Fantastic Shimmy and I am excited to follow along.
As an insight for others.... I'm part of Shimmy's paid community. This shop is our case study and are real time results.
We know the name of the shop, how to create a store, find your niche, create the designs. I haven't got to marketing as yet but we'll get there.
I wanted to add this comment for the 'naysayers' as this is an honest and authentic video.
Thank you so much Connie ☺️
@@shimmymorris1 my pleasure 🙏
$2500/ month on a new shop is amazing!!! Giddy Shimmy is so fun to watch!
Thanks!!! We’re very happy with it
Thanks so much for the information and inspiration! And congrats on the growth of your new venture!
I really like this guy's POD videos. He's actually keeping it real.
Must be nice having someone to work with on this stuff. It’s rough going solo.
It’s definitely been a lot more fun!
Agree.
Congratulations, Shimmy.!
Thank you for the real talk at the end of this video.
I am part of the paid community. Shimmy is very hands on. The community is spectacular. Everyone champions everyone else. I/we have learned so much. Not just the process but why we do it a certain way.
Thank you!!
I wish to join it but if there is ever a price drop I will probably stop by, depending on the price. I cannot fully commit yet as it is my first time venturing into it and as you can imagine it can be overwhelming, I want to start with Etsy and then with knowledge do a specific store on shopify but it is too much sometimes, as so many questions, copyright, niche markets etc, it always just puts me back to the start, I am hoping to join soon but I hope my questions do not become too much as I am starting from scratch
@@shimmymorris1Wait... you told me you don't do training and classes? Whats this then?
@@Spensero what are you talking about?
I have a paid community. Within that there’s lots of perks. One of them being classes… live calls, ongoing community discussions, discounts to tools, etc…
@@shimmymorris1 So.... Im right then? You keep saying you aren't doing the thing I innocently said you do by telling me you do it. Its very weird and makes it seem like you're hiding something.
Good to see you're still hammering away at the POD business Shimmy. Life/work had me away for a bit, but I see your excitement is still infectious and your joy still being well earned.

thank you!
This is encouraging! Can you make a video on how you market your products? I think that would be a great way to give us a look at which ads are better than others. I have a Zazzle shop that I have for about a month and a half with zero sales, so I am not sure where to start on my marketing
Yes! I have been planning a marketing video. Just need to finish it
@@shimmymorris1 This is a great idea. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of videos that show you how to start up and design a product but not really any that touch on the marketing aspect, which is probably the most important!!! It's not really useful to say "Look! My new print on demand business is doing great!" without including everything that went into getting it to that point. There's zero chance that you just made some products, threw them on Etsy and waited.
Congratulations 🎉
Thanks!
Great vid loaded with helpful info.. thank you Shimmy! Especially loved the weekly promo schedule, definitely gonna try it.
Question, do you manually change the promo banners everyday? And how would you do that if 12 AM in the target country is 3AM for me?
Awesome video. Love the Legos!!!
Very cool and transparent video! Thank you for that! Funny, I mostly sell white shirts 😛
That's so good. keep going.
Thank you!
Congratulations and thanks for the info! And don't hesitate to turn up that mic you've got there, it's really hard to hear you.
Thank you!! I’ll get the mic sorted
My Etsy store has over 200 lines mostly tshirts and hoodies automotive themed havent sold one item in 3 months with adds !
T-shirts is way too saturated. Get better products
I started out on Etsy last month (not a POD business, just my arts and crafts stuff), and I'm just happy people see my listings. I tried Shopify before, I liked it, but at the moment it's just too expensive (for now, I really want to go back!!!)
Thank you for the great content!
I always hear print on demand people talking about 'We' in their businesses, who is we? I get the impression you're doing it all by yourself then I hear a 'we' and wonder if that means you have some sort of team. Do a vid on it please!
I heard he said that working with his wife
Congratulations and good to see your hard work has paid off
Thank you!
Thanks for the update.😊
another great video! My membership is pending for the free community. I really want to get my Shopify going!

For sure. Good idea!

Hi Shimmy, thank you again for the very useful video. Do you have any videos where you explain how you do your Facebook adverts? If not, could you make a video about it? Thank you and have a great day!
I am planning a video on that topic 😉
@@shimmymorris1 Thank you very much!
Do you only have orders from the US? Or are others prepared to pay the extra postage? Or do you do something in between?
Hi Shimmey videos are brilliant mate very insightful. Are you UK based or USA. I’m in the uk and just wondering if it’s better to sell in the US?? Keep up the good work 👌
Thank you!!! I’m based in the UK as well and sell in the US. That’s what I recommend
Great video , was very excited to sign up to printify, but uk can't have pop up store link , and can't connect to youtube is this correct ?? Im gutted ...
I know you already made a video about what POD platform to use but can you make another one when it comes to hosting a shop.
I know you can use Spreadshot and the artist Account on threadless. Teepublic should have one as well but not sure. Viral Style only gives you pages and not a real store.
As a Shopify replacement so to speak.
How do you handle customer complaints for the products? Returns etc?
Love this. Where I can I learn more about your Facebook ad strategy?
Thanks!
Our community mainly. This Friday is the release of the FB ads training.
How does the taxes work with POD? The money that you show as revenue is it already after taxes? Does printify do that automatically for me or do I still need to process each sale with laws of my country (Portugal) or create a small company, etc etc? Thanks, love your content
You have to cover the taxes yourself in other words it has to be passed on to your customers and you have to keep track and report it properly depending on where you are etc. Unless you are selling through another vendor who does that for you
I love buying POD T-shirts but I won’t pay over £18 for one so I am amazed you can sell them for the prices you do
Especially when he is using Gildan shirts. The cheapest of cheap material
4 months ago I started a print on demand store almost to the 6 figure mark it works it takes time it wasn't my first store was not this successful.
nice one!!
I made a phone case business and I made my 1st sale in less that 30 days... is phone cases a good business to start? I'm a little concerned for the long run game.
Well if you’re getting sales. That’s what’s important, so yea! Keep it going. Why not
How much money would you say is enough to properly jumpstart and get listings sold? Is it beneficial to focus more money towards ads, than on a print provider for merch (printify etc).
You don’t need any money for print providers. You’ll only pay once you sell something. Having 300-500 is good to test designs and start getting some sales and seeing what works
@@shimmymorris1 Lovely stuff, thanks for the reply!
I would love to have my shopify but I am afraid that customer service is very complicated and a lot of work. Do you recommend accepting returned merchandise?
Yes I do. Customer service is really not something to worry about in my opinion.
great content. What is the name of your selected print provider? Thanks
Thank you!!
Printify > SwiftPOD
Hey Shimmy just found your channel, absolutely love your content. One of my biggest questions is: Can you scale a POD business without creating a school/course/youtube channel? genuinely curious! :) I know most people on RUclips that are showing their business are on the Tube but as someone that doesn't really want to go down that road, and just enjoys creating and designing, is it still viable to grow shops? Thanks! :)
Yes… one has nothing to do with the other. There a bunch of Pod creators on RUclips, there’s millions that aren’t.
I do RUclips because I love it. I love the creativity. The filming. All of it. I did RUclips before pod, and I’ll do it after.
Our POD Stores on Shopify makes more than my RUclips or my Skool community.
If you end up creating a POD store you can definitely scale that
@@shimmymorris1 :) That is super helpful to know, its just something i've always been curious about. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much respect to your work!
Hi, how did you work out your retail price?
wow, nice
Thanks!
Do you have one niche like Yoga and then only make Yoga Designs or do you have multiple niches on your Site?
What pod store are you using
I really like that you say it is a real business and it requires work and understanding of ads etc. If I open a video of some random gurus and I hear add a text to a tshirt and make milions then I switch off such a video.
Ye there’s too many of those videos out there!
Hi Shimmy Which Payment processor do you use?
How I can open a Shopify account in a country that is not in the supported list??
Do we need a tax exemption for every state for Printify to not charge us the customers sales tax when Shopify doesn't charge them?
How many hours do you think you've put into this store?
It took me 4 months to sell my first t shirt/first sale....at over 400 listings. And I had zero experience. How are you getting sales your first month?
Lots of designs. Excellent well researched designs. Good ads. And 10 years of experience
Can you briefly explain what goes into that $4k production expense? I feel like you glossed over it in the video and i was surprised by the figure. Really enjoyed rhe video and appreciate the free advice you offered. Thank you for being so transparent.
The production cost are the T-shirts.
Every time I get an order I need to pay for the T-shirt to be printed and shipped. ☺️
@@shimmymorris1 Makes sense and was actually mentioned in another of your videos that I watched after this one. Thank you for the reply! Have a great evening.
Hi Shimmy. Im looking at joining your new paid group and wanted to know if i can do the courses in any order or you have preset it to be done in order? Thanks
you can although I'd recommend to do it in order
How do you manage customer service? Make a video on that.
Hello! Just subscribed thank you for sharing your experience! I am curious if I missed it sorry where do you sell to? I am in the uk and just can’t think of breaking into the market with pod here it works with Etsy in the USA but I want to move away from Etsy and find it too hard to market in the us 🇺🇸 thank you!
Especially TikTok as you can’t do ads in the USA well I tried a long time ago maybe it’s different now..
thank you!! Good to have you here. We sell to the US. Much bigger market
Thank you that’s awesome so learning to market to the us going forward is still the best option then thanks ☺️
Lots of original designs no problem need an outlet😇
How much budget do i need before actually going into shopify as a complete beginner?
I’d say 300-500 for ads is a good start
You need money to pay for design software like Canva, and for Shopify and Printify and pay for any extra art, money to pay for the items when someone buys them from your store, money for mockups because you can't sell anything without decent mockups. Then there's the ads like Google or Etsy.
In other words, it takes money. .
Hi Shimmy, I am in the process of launching a POD business with Shopify and Printify, selling in the US from the UK(Southeast London to be more precise 🙂). I would be ever so grateful if you could give me feedback on some of my designs. Please let me know how to get in touch with you. TIA 🙏
Thank for sharing! And I need some recommending providers, please! I want to know what you think about printify, merchize and yoycol.
With Shopify do you have to pay for your customers item upfront like you do with Etsy?
yes, however, if the customer pays with paypal, you get the money instantly.
How much do u spend on ads? Can u do a full video on how to run fb ads😊
Yes I plan to do that soon
You said you stick with one niche because too many niches would confuse your Facebook ads. How about when you change from mother's Day to Father's Day for instance doesn't that also affect your Facebook ads?
No because the designs are still very on topic. We’ll sell our father’s day shirts throughout the year. Not just for fathers day
Chris here.... Can you do an email on how you deal with filing Sales Taxes for your Shopify store? Avalara or Tax Jar are REALLY expensive... I can't understand why Shopify hasn't figured this out yet (as Amazon, Etsy, etc.) have done. Am in NY State and do have a Sales Tax ID, but it makes it so much easier for the platform to collect and remit the Sales taxes.
Love your honesty & reviews!
That's because Etsy and Amazon are the sellers - not you, a subtle but important distinction. On Shopify, you're the seller not Shopify, therefore you're responsible for your own sales tax.
@@SpeedbirdHeavy Thanks much! Def. understand the difference. See that Shopify now has 'Shopify Tax' service, free until hit $100,000 in sales..... If this 'helps' with actually filing/submitting the sales taxes collected so this isn't a nightmare filing in 48 states, it would be gold.
@dumpsac5702 the reason for that $100k limit is that, for US sales at least, most sellers don't have to file. 100k is the sales threshold, known as 'nexus', when new sales tax obligations kick in for many states. So depending on where you live, you might not need this. In fact, if you collect taxes without being officially registered with a tax authority to do so, you might be breaking the law. Professional advice is your best bet.
@@dumpsac5702 pardon me if I tell you stuff you know already, but others may benefit.
Shopify is not the seller you are. They provide the structure for you to run your store. You are responsible for knowing the tax rules and collecting sales tax as required.
I have 3 months on etsy and I'm not doing good, i need help 😢😢

I did say it in this video ☺️☺️
@@shimmymorris1 sorry I'll rewatch again.. ty
@@RAZNJ $600 in first month for ads. I didn’t hear how much it was after that, may have missed it.
If you are this happy and you are the pro, it feels like you are surprised. Seems like a little luck? Experience allows you to pick the best niches and products. And that’s why we need to also pay for the course 😢.
I’m an energetic person. I get excited about lots of things and typically bounce off the walls. It could be my ADD. Who knows.
I’ve found that being positive and energetic like this gives off good vibes and good energy which helps inspire others.
Have you shared the shop? It would be good if you opened up a shop that you could share so we can follow along the results to know it’s legit.
That’s what I’ve done in The Print On Demand Hub
Thanks for an another inspiring video!! May I ask you why you choose the gildan 64000 over other shirts?
I liked it based on testing and it was a good balance of quality and price
@@shimmymorris1 Thank you for your response!
i take it the shipping costs are added onto this to the customer which is why you havent factored into profit

Is the anime niche a good niche?
I haven’t done any research into it so can’t say
If you make sure not to break Etsy TOS Adult Anime merchandise is easy as hell to do.
You have no competition, and people are even willing to buy ai generated artwork
Why don't you wear your own hoodie/t-shirt? I am sure we'd all like to see your product... What is your new shop URL?
I don't share my shop as it'll get ripped off in less than a week. Also, all that unwanted traffic will screw up the metrics. (I've had this happen before so won't make the same mistake)
@@shimmymorris1 ok makes sense thanks
But how can this really be all that helpful if I have no idea what to put on the shirts.
Start with a niche. Then build a moodboard of successful designs in that niche. It’s obviously a lot more complicated that this video. This was just an update to my new store. Been making these once a month
I was all over the place when I first started, all my first listings I started with are deleted, I've deleted maybe atleast 1000 listings so far...it took me a long time to find my niche.
What about tax and the pay provider costs?
I included the provider costs.
Tax will be calculated based on profit at the end of the year.
I shall make a video when that time comes.
Can you do a video on VAT.... I am totally confused on this... if you go over £85k sales ( not profit) you are liable for around 20% tax? This is basically your profit although printify has collected around a third of this? Very confusing would love some clarification as no one appears to give info on this...it gets even more complicated as many sales are in the US I guess.
@@tobymcculloch4375 I think he only sells in the US so VAT does not apply. The US has sales tax, but I believe there are large exemptions.
damn I just made a design where the expression is in black so I had to choose a white T-shirt just for u to say that it makes the worst results
In terms of picking a niche, what do you think of cross-niching as a way to niche down?
For example dog lovers who knit as a hobhy.
Does that make it harder to target your ads?
It's been difficult to narrow down a niche that's not either oversaturated or just not in demand.
Any advice?
I wouldn’t worry about over saturation as you won’t be surrounded by competitors on Shopify. People will land on your store and only see your products.
I wouldn’t cross niche for Shopify though as you’ll really struggle to come up with enough design ideas to populate your store
I’ll bite, I’ll join the paid program tomorrow.
Awesome! I think you’ll love it

Never trust any business that uses gildan shirts.
Why…?
@shimmymorris1 Its a super cheap product. Meaning you don't care about quality or customer satisfaction you care simply about profit. The same I won't use a company who uses cheap batteries or chinese aluminum. Nothing against you. After researching you seem more like a self help business training guy and you're probably nice. I just personally don't trust the ethics of a business who provide the cheapest materials and still charge $26
@@Spensero all i can say is. i have bought every single type of print on demand t-shirt. I've got hundreds in my office. i went through all the quality, print and material, wash tested. I will be making a video on this... but honestly, the gildan is not nearly as bad as you are making out. In fact it tested really high. I could go even cheaper and make even more... but this seemed absolutely fine. I'm not a self help business training guy, but thank you. anyway.... i didn't make this decision based on profit even though that is of course important, any business that says otherwise is probably making a loss... i based my decision on what quality would be good for the price.
@shimmymorris1 what is print on demand hub if not a training course you sell?
Gildan is trash. Anybody who sells shirts knows this even when I was a poor comedian I would never use gildan for merch cause I respected the people spending their money.
Gildan is thin boxy low tier.
But like i said it looks more like you are doing the pick up artists school but for on demand printing business model.
@@Spensero what’s with all the hate? Did I do something to offend you? You don’t like Gildan. I understand. Millions of customers like it. Of all the T-shirts I’ve tested. I liked it. Why is that so hard to understand
Without telling the niche its kind of pointless. It says also to saturated to get the front pages even with running ads and good SEO
Why would he let that cat out of the bag and invite extra competition?
Why does knowing the niche change anything. Who said it’s too saturated?
I don’t care about getting to the front page of Google or anything. I’m running my own traffic…

Free world I don't have a specific issue with it .just the fact people are complaining about the price of goods all the time .
I never understood print on demand because those companies are selling a cheap T-shirt for more than it should cost retail and that is only the beginning of the supply chain
@@eden5260 i didn't say you couldn't say anything out loud... but if you have an issue with expensive items, then there's a biggest issue here. iphones cost less that $50 to make... a potato shouldn't cost what it does... if people don't want to buy it they wont... a POD t-shirt is a want product not a need, so if someone wants it they'll pay, if they think it's to expensive they can leave it
