    Why is this even a thing? The answer is quite simple: We’re believably fucked beyond all comprehension unless the meteor/pod containing the flood spore that would start it all lands in a volcano, or if we are informed beforehand about the meteor/pod containing the spore and take immediate steps to annihilate it in its entirety even if it means scorch earthing the area. End of story. What I would like to see is a “The Flood invades your favorite universes/games/fictional stories. How well do they fair?” type of videos.

    • @j-wolf7209

      Not so fast mate, modern militaries could literally just saturate the infected area with artillery and missiles, preferably with white phosphorus warheads, assuming the infected area hasn't gotten too big then we could probably wipe out the outbreak within a week. Of course we would have to act fast to prevent it from getting too big but we would definitely have a fighting chance.

    • @reclaimeddead
      @reclaimeddead Год назад +1

      @@j-wolf7209 That depends, if there’s spores in the air it’s over. If it’s like 30 infected forms or even 40, then yes we MIGHT have a chance. But anything beyond that is unstoppable. If the forerunners couldn’t do it, we sure as shit don’t stand a chance in hell. Let’s say we do successfully destroy all the forms. If a single spore the size of a microbe survives and is breathed in be wildlife or god forbid any human, there is no prepping or weapons (aside from halos, or blowing up the planet) that would be capable of stopping the flood.

    • @j-wolf7209
      @j-wolf7209 Год назад +2

      @@reclaimeddead I disagree, I believe flood spores only start spawning at a certain point in like a heavily infected area, could be wrong tho. However, white phosphorus would most likely destroy any flood spores in the air, it is a chemical incendiary gas after all. • @reclaimeddead
      @reclaimeddead Год назад +7

      @@j-wolf7209 Isn’t that the scenario we’re discussing? A heavily infected area? If that’s the case then there is no chance in stopping the flood whatsoever. By that time the flood would be far more intelligent than in the early stage where it is POSSIBLE, and this is if we are given prep time. If not, your scenario would fail miserably. The flood really aren’t all that weak to gasses, but they are weak to fire and extreme cold. So, if it’s in the early stages, we might and that’s a huge ‘MIGHT’ be able to fend it off in time.

    The only constructive criticism:
    1: The 556 has some significant concussion, therefore it would deal dissent damage to the flud. I would estimate 5 rounds of 556 to 1 12 gage buckshot shell.
    2: IRL, a 50 caliber rifle would transform a human sized combat form into 4 limbs and abstract art. The concoction is immense.
    3: shotgun slugs also have a large amount of destruction do to their geometry. They behave like hollow point bullets, but with 15 times the energy.
    In general, he assumed that bluets travel linearly and only deal damage by cutting through or that the hole made in the ballistic gell indicated the damage. It is much more destructive than what you see.

How do you do that, well, you gotta get people at some level pointing a gun of some kind at it. That means get a lot of people close to the place. With vehicles to get there. Meanwhile, as you're trying to kill these forms with weapons, you have no clue that a dozen of the townspeople trudged through the snow and ice to get to Juneau, Yellowknife, Fort Mac, and are getting on cargo vehicles and stowing away on planes. While talking about vehicles, you forgot to mention APCs and, more importantly, infantry fighting vehicles. IFVs are typically armed with autocannons ranging from 20mm to 40mm in caliber and often firing high-explosive rounds at a decent rate, along with having guided anti-tank missiles too.
    Dragon's breath rounds for shotguns would not be effective. They are too weak and are mainly for show. Flamethrowers would be more effective and have a decent range (you could burn a Flood tank form from 20 meters away with an M2 flamethrower), but the fuel ruins out really fast.
    Although, let's be honest, you would want to go straight for small tactical nukes IMMEDIATELY regardless of the Flood outbreak stage. Containing a Flood outbreak would be VERY difficult without nuclear weapons due to the amount of wildlife that would come into contact with the Flood. An outbreak would require you to kill any animal of any size that has come into contact with Flood biomass due to the simple fact that any sentient animal with a decent enough brain is going to be infected.

Commando? 6.5. DMR?308, Magnum? 50 AE, Shotgun? 8 gauge magnum... which does exist! It's awesome. All of the other weapons are roughly the same way, with the exception being the SMG. if a flood outbreak was to happen the biggest test would be where it first lands, depending on which country is first hit we could be overwhelmed in days, the other issue is civilians no matter how well armed do not make good combat units, people panic, get emotional, do not follow logic or sense and despite how many fantasies people have of being effective in a zombie outbreak, most would be overwhlemed quickly and with the flood, any biomass left can be sued in some way so we would see rapid expansion regardless of how fast we act, the odds would not be in our favour and our best defence would basically be hitting hard and fast in infected areas from above whilst forming border points with incendiary and impact weapons to prevent further sppread, although another issue we have then is the number of cave and tunnel systems that exist below ground in most countries where they could harbour in wait.
    I persoonally dont favour our chances mainly due to human nature, but I also wouldn't say our chance is zero, we would just need some good old MC luck on our side.

    Hey Luc! I don't normally comment on your videos but I love em all the same! I just wanted to make some corrections and additions to this.
    First off 5.56, it depends on the 5.56 round quite honestly. Not all 5.56 rounds are meant to penatrate body armor and there a lot of variants out there. The current standard issue variant of 5.56 over here in the the states is the M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round, a 62 Grain Bullet which uses a steel penatrator and can operate at higher chamber pressures from carbines and short barreled rifles like the M4A1. However, more common variants like the standard issue M855/SS109 version (known as Green Tip), also a 62-grain bullet used everywhere else in the world is not as effective and has been tested to not perform as well as the M855A1 due to M855/SS109 being yaw dependent for maximum effect (this means the bullets has to spin in the air a certain way for it to be fully effective). The A1 has less copper and lead in the bullet, meaning the length of the actual bullet inside the brass casing is longer giving a more consistent performance against soft targets and not having this issue. The last most common variant would be the US M193 round, a 55-grain bullet that was the first iteration that's a common civilian round here in the states. These bullets were known to leave nasty wounds in Vietnam because they were going so fast and being so accurate due to their lighter weight, meaning they would spin much easier (granted this would be dependant on the rifle's twist rate, meaning the how fast the rifleing inside the barrel would spin the bullet), but because of the lighter weight they wouldn't pack as much of a punch. Now 5.56 isn't meant to necessarily penatrate body armor perse (unless you used Black Tip Rounds which have a Tungsten Core bullet) but rather enter a target tumble within the targets body and do as much internal damage as possible. Would this be effective on the Flood? Kinda hard to say really, but I'll let you or any others in the comments be the judge of that.
    I'd like to point out that 5.45x39mm, the Russian version of the 5.56 acts in a very similar way, but with the actual bullet tip being quite a bit larger than 5.56. However generally speaking 5.56 is known to outperform 5.45 in most aspects.
    A bit of a correction, 7.62x39mm is NOT considered a Battle Rifle cartridge by any means, and is considered an intermediate cartridge much like 5.56 and 5.45. Now on to how this bullet works. The normal M43 variant of the bullet which is the most common variant is made to basically dump all of its energy on a target. While it does spin, unlike 5.56 and 5.45, it's less of a concern. This bullet is made to hit you and hit you hard while making sure you don't get up. However the downside of this bullet is that this bullet is solid, even while traveling through a human body mean there is less internal wounding. Would this be as affect against the Flood, I personally don't think so but that's up to you to decide. Yugoslavia made their own variant of the 7.62x39mm called the M67 which removes the mild steel insert the regular M43 variant has to make the bullet do more internal damage by shifting its center of gravity. However this has had limited effectiveness.
    Both 7.62x51mm NATO and 7.62x54mmR (the R standing from Rimmed) ARE Battle Rifle rounds. However in most scenarios 7.62 NATO has been shown to outperform 7.62x54mmR. However much like 5.56, 7.62 NATO has it's own number of variants, including hollow points, most of which kind of depend on the country your in with the standard being M80 Ball (at least thats what its called here in the states).
    An addition here, Russia has its own crazy shotgun that might be even more powerful than the Halo Shotgun called the KS-23. It was developed in the 70s and uses 4 GAUGE SHOTGUN SHELLS (I highly recommend watching Garand Thumb's video on it). However even within Russia it is quite rare to see.
    Now as you said in the video the best types of ammo would 12 Gauge, RIP Rounds (which can probably be easily loaded into most SMGs), big boi rounds like 7.62 NATO, and hollow points, while bullets meant to penatrate barriers like body armor would be a no go. Well there is one more variant of 5.56 I forget to mention. Mk262, a 77-Grain match grade open tipped hollow point projectile. While these were made specifically for long range shooting out of the Mk. 12 SPR, work perfectly fine in rifles as well that take 5.56 (like the M4A1) and are far superior to the standard M855/SS109 the world currently uses, probably almost on par with M855A1, and also are available on the civilian market (at least here in the US). It's not a be all end all round, but considering that most of the world is running some kind of 5.56 rifle as their standard issue rifle, I would think this round would make logical sense.
    So what do you think? And ppl in the comments are free to roast me if ya'll want. But Luc I wish ya the best, and stay iconic broham.

    If you ask me, No.
    Even if the outbreak was contained to a small region and then have a thermonuclear bomb wiping the area out like the Epsilon Protocol, good luck surviving the nuclear fallout that would block the Sun and cause a Nuclear Winter (10 Modern Nuclear Bombs today to is all it would take to kill Humanity).
    Plus you have to remember, this is The Flood. The flood infection can spread via airborne methods. Then you also have the issue of the combat forms themselves, even just one bite or even get scratched by the flood, you can get infected even then. And once you keep adding more biomass to the flood, that is how they eventually create a Gravemind and it just keeps getting worse the longer it is not contained.

      @@greenfrog5647 yeaaaah.. but soldiers aren't deployed for fun, on their own territory. If they're deployed it means the government has signs of serious trouble. Which means it's already over, the flood are in the air (birds, aircraft), soil, water supply, the ocean (boats, sea life, subs) and on the ground (cars, trucks/vehicles, railroad, trees, any and all fauna, and the atmosphere (spread by spore mountains). Whoever's approved the deployment is probably operating on info that's days old and probably aren't even aware of how far it's spread.

    I saw this video in my recommended a few days ago (never watched it) and It gave me a nightmare where I got to experience the existential terror of the flood slowly taking over and the utter hopelessness of watching soldiers who were trying to fight it become part of the enemy in seconds. I really didn't appreciate how terrifying it is because it's not real, but having a dream where it was real definitely made me realize how terrifying it is

    That be super hard to deploy lmgs given standard platoons have only 2-3.
    You also move much slower given how heavy they are.
    They would definitely have to set up defensive perimeters rather than assault the flood. You just can’t move as fast.

    • @patton3rd1
      @patton3rd1 Год назад +3

      Depends on the force and type of infantry. US Marines don't really like lmgs and don't have a lot, while an Army bradley platoon has 8 lmgs, 4 25mm cannons, and the co-ax m240s.
      But yes, set a defensive with really long site lines and pound the infestation with air and artillery.

    This kind of video which goes into the nerdy stuff like weapons and vehicles is amazing… if done right, which you my sir have pulled this off in a fashion that I would say you have done perfectly. From the little things like caliber to the specific guns to the larger things like tactics that we should use, this is perfect. I’m a big gun nerd and it really makes me feel amazing when RUclipsrs that are not guntubers go into specifics. I remember when you uploaded 2 videos that went over weapons during halo CE and those were astounding to me how the UNSC sniper rifle fires a round that is used in stuff like the PTRD and the PTRS. Both of those weapons are designed to be anti tank weapons, the crazy part about it though is that those rounds are bigger and penetrate armor better than something like 20mm, and yes the ptrs fires 5, 14.5 rounds but the halos sniper is so much better and it shocks me that the UNSC uses a caliber that old. Thank you so much and I would love to see stuff like halo 2 UNSC and covenant weapons in the same style as the halo CE series!

    I also want to say that some countries keep White Phosphorus rounds and are very much willing to use them. As a former South Korea Artillery man, we have 155mm WP (White Phosphorus) shells ready to be used at any given time, we just haven't quite used them yet. Given the substance of what WP is... I don't think I need to elaborate how effective it would be against organic matter.
    If you need an example, go look at Spec Ops: The Line.

    What If on Halo 3's final mission the portal on the Ark sends the Forward unto Dawn (intact or split) carrying Master Chief, Cortana and Arbiter (all together, two or one depending if the ship splits or not) A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away . . . . Star wars (or to be more specific at the start or little before the Phantom Menace or New Hope) let the debate begin !?!
    Warning this is a work in progress! but feel free to take, edit and use in your final draft if you wish, just a small mention/credit of what I may have contributed will be fine with me :)
    Option 1, Arbiter solo: The front half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Arbiter teleports into the Star Wars galaxy at speed, passes the CIS blockade, who are left wondering WTF was that, but of course turn their attention to another approaching ship ( Qui Gon Jinn / Obi Wan kenobi journey stays the same for now ... ) Arbiter crashes into the ocean or large lake on the planet of Naboo, after salvaging what he can and escaping the sinking wreck Arbiter sets off in search of civilization ... only at first to find Jar Jar Binks !?! ... After setting up camp for the night and having something to eat ( either human ration packs salvaged from the F.U.D | or some form of creature that Arbiter would be able to cook/eat ) lured by the smell of food Jar Jar " Attempts " to sneak up! ... Only to get caught (detected via Arbiters hunter/warrior senses ... that or his motion tracker) after a lot of begging/bargaining Arbiter takes pity on him and offers Jar Jar a deal, guide him to the " Human " capital of Naboo in exchange for food/protection (Jar Jar of course would accept this offer, what with being banished from going home for being clumsy) along the way perhaps they'll find a crashed but still operational warthog (which is worse, trusting Jar Jar to drive or shoot !) after some driving they come under attack from scouts of the droid invasion followed by the JEDI who come to their aid and ... could also appreciate a ride ... ( JJ will likely call Arbiter " Arby " for short throughout the story )
    Option 2, Chief / Cortana: The back half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Chief / Cortana teleports into from their perspective a unknown region of space! Cortana of course will start running scans of the area and drop a beacon for potential rescue (for about 4 years, 7 months, 10 days she won't be suffering from rampancy yet) ... oh would you look at that its the ship that Qui Gon Jinn/ Obi Wan kenobi are traveling on, after some basic introductions / explanations the JEDI will ask if MC/C would like to accompany them to the planet of Naboo or wait for another ship to give them a tow
    1a) if they stay some time later the JEDI will send a message saying the CIS have just attempted to kill them, rather than being sitting ducks, Cortana uses what control they have over the F.U.D to steer it to Naboo for a controlled crash landing then using a escape pod.
    1b) if they leave with the JEDI, the F.U.D will be left behind for now, will it stay adrift in space, get caught in Naboo's gravitational pull and crash there!) When arriving at the CIS blockade MC/C will have another two choices
    2a) Stay in ship until what should be " short negotiations " are over! ... outcome: ship gets blown up with MC/C just about escaping the blast or rises from the wreckage like a Demon to the bewilderment of the battle droids
    2b) Join the JEDI in the meeting to introduce themselves to this new galaxy or pretend to be acting security! ... outcome: oh boy, if the CIS were spooked about JEDI showing up in the original story, what are going to think Chief is ... Mandalorian perhaps ( they won't know anything about Cortana yet ) When Lord Sidious gives the order " kill them immediately " so the CIS blows up the horse they rode in on and " try " to gas the JEDI / Chief ... pfffft ha ha ha ha HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA cue the song ( Unyielding Soul ) | whichever scenario plays they link up and fight their way to the bridge (next question is can Cortana interface/hack the doors for the bridge e.g. is there a control panel they can hack? ... also don't forget the blast doors) still even after all that the droidika's with their shields may still be problematic leading to the group needing to sneakoff the ship!
    Option's 1/2 combined: When combining these perspectives most details stay the same, with the exception of Chief / Cortana telling the JEDI that Arbiter is about to crash-land on the planet of Naboo (or already has) they'll also be able to keep in contact with Arbiter via COM's until the CIS blocks communications

    14:00 One thing to mention about real gas masks, they aren't designed to last forever. Their filters must be changed out every 4 hours (For seriously heavy containments) or what's outside will begin to leak in. If humanity has lost its ability to replenish this resource, then we're doomed by this point.

    One thing id like to mention about air power against the flood
    A lot of aircraft including the A10 are capable of using standoff weaponry like mavrick air to ground missiles or for the russians, the KH38 which is a 30+ km range missile
    Nowadays jets could also drop bombs from extremely high altitude likely safe from flood anti air

    I reckon modern militaries could destroy a flood outbreak. If the location outbreak is found then the entire area can be saturated with artillery and curse missiles from aircraft (which would be hundreds of miles away, so no chance of them being shot done. No strafe runs!) All these could be equipped with white phosphorus war heads, which would be very effective against the flood.

    I think it all depends on where the flood lands at and how they land. If a meteor hits the earth with flood on it, not only would the meteor size and impact be a big factor because of how much initial damage it would cause, but then you'd have to worry about the flood as well. Now one thing that I think is highly underestimated is the fact that we have people like you and some others that are extremely well informed with the flood, so if the military can get people who are well informed about the flood in to explain how they work in a fast enough fashion, then we might be able to quell it. As for me surviving it, that all depends on whether they land in my city or if they land across the planet lol

Petrol makes it light easy and the diesel makes it carry over distance and stick to the flood. I think the civilians survivability depends on there hands on ability to adapt and how hands on they are
