    I just had the same complaint about not shipping fast enough. The item was purchased on Sunday, and went out Monday night. I use a post office in the middle of the Financial District in NYC. Sometimes, they take a day or so to update due to volume, so it didn't update until midday Tuesday. Some people have zero patience.

    I have to say that Ebay CEO is doing great job of pissing off seller all around, I have been doing ebay about 8 years as a full time and couple years ago, it was unheard of many ebay seller crosslisting to other selling platform. Now it is mandatory for ebay seller to cross list. I never thought in my life that I have Poshmark, Etsy, Mercari, and Amazon account. On Amazon seller account I sold few Nike stuff. Ebay should realized that Ebay is not only game in town. Within few years I'm slowly transition off ebay, I will still be on ebay but I'm not going to list new item or put in any effort/energy into it, ebay will be small portion of my overall sales. Not a smart move to PISS OFF seller

    Getting squeezed everywhere you go! Another avenue would be swap meets. I've been there in the past too! Some have good traffic, but difficult to run by yourself!
    Back in the day I used to go to the ASD trade show (LV), as a buyer under my friend's business and there would be sellers with a booth not taking orders, but are just there solely to sell off everything, or excess merch, for "cash-n-carry." I believe it's on Wednesday. Anyhow, it's better to go in with someone to split the rent!
    Yeah, I've been around for some time...had a blast, closing out stores and booths, but not anymore!

      Sourcing in NYC is great for clothing because it's really easy to find designer items as well as samples. We have access to a lot of furniture, decorative pieces, as well as cutlery and serving items from hotels. For example, I bought my aunt some cake knives and dessert spoons from the Waldorf Astoria.
      Sourcing for collectibles can be neat because we have all of the cons, but those items you tend to have to pay up for. Truthfully, I do a lot of my sourcing for collectibles when I'm back in Ohio where I occasionally Adjunct at a Uni - it's a lot cheaper there.

    As usual I am with you and your findings. I am tired of all the extra BS that we have to do to get sales when we should be focusing our time on listing. No other platform does this. I have also been lowering my promoted listings a small amount because it just doesn't seem worth it if they are not going to give us the return in sales on it. I still do partial store resets with some success instead.

    Well said! End and sell similar is no longer effective. eBay has caught on to this trick. Since March 14th I have had no sales! The first 2 weeks were great but no it’s terrible. It’s exhausting trying to figure out new tricks just get a sale. I am done! Set it and forget it. I will only end and sell similar when my listings approaches the 30 day listing timeframe. Last few times I sourced it all went on Mecari. Just as I am typing this I get an eBay sale. lol. Screw you eBay. Funny how you mentioned about that person getting a call from eBay. I got an email about a special rate for cost per click campaign after 5 days of no sales. Hmmm the shakedown is real. Ramping up my presence on Posh and Mercari this year. I’m done with putting in effort on eBay. I will still list but will limit to unique and items priced over $20.00.

      I find that ending so many items (not all of them) and sell similar relisting them helps because all of sudden people can see items that have got lost over time in my listings. It gets my sales up a bit too. It doesn't help all the time though because Ebay glitches cause issues to buying and selling at times too.,

  • @mayakoyama9130

    Before you list those fanart pieces i would use google lens to see if the artist is already selling their work online. If they are, you could potentially have an issue with the artist reporting the items. Even if they don't own the character they may report it anyway. It looks like the kind of fanart you would find in the artists alley at an anime convention, but many of those artists now have online storefronts too.
    If the character belongs to a series or show, I wouldn't get that worried about the companies taking it down. The only company I've seen aggressively taking fan art items down is nintendo. Otherwise, most japanese companies aren't that worried about these things, they have a huge fan art scene in japan (doujin or doujinshi) and a lot of people working in the industry started with doujin items. Now, I'm not sure how american companies feel about selling fan art so I'd be the wrong one to ask about those.

    • @hayfro
      @hayfro  5 месяцев назад

      so when you say the artist could report it, are you saying it's not allowed to resell other peoples art? and this is on etsy you are specifically referring to?

    • @mayakoyama9130
      @mayakoyama9130 5 месяцев назад

      @hayfro Ok, to clarify, I've never sold anything on etsy. I do sell my anime items (official and fanmade) on other platforms and never had an issue with anything being taken down yet. The example I gave with Nintendo mainly applies to fan art, they don't have an issue with people selling official items.
      With fanart from western artists, I don't think it's that likely the artist would report it, but it's possible because I know some of them will go looking for people reselling their art even if they don't own the character. Because what can happen is a company in china will take their artwork, print it on an item and sell them in bulk. Obviously you're just selling one offs so the artist may not care but I just wanted to put it out there. I agree it's kind of weird that people will draw copyrighted characters and then get upset that others resold their artwork, but that's how it is sometimes.
      I just googled fan art for etsy specifically, it looks like Etsy does have an info page about Intellectual Property Infringement and Trademark policies and they do have a reporting system. So maybe you could start by looking at that.

      Wiki: It's when a platform is good to their users.....then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die. Initially platforms offer useful products and services at a loss, as a way to gain new users. Once users are locked in, the platform then offers access to the userbase to suppliers at a loss, and once suppliers are locked-in, the platform shifts surpluses to shareholders. Once the platform is fundamentally focused on the shareholders, and the users and vendors are locked in, the platform no longer has any incentive to maintain quality.
