    I'm not at all surprised that Chris was the one who adopted Cricket. I remember when he adopted George, who was thrown into the ocean by his previous owner and barely survived the ordeal if not by the doctors at Bondi. I have so much respect for Yvonne and her family. They understood that adopting a kitten is a serious commitment and took the time to weigh whether or not they were ready. Even though they decided not to adopt her, they made the responsible choice given their situation while also teaching an important lesson to their kids that taking on a pet of any kind is not something you do on a whim. Im glad cricket found her forever home.

    • @teddym2808

      I totally respect them so much, because so many irresponsible people would have not thought what's best for the actual cat. They knew they couldn't commit to providing her the life she deserves, and they did the right thing. So anyone upset at them, DON'T BE. It would have been much worse for them to take her when they really weren't ready for her.

      You can do it on a whim but then you still are committed for life. The whims of good people don’t lead to bad outcomes. I picked up a stray puppy just to snuggle it and then couldn’t put it down and adopted it even though I was allergic to dogs and in a foreign country. I had that dog for 16 years and it was the best decision of my life.

    My tuxedo girl was found in a box in a dumpster at 4 weeks old and I adopted her from the vet's office that took her in. She'll be 17 this year and I've never understood how anyone could have left her, because she's always been the most loving cat.

    • @wholeshebang1
      @wholeshebang1 Год назад +50

      Is that her in your profile pic? She's a beauty! What a coincidence that she and Cricket had a similar start in life. I adopted a stray - a _lil' black kitty_ that a co-worker found in a laneway, that kept returning for a few days, meowing loudly. She was tiny, and had a still-born, black kitten one week later. I wept, then buried it in the back yard. Jezebel was with me for 17 years. I've had 4 black cats - and 1 fluffy, white and tabby girl - over 25 years. It's time to adopt a couple, after a few years without any.

      @@wholeshebang1 no, that's our other tuxedo, Wallington. He was dropped off on a *very* busy street near my former place of work when he was only 5 weeks old. He had gunky eyes, was so underweight you could count all his bones, and was absolutely covered in fleas. We weren't even sure he was going to make it with how skinny he was and how bloody the water was the first time we washed him, especially when he was too young to give him a flea treatment. His paws were huge so we thought he'd eventually turn into a big boy, but the undernourishment when he was so young stunted his growth. He's just this little guy with *massive* paws.

      I think it's important to remember that they are in that profession because they love animals. I think it's probably very hard to not go completely ham on kissing and cuddling a lot of them, but I also think that is just what they do behind close doors. I had a "chief" vet look at one of my bunnies that were sick. He picked her up and started cuddling her and gave her some kisses. I thought it was very cute. After a while when the check was over and he had to take her back to do some investigating, he picked her up, looked at her with adoring eyes and dropped "YOU are mine now, cutie. I will steal you home with me!" and then went out of the room. Even tho it was very clear that he was very infatuated with Nova, I was slightly panicking thinking I would never see her again. She was such a sweetheart. Looked like a small grey and white sheepbunny. Was very relieved that I got her back but it was not without struggle for the vet as he had many "nurses" coming to say goodbye to her. I stood there just looking. Was very sweet and with all of my animals I've never had such an intense show of affection for my animals before by a vet.

    Chris and Cricket are the purrfect match, but Yvonne and her boys also deserve credit: it's tempting to think they should have adopted Cricket, but Yvonne put head over heart, which is the responsible thing to do. My neighbour knocked my door and she handed me this tiny redhair kitten she found in a box close to our houses. I took him straight to the vet because I could see there was something wrong with it. I came back to check on him and they said to me he had a broken leg and it was dehydrated. My grandson could nt believe what they had done. the kitten was on the street in a daze. My grandson took him home.. They already had a cat so Vincent call me and ask me to help. I went immedidately to get the kitten and brought him to a vet.. He checked him over and he seemed all right . the kitten was treated for fleas and I brought him home.. I still have '''FEARLESS '' to this day and he is the sweetest animal I ever had. At a moment , he seemed to have breathing problems so I brought him to the vet . they took an x ray and we found out that some of his ribs had been broken.,.. He survived this , aflter all that happened. He is now about 9 years old.. and is okay....

    I found a tiny kitten stuck high in a bush, crying. I took him home and rang up the vet who told me to bring him for a check-up. Unlike Chris, he just looked into the carrier and told one of his assistants to give him a quick check up : result was that his tummy hurt and his eyes were runny (probably coryza). I had just "lost" my last dog and wasn't really ready for a new pet. But the way the vet treated little Alfie, or didn't bother to check him out properly, made me mad - I took him home with some food and since then I adopted another young cat - we are now are happy family !!!!

My son and I got a cat when we least expected it. She had been a stray for a year at an apartment building in town. The manager said he was getting rid of all the cats (that didn’t bode well), and winter was coming. So, Nala came to live with us. Pictur8ng this small cat outside in another New England winter was too much. We’ve had her 6 years now. I can’t imagine life without her.
