    you can also use a decimate modifier set to un-subdivide with 1 iteration and get the cross shape non-destructively

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  4 года назад +2

      True, thanks! Although, if I want non-destructive, I use Houdini 😁😁

  • @gottagowork
    @gottagowork 4 года назад +1

    Another one is instead of wireframe modifier, you do delete faces only then merge by distance, followed by rip (throws an error but it works) and convert to curve.
    The curve gets automatic UVs which can be used for texturing and aniso tangents. Nice way to get object made by separate tube sections.

    • @KevBinge

      That would be interesting, and I’ve known people to use Blender for 3D printing. I’ve only done it in Maya but Blender can save out .stl files, so yeah, it can handle it. I guess you’d just need to make sure it’s airtight.

    How would I set only some of the faces to be wireframe within a mesh? I'm trying to make an anime girl model be wireframed everywhere except for the eyes.

    Great tip on how to remove the edges on a plane! as well as creating a chain link square. Tip noted for future reference. I was just experimenting with he wireframe modifier. Question: What would be the difference (pros/cons - benefits/drawbacks) between using the unsubdivide technique vs poking faces technique in order to get the chain link fence design? I'm just curious if it's just simply a choice in technique or if one method improves/hinders overall mesh/scene, etc. Thanks.

      @KevBinge  4 года назад +3

      Great question, and there really isn’t a better way one vs. the other as long as you still have clean geometry at the end. I never get caught up in the “this vs that technique” unless I have to share the files with a production team.

    And what if I wanna ad a bottom at my amazing trash can ? 😁😁 Is it possible ? Maybe add another object or apply modifier and add in edit mode a face ? What would you do ? 😊

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  4 года назад +1

      Haha!! Yes, I’d add in a separate object to the bottom as the base so it wouldn’t get the wireframe modifier. 😀
