that! Someone needs a talking to, and hat could’ve been (2) dead drivers.
Craziest reaction time in racing history
jesus 200 mph+ crashing into that would be deadly
Scott Dixon says otherwise...

Could've easily been like Alex Zanardi's crash at Lausitzring in 2001
Holy crap, that could have been a fatal accident.
Phenomenal reflexes. Truly the greatest of all time.
The greatest of all time of what?
a little early for that second sentence
@Mabel downvoted for will power
🤣
@@quentinhirschfeld9382 Colton Herta is the greatest of all time.
It's weird the caution light on his wheel didn't come on right away.
And he even caught the first slip from his crash most recently as well. This guy has some super fast hands.
Nice save to keep the car off the wall. Very scary situation.
he saved himself, the car and kept it out of wall, nice driving
Amazing reflexes! Scary flashbacks of the Alex Zanadi incident back in the day.
Wow, that was amazing save. Avoiding hitting outside wall was vital for him together with evading standstill car. Gordon Smiley crash could've been replicated, though modern cars are much safer than in the eighties..
Amazing human saved two lives for sure 🙏
Damn, that encounter would have been deadly for both drivers... Scary
mist + windshield + helmet visor and he still saw him. crazy
Good job youngster I'm pulling for ya in the 500 go get em!!!
If only billy monger could concentrate like herta did here
Spider-sense kicked in
Everyone have that reflex not only him
This reminds me of Paul Dana in Homestead Speedway crash few years ago
Holly crap, that reflex
Wow
“You must have Jedi reflexes if you race Pods"
What a save, something Jimmie could never do in an Indy car
has to be said that was a fantastic piece of evvasive driving
That could have been another Zanardi 2.0
With how rigid the sidepods are now Herta would have probably been launched off of the side of Powers car head on or very near into the fence. Would not have been pretty.
No "spotter in qualifying"?
Wondering the same
This race is making me crazy nervous. Just like Las Vegas.
Herta is hella sharp lately
Nice save from a really dangerous situation. Herta's hands are almost as quick as Montoya's were in his heyday. But JPM would not have spun!
I was not expecting that.....
This aged well
Almost like they should have brighter colors on the rear ends and or blinking lights.
🙏
That is a Depends moment right there.
Wow close one 🥺
Wow!
thats superhuman reflex. If I were behind the wheel the story will be totally different XD **FAT MAN RUINS INDY 500**
a certified squeaky bum time moment
Why wasn’t there a full yellow? That light is clearly green and that car is in the racing groove.
Why didn’t his spotter warn him about the car. It’s the spotter’s job to warn the driver about situations that the driver can’t see.
Where are his spotters? ? ?
Shut the Front Door!!!!
😳
Don’t they have spotters ?
Incredible car control
This reminds me of Gasly
Is he the best driver in the world right now?
Verstappen is, but Herta is pretty damn good
I think so, just needs to be more consistent
No spotter or what?!
What about others who avoid herta? Haha
That would have been 100% fatal if he crashes against his gearbox
not in an F1 car tho
@@anthonywebber8152 Mmm why exactly? you sre crazy if you think that the F1 cars have some kind of magic device to protect drivers from huge deceleration g-force and severe injuries to the legs, and spine which would be the result of a crash like this. Just 2 years ago a driver was killed and another suffered extremely serious injuries in a crash like this in a F2 race, which use a survival cell almost identical to the one used in F1
@@miguelelgueta5830 hit from side on, secondary impact remember not head on
@@anthonywebber8152 last time someone got hit side on at full speed in f1/f2
Well we know what happened
ill just leave this here, if u think f1 cars aren't safe enough to possibly survive this potentially impact
The guy should not have been going that slow.
So, where the fuck is his spotter?
Wow no wonder he crashed
That'll grow a few grey hairs.
Where the fuck is yellow flag ? That is too dangerous
maybe telling the pilots is smart?
LOL, some commenting that this fool could just jump right into F1 and be competitive.
you saw the car sitting on the inside of the corner right?
weak bait, try another one
this guy is bored that F1 isnt on this weekend so he decided to come shit on a completely unrelated motorsport.
do you do this to rally drivers too? and kids in karts?
i dont think so
I know. I don't think they know that F1 does things other than go round in circles all day long.
@@arconeagain I wouldn't know, there's never been an F1 race worth the 2hr time investment after the first turn probably since Indy stopped being an F1 race lol
Oh the trouble of going left.
Oh the troubles of being completely ignorant to a sport. Football must simply be kicking a ball to you
@@eannamcnamara9338 Hahaha!
@@nonnimeme9670 most idiotic comment I’ve seen today
The single dumbest race in all of motorsport flooded closely by all of NASCAR
Ok go watch your engineer parade time trials where the most exciting thing in the race after the first turn is some pass for 6th 57 laps in coming out of the pits lol
Wow
