If you’re going to be doing longer videos like this, you should do a retelling of every book. I’ve just started reading them. I’m on Cole Protocol and I am shocked by how good each book has been.
I Reject 343's Retcon of Halo. Splitting the Forerunners and Humans into 2 Separate Species is just Stupid and makes no sense. They just wanted their Own Version of Star Wars but with a Halo Coating.
Maybe one day we'll have a Halo game, which is a game series essentially about the Flood vs The Galaxy, that has... you know... the Flood in it. SURELY because 343 isn't in charge of Halo anymore, the next one will be good. For real this time, guys!
God I hope they don't They are beyond awful devs and seem to hate the franchise and us the people who buy their slop They make soulless buggy games made with no love, care, polish or appreciation for the fans an franchise itself so you want them to ruin Halo more than they already have?!?! Why?
Enjoyable. Thanks for making the video. Greg Bear's trilogy was a joy to read. You read a lot too I'm guessing. You pronounce words that you probably have never heard spoken and only ever read like virulent and chitinous. A trivial detail in an otherwise well made video.
No i think it's more british vs American English. I agree with you on the pronounceation of chitin. But it's the difference between aluminum and Al-u-min-eum
I feel bad when I watch lore videos now. The 343 lore has really dismantled most of the mystery or intrigue the original story offered. The precursors being forerunners to the forerunners is just silly. It's like jaws and bigger jaws. It's even weirder to have the flood originate from deffective alien powder. What an odd and anticlimactic origin. They were expired powder. Not some lovecraftian horror beyond our comprehension. The human forerunner war is also just frustrating. I don't care what anyone says, the original 3 games made it clear humans were forerunners. It works so much better. It explains why we exclusively can use their tech. It explains why we are called reclaimer. It has such a perfect dramatic irony with the covenant literally trying to kill the decendents of their gods. The line, "I am a monument to all of your sins," makes dramatically more sense. Having the humans exist with the forerunners and actually fight with them, not only makes the forunners dramatically less interesting or mythical. It means the Prophets were right all along. The foreunners did hate humanity and want us dead. I love the old halo lore, I wish there were videos exclusive to the old bungie lore.
Gravemind from Halo 3, "Child of my enemy" Umm, no Mr. Gravemind, under current canon lore, YOU are a precursor, and the PRECURSORS, made Humanity, so PRECURSORS are our parents, and Humans are the children of PRECURSORS. So no mommy gravemind, we are YOUR children, and unless you are your own enemy, your comment makes zero sense... unless Humans are actually Forerunners.
@@MrManatee101 Who is your comment for? It can't be for me, since I love all the Halo CE thru Reach games. I already know that Bungie Forerunners are Humans and have been supporting my argument with irrefutable evidence for years. There's also nobody else who's replied to my comment calling out 343's retcon and how it makes a planetary sized plothole in regards to the Gravemind. I'm really just confused by your out of place comment that's stating the obvious and just repeating what I've already said?
@@tjpprojects7192 I’m just saying it’s very easy to tell the gravemind said children of my enemy because the humans and forerunners are the same species but not same society/culture, hence why they are the “children” or descendants of the forerunners or the “enemy” of the flood
Honestly there's something beautiful about the way the flood exists. It's all function over form. How hideous or grotesque it looks is irrelevant. All stats go into function requiring the least amount of energy possible to sustain the form.
Pre 343 the idea feels like the flood was a type of interface between a cosmic intelligence (god) and humanity. The forerunners preserved the flood incase they wanted to speed to him
The flood have always been on par with the necromorphs from dead space. I'd say the one and only thing that may drive the necromorphs above is how the markers eventually drive you mad before you die.

@@THEBUGSAREBACCCCKKKKKKKKKK Master Cheif is only a stereotype for the same reasons lord of the rings is a "standard fantasy setting", they were the templates the standard was based on.
Halo seems safe; it doesn't have Tyranids. The Flood: a galaxy spanning mind. it has Gaunts. Oh, oh no! It is the Tyranids! The Forerunners were right!
If you could ask the flood anything, knowing you would be absorbed weather you fought or not, and they promised to keep their end in answering... what would you ask? I would ask to hear a true story, an old story... a story forgotten and lost in the time they woke from learning. That is what i would ask.
I never understood why the humans did not contact the forerunners about the flood. Am I missing something? Surely they were able to communicate. The start to their war seems completely unnecessary.
I agree. The only explanation I can think of is that humanity either tried and was ignored by the Forerunners, who assumed it was just an excuse to invade Forerunner space, or that humanity figured that the Forerunners would take it that way.
Had a question, and hope chat doesn't blow me up. Maybe you have a video about this, but I couldn't find it. I know it will be long, but one encompassing video about Master Chief from Begining to an end. To where he is now. An omnibus of his history. Just an idea

@@malcolmsaint and with how the feral stage of infection works lore wise there wouldn’t be a good gameplay way to replicate that but I think it would still be fun to try it
@hi00118 Like dude said, just make the player a protogravemind. Your goal is to spread the infection and absorb more mass and knowledge to become a full fledged gravemind.
Halo 3 odst: yay no flood
2024: bring back the flood
@@Kingofjune90 Reach had no Flood. I think it's one of the best of the series
@@Tom-vx5eq true, but it also had really good reason not to. Meanwhile Infinite had the absolute best opportunity to do literally anything at all including the flood because Zeta Halo, and yet they decided not to for some inexplicable reason
Halo is dead brother mane
Move on, it's only gonna get worse and worse and you know it
Necrophilia is illegal so stop it nao!
I swear this Chanel does more to keep halo alive that 343 does
15:35 I distinctly remeber during these retcons that ancient humanity held out against the forerunners for a millennia… that’s a lot longer than 50 years or half a century.
If you’re going to be doing longer videos like this, you should do a retelling of every book.
I’ve just started reading them. I’m on Cole Protocol and I am shocked by how good each book has been.
41:51 Master Chief jumpscare!
The parasite foolishly thought it was safe up there from Master Chief. Clearly it was wrong.
I Reject 343's Retcon of Halo. Splitting the Forerunners and Humans into 2 Separate Species is just Stupid and makes no sense. They just wanted their Own Version of Star Wars but with a Halo Coating.
That was brilliant work loved it x
an entire hour of flood lore i picked a good time check RUclips thank you always enjoy a new video about these nasties
Maybe one day we'll have a Halo game, which is a game series essentially about the Flood vs The Galaxy, that has... you know... the Flood in it.
SURELY because 343 isn't in charge of Halo anymore, the next one will be good. For real this time, guys!
It's dead move on
*Insert Ralph Wiggum meme here*
Planetary knowledge of this caliber can't be left alone
Time to do the ol fashioned “watch at night and fall asleep to it then Wake up and rewind back to where you last remember”
Imagine the gruesome Flood transformations if 343i makes a *Halo 3: Anniversary.*
God I hope they don't
They are beyond awful devs and seem to hate the franchise and us the people who buy their slop
They make soulless buggy games made with no love, care, polish or appreciation for the fans an franchise itself
so you want them to ruin Halo more than they already have?!?!
Why?
Extensive, entertaining, well done.
Master Chief is captured by the Gravemind.... Initiated his suits micro-fusion pack. Taking him and the Gravemind with him.... Or does he?
The LFG I shouted could be heard across the galaxy.
God damn an hour of Flood lore
@HiddenXperia Watch out mate, you got some strong competition for the title of 'Flood Loremaster' 😅
This one can talk properly too
I
This is a joke in case anyone is a fanny and gets offended hahahahahaha
I put this to fall asleep & had the worst dream I was halfway infected like Dubbo & couldn’t control it & infected my whole family 😂😂
I wish “Heavy is the Crown” by Linkin Park could’ve been used for Halo. There are so many amazing story lines that it could’ve hit perfectly!!!
The flood is my actual favorite villain
So what does everyone think about a fight between the flood (transgalactic stage) from halo, and the tyranids from warhammer 40k? Who wins?
i had a bad slepp after lisitng to this while tryng tosleep i loved it so muich
I saw the title and cried a bit
Can't wait for the Halloween video, 00! I hope it's a scary flood story
Oh boy, horrors beyond my comprehension :D
Gravemind from Halo 3, "Child of my enemy"
Umm, no Mr.
So I guess you never even played halo… yes humans are forerunners
@@MrManatee101They know, that’s why they said “under current canon lore”; this was retconned.
Honestly there's something beautiful about the way the flood exists. It's all function over form. How hideous or grotesque it looks is irrelevant. All stats go into function requiring the least amount of energy possible to sustain the form.
Man an hour... couldnt ask for more
Pre 343 the idea feels like the flood was a type of interface between a cosmic intelligence (god) and humanity. The forerunners preserved the flood incase they wanted to speed to him
An hour? We getting flooded with this one lads.
Only humanity could find random space coke, give it to their pets, and somehow cause the apocalypse.
Quick question, would you say the Flood/Gravemind is driven more by Stoicism or Epicureanism?
There were those who said the Flood was not the scariest horde faction in most any fiction
What have they to say now...
The flood have always been on par with the necromorphs from dead space. I'd say the one and only thing that may drive the necromorphs above is how the markers eventually drive you mad before you die.
Close. But in my honest opinion , the demon horde from doom is worse. And I fucking LOVE halo. But doom is second
I’m hindsight, their “most effective” measures scale to using only handguns in WW1
There is the Flood.
then
There is Sergeant Major Avery Junior Johnson.
Best character in the entire franchise
Master Chief is boring and a stereotypical superhuman badass that we already have a dozen of
The major is just a man, and a charismatic one at that who slays and never gives up
@@THEBUGSAREBACCCCKKKKKKKKKK Master Cheif is only a stereotype for the same reasons lord of the rings is a "standard fantasy setting", they were the templates the standard was based on.
ngl, the flood scare the brownies out of me during the game. Good lore drop though.
OH MY GOD!!! THAT POWDER IS MORE FLOOD!!! That’s not just theory. It is LORE!!!
The flood is like the thing but more like a plague than a single creature
We have no idea what “the thing” is like, but ye the flood
Is absolutely 100% what the thing is, honestly they are practically identical 😅
The Flood.
Probably the scariest zombifying organism in sci fi story history.
A halo lore video that isn’t trying to say FLUUD as many times as possible? 🎉
Well let me grab some popcorn 🍿
Kcuf yea boys an hour lets go
truly a terrifying enemy.
I still wonder how the Gravemind on Delta Halo could form? I mean there was literally no "intelligent" life on the ring that it could feed on.
Love your content!!
Requiem Most Detailed Breakdown Please
Had a question, and hope chat doesn't blow me up. Maybe you have a video about this, but I couldn't find it. I know it will be long, but one encompassing video about Master Chief from Begining to an end. To where he is now. An omnibus of his history. Just an idea
Beautiful Mustang there big dawg
Such an amazing machine and so good looking
Screw master chief I wanna talk about that mustang
Dang. A whole hour? Nice. Wonder if Hidden Xperia will watch? (Kidding. It's the Flood. He paid for an advance veiwing! 😆)
I was like "I've never heard this flood myth..." then HALOs were mentioned and it all made sense 😂
