@@shimmymorris1 thank you. worked
It takes hard work to get this much accurate data.

Definitely a fan of the Gildan 64000 or the CC 1717 (premium or grungy designs). You should do a sweatshirt & hoodie review next!
ooo good idea!
Definitely cus I’m launching soom
@@shimmymorris1 Can you please also do a review of women's shirts and of tank tops?
@@shimmymorris1 You should order one size larger since some materials shrink in washing....especially those that are made of Cotton...
I heard that DTG printing wears off and doesn’t mesh well with CC1717 which made me doubtful :/
😂I’m dying laughing with the fittings 🤣 I’m so fussy when it comes to the way T-shirts feel and the fit… I’m loving the reactions 😆 I feel ya 😂
Finding the perfect T-shirt can be tricky haha, glad you enjoyed the video!
I tested a few of those tshirts (and gave them to some friends to try them), and after seeing your review, i think it really depends of the target audience. I'm a "metalhead" and almost all my friends, and i sell the tshirts only for that audience, and of the 5 models i tested, the favourite is the Gildan 5000, everyone loved it. For us (metalheads), the thicker, the heavier, the itchier, the better. But for you, you just prefered always the softer ones, so it really depends of the audience of whom you are trying to reach. So everyone should do what you did before selling, just try a few models and "feel" them and give to some friends to try to see their oppinion.
One of the most valuable videos out there on POD. Thank u 😊
Glad you think so!
I have a Gildan 64000 T-shirt that is 5 years old. Despite 5 years of washing, it is still in great condition, feels good to wear, and the print remains intact. I haven’t found another T-shirt that beats the Gildan 64000.
likewise!
great video! through process of elimination, you found what you think is the best quality product. very helpful!
Thank you Shimmy! This is exactly what was needed in POD! Thank you!
you're welcome!
Hi I'm Marci, OMG thank you so much for all your help. Your videos are so clear to the point yet you explain all the right thing us POD need to know before we get on this POD journey. I'm a graphic designer but I hate the logistic /organizing my ideas and work flow. I love the design part but get so confused and overwhelmed with all the steps it takes to get your listings right on crazy Etsy. Your honesty and patience with your viewers is admirable. I have learned more in two of your videos then I have in 6 months watching a bunch of other video's
What a good content, appreciate the effort. You are the best!
Thanks so much!!
Thank you for reviewing all the t-shirts, great little montage right there 😅 Definitely agree that the Gildan 6400 is the winner 🎉
That was really informative and useful af! Thank you. Btw, you are quite naturally comical and enjoyable to watch. You had me cracking up! Thanks!!
64000 is my profit maker but the comfort color is my personal favorite but lower profit. Also when I buy a T-shirt, I just buy it for the design.
good to know! thanks for sharing
That's a true t-shirt connoisseur in action! 😅
haha thank you!
I have always wanted to do this for myself. Thank you!
Impressive work here! Thanks so much for your efforts!
My pleasure!
Been using the Gildan 64000, B+C 3001, and the CC1717. Love this video!
Which is your favourite? I’ve always found the B+C 3001 to feel a little too thin for my tastes. I’ve never tried the Gildan 64000 or Comfort Colors 1717 tbh though.
Please wash them all and then re-review print and softness. 🙂
100%
I think mediums would be your best bet for size.
i think so too
@shimmymorris1 Since those T-shirts were unisex, it would make sense for you to need a medium if you usually wear small men shirts. After all, it wouls make sense for unisex tshirts to be somewhere in between men tshirts and women tshirts, specially in places like the arms, back, and neck (most classic tshirts for women are tight around the arms and back)
I printed out of my home for 3 years before going to Etsy and I know all these brands and Comfort Colors and Bella Canvas 3001 are the only ones I can honestley sale in my shop with good concious 😊 Loving this video tho-Thank you again for amazing content Shimmy-April

You wouldnt sell the Gildan 64000?
@@bigcarlito I know their the most comfy in Gildan, but no I only carry Comfort Colors in everything and Bella when asked, but if I have someone asking for a Bella because their afraid they won't like the Comfort Colors i offer to send them a free Bella if they don't love the Comfort Colors. I do carry the Gildan hoodie and Sweatshirt, but mainly all Comfort Colors-April😊😊
@@rashipp4982I’ve heard that DTG printing with CC1717 flakes off and wears off pretty easily after washing and drying though, what was your experience with it? It honestly concerns me
Gildan 64000 was my choice after my own tests. It checks all boxes and I have had very positive comments from men and women, but my customer is not the trendy set who likely prefer the more fitted Bella + Canvas 3001. I was surprised how different the print quality can be on different shirts though.
Cool the Gildean 64000 is my go to T-shirt in my Shopify store. That is great to hear.
awesome!!! us too
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! In the past I have purchased custom-made t-shirts for work, and I was very interested in the print quality-meaning, does it crack after a dozen washes? I have many fantastic printed shirts that crack after a few months of washing, and I get so disappointed. How do we know what companies offer SOLID PRINT quality that lasts? Nothing is worse than gifting (or buying) a shirt with terrible print quality after washing it several times. APPRECIATE IT! - Main reason is I want to start selling t-shirts and I personally have HATED buying shirts that crack.😉
Excellent video ! Thank you !
After washing is the real test imo. But great content.
that's next :D
@@shimmymorris1maybe do a video with the T-shirts you already have showing how they wash 👍🏻
I really liked this video. I don’t see many comparisons of shirts colors quality etc.
Great video and good job. 👏
A very informative video. Thanks Shimmy!
thank you
Wow, what I learned from this video is that 99.9% of the shirts would be returned due to sizing for the most part. I think the CC large shirt fit you pretty well and you could grow into it.
Funnily enough we almost never get size complaints or returns. I just bought the wrong size
Absolutely fantastic helpful video. Thank you.
you're welcome
Great video! After the 3010 is washed it is so soft and comfy. It's currently my favorite. 1717 is also nice, but too warm for summer. The 3010 is more breathable imo.
good to know!
Thanks so much for this!!❤
This is SO helpful. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the vid, can you please do one for mugs?
Thank you for this… so insightful!!
Love videos like this
Specially to see the print size
good to know!
please also do a all over print hoodie review
Loved this review. CC, BC are the top ones. G64000 is fine but their black shirt looks and feels cheap. It doesn’t wash well. The rest of their shirts are comparable to BC BUT buy an XL and you’ll see the difference. I’ve switched to BC after washing and getting several samples of the Gildans.
Interesting! Next video I guess will be a wash test!
@@shimmymorris1 yes please do and look at the side by side comparison of the BC and G. The bigger you go with the G the worse the quality gets IMO. I got an XL in black and one in pink and they are just thin and seem cheap. Most of my customers are men and I want them to feel good in the shirts they get from me.
I really enjoy your cool authentic eccent, very nice speach you have, ty for sharing, you're a great motivator.)))
Soooooo usefull video. Thanks mate!
6400 is a very good option for the price, however if its 100% cotton the length will shrink too much. The cotton poly versions are a great choice though.
my shop prints on he bella canvas 3001 and i've only hard good things about the shirt. Very happy overall
That's awesome!
Will you do a follow up after washing a couple of times?
Yes
thank you this is so helpful
amazing work, thank you!
Great content to gain a better understanding on all the different brands out there. And I did not realize there were so many. Could you do this again with hoodies since fall and winter are around the corner? Thanks
Perfect video !!! Like always .Thank you
So nice of you
Excellent video, going to order a 6400 from Monster Digital to compare to my SwiftPOD Bella + Canvas 3001...
I have so many Comfort Colors their amazing!! I only buy them now❤ April
ye i liked them a lot, just very expensive
Sublimatipn on polyester is clear and widstands 100 washes. Dtf on cotton widhstands 10 washes. Mixing print methods on wrong textile will give faded impression. Bellacanvas was 99 cotton 1% polyester extending the fabrick to last bit longer. Think gildan is 100 cotton.
Have you done this sweatshirts or hoodies? Very informational thank you.
Thank you sooo much for the info! 🙂
Great t-shirt comparison but you missed one important element-the fabric content specifically a 100% cotton T will last and last but the twist of fiber combinations will unravel causing what is known as “pills” -little balls of fiber. I had heard raves about the bells canvas brand and bought one that had different fibers combined, it was printed well but when I washed it the first time it pilled under the arms and it wasn’t tight! I was disappointed because I liked the print but wouldn’t wear it out again. For a long lived T-shirt a 100% fiber content is the way to go.-100% polyester or 100% cotton. I believe the stretching of the knit fabric separates and untwists and unravels the different fibers in the combination fiber threads because of the different properties-polyester being long slick fibers and cotton being shorter fibers wound around the long polyester fibers that slip and form balls along the polyester fiber. Egyptian Cotton is combed cotton which removes the shorter lengths of cotton to make smoother sheets and pillowcases- it would be nice to find an “Egyptian cotton” T-shirt even if it was expensive I think it would be worth it.😊
Fecken good channel man!!!!
Why did you choose a heather 64000? It’s a poly-cotton blend and that means it’s going to be softer and it will fit better than the 100% cotton tees.
i just chose the most popular colours. heather is generally nicer for sure
@@shimmymorris1maybe you already know this but the Gilden 6400 heathers are cotton/ poly blend thus softer and the Gildan 6400 solid colors are 100% cotton thus heavier like the 5000 you tried on. Different textures between heathers and solid colors.
Very helpful video thank you!
solid video!
Thank you!
I wanna a comparison between awkward styles tees, please!
hello ! plz make a video about printify and printful print providers !
Printful is in-house, they don’t use providers like Printify.
29:49 - here is your answer! (for impatient ones)
i mean, that defeats the purpose of the review... there isn't an answer.. many of these shirts would do really well...
@@shimmymorris1 ;) - for me - clear answer (I trust you!)
Thank you so much! Joining the Hub the week! I’ve been debating on offering premium quality tee like Next Level 6010 for $4 more or Gildan 64000. Do you think it’s ludicrous to offer a premium and a standard of the same design?
yes... by adding 2 tees same design, you're making the cheaper one look really bad when it actually isn't... i would just offer one.
@@shimmymorris1 okay, yes that makes sense. Thank you so much for that perspective!
I think that some shirts are better for women (those with smaller sleeves)...... but I commend you for trying all sir.
But what to do when the client's fitting didn't go right and they need to change for a bigger one? Specially if you are selling for people of another country, how to handle it? It will be shipped to the print on demand store (the one who did the print and sent) or to me (the seller that is in another country)?
Good question, unless faulty, all returns back to your home front door, wrong size or not!
Bravo. Quality content.
thank you!
If all the shirts are tight I think you need to size up bro LOL ( meant in a friendly way ! )
Shimmy keeps it real POD plug fr. 👕 🏆 Always putting us on game
Would be interesting to see them after maybe a dozen washings.
awesome. coming soon

Compare all these platforms in detail and if in 2024 any other platform has come apart from these whose store is like Shopify and also handles the POD itself.
(but it should be free) please make video on this soon ❤
Unbelievably helpful video. I appreciate the great lengths you went through to pull this together and you got my Sub.
One comment, some that were tight, I believe the specs indicate run small so I would always check for that in the product details and list as "slim" if it doesn't say runs true to size.
One question, you mention using Swift POD exclusively but they are slipping on their rating with Printify...down to an 8.6 at the time I am posting this, so any thoughts on switching to Monster Digital (9.3 with nearly identical costs)?
thank you for this video
good informative video, thank you.
Hi @shimmymorris1, can you do the same video. But for Hoodies, Caps, polo shirts and Sweatshirts. Thanks
I feel that you could have gotten better results with a proper size to begin with. The large you tried on is the fit I see most guys wear. The only guys that I’ve seen wear a tight fit are athletes during a workout or practice. Seeing that these t-shirts are casual t-shirts and aren’t athletic shirts that have a different material, this would have made a difference in some t-shirts you tried on. The trend this year has been the oversized look, so a large in every t-shirt would have been nice to see.
great thank you!
Always!
Very helpful!! Thank you.
QQ about the Comfort Colors 1717 - is it "washed" or with vivid colors? on Printify the shirt colors are vivid, but you see on Etsy and other mockups that the shirt color is washed.
Thanks
I have 1717 in white, pepper, and moss. The pepper and moss colors are definitely faded and distressed due to the way 1717 is dyed and washed. The white one looks like a nice white t-shirt, no visible distress on it.
@@antonvalentinov4753 awesome! Thanks for sharing 🙏
@@antonvalentinov4753what about the printing? Doesn’t it fade or flake off? I’ve been told that DTG printing doesn’t work with comfort colors
@@yoyoyo3439 No flaking at all. There's some fading, but the shirts themselves are also gradually fading the more you wash them, so I can't consider this an issue. Been wearing them since May, and I'm really happy how the prints and the shirts are holding up. Ordered from Printful.
I use only Comfort Colors 1717 and Gildan 64000. CC is better for a boxy fit, truly more like the big shirts from the 1990s. Gildan 64000 is decently thick and baggy but is a slimmer fit. But most people like it, so I use it for designs of mine that are NOT meant to mimic 90s designs. Most of my designs are 90s style, so I use CC :) It's so weird to see people saying the CC 1717 neckline is high and feels like it's choking them, my necklines on the CC 1717 shirts is always normal, baggy, and drops. I think the problem is you're trying to wear a shirt that fits to size when these shirts are designed to be worn loose. You don't look like a small fits you. That size large you put on actually looks like a normal t-shirt, and it seems like you should be wearing a size medium. If you wore mediums they wouldn't be so tight. I don't think you're actually a size small. I think the shirts you get in the stores are not any "better" but rather they just have larger sizing, the same way pants are 2-4" larger than the tag size in the waist.
the large was wayyy to big. I'm probably a medium. I bought small as thats why i buy from normal shops and they fit nicely.
I wanted to use CC1717 for that vintage boxy feel as well! But I saw that the printing flakes off a lot and that it doesn’t work well with DTG printing which concerned me, what was your experience?
Are they all woven or spun?
which print provider were you using
Very comprehensive comparison. i'm looking for a T-shirt 6400 at a good price. do you have any suggestion?
How the quality of the printing of more elaborate or complex T-shirt designs (photoreal, night scenes, complex graphics with lots of fine lines, etc.)?
I would argue that there's not a 10 in terms in quality in any of those shirts. POD apparel is typically bottom of the barrel stuff. For those interested in how a t-shirt should look and feel, I recommend checking some of Shift Fashion Group's videos.
I found that the Bella+Canvas shirts, especially in white, are see-through. I tested 3001 and 3413.
Shimmy, you are definitely not a size small.
Spot on! I still with struggling with finding a good white t-shirt
I thought this too. But after testing all of them and comparing to my normal T-shirts from other companies I found some of these to be really good
Does the shirt selection really affect the print quality? I thought that would be based on the print supplier and the inks/process they use?
I think it’s a mixture of
I'm really impressed with the white printing on these. I ordered some POD hoodies (some Gildan hoodies on Printify, I think fulfilled by Monster Digital), and the whites are not opaque/thick enough-they are faint, thin, and almost gray because you can see the black fabric through the print. But Monster Digital has a good reputation, so what do you think could explain that?
@@Paul-yk7ds change your design color from ffffff to fcfcfc works like a charm bc they have to apply a base layer of white ink then will add the design on top. If your design is just white then they do not put a base which makes the print only one layer and thin/see through.
i'm not to sure, without seeing it myself. I use swiftpod not monster digital so it's hard to comment.
@@MelissaYS1776 Whoa that's a really interesting tip, and I see the logic. Thanks for that, I'll have to try it!
@@Paul-yk7ds I almost quit selling white ink on black shirts bc I was getting so many complaints but followed this tip and haven’t had a complaint since!

Hi Shimmy, I don’t understand 'print quality' as a category. Isn’t it the same printing machine all of the t-shirts went trough? Do you know how they are printed on ( like DTG or something else) ? I would have thought the print quality depends mostly on the settings of the machine, not the material of the t-shirt.
I think it’s a mixture of
have you tried fourthwall?
I've worn quite a few Comfort Colors shirts and I love them but our price is pretty steep.
I’ve heard that DTG printing doesn’t work well for Comfort colors specially 1717, and that the printing always flakes? What was your experience?
@@yoyoyo3439 I’m going to be ordering a sample soon. I’ve seen good and bad comments but most of the people that had issues put their shirts in a dryer. The people who have said they have no problem wash in only cold water, inside out, and hang them to dry. So…personally I would follow that but when you are selling to customers they probably wouldn’t follow the washing instructions and likely complain. Anyway, I should have one to test next week.
You aren't a small anymore, Mate! 😂
Haha I am in regular T-shirts. I guess not in pod
The Gildan 5000 looked the best on you
really? it felt horrible
@@shimmymorris1How so? Was it just too itchy?
Is the Gildan 5000 that bad? Do you think its understandable to sell?
I would never sell it… it was horrible
@@FrankfurtKnabe I sell it and a lot of people prefer it over the Bella Canvas bc it’s a thicker shirt. Never had a bad review on a Gildan 5000 but have had a few for the Bella bc they are too thin and the white Bella shirt is see through. Guys tend to prefer the G5000 over the Bella bc it’s thicker and more of a boxier fit, ladies complain the Bella is too long but like how it’s a tighter fit and soft. So I guess think who you are selling to before choosing.
