I feel the true test should be the color "correctness" vs the artwork that was sent (even in DTG, I create with Pantone color info for solid colors). Also, when silkscreening, I can set a specific width, etc. So, aside from being centered and straight, I think a DTG printer should be judged on the scale of the print vs what was sent. If they don't offer a way to set that during the upload and mock-up, they shouldnt even be considered an option. Dig all your videos though. GREAT channel. Thank You!

  • @tt4284

I've found if you place your design in a document that is the maximum size for that shirt/supplier it seems to kind of generally help as far as their placement and the actual size these suppliers will print. The suppliers don't say anywhere how much they will reduce/enlarge the size of your design for a specific size. Monster will blow that shit up to maximum if you don't place your design within a file that's already max dimensions. I've also had printers way way way over shrink my designs for smaller sizes to absolutely ridiculous porportions. Colors, print quality, registration on dark shirts... it feels like a dice roll every time, even with the suppliers I generally like.

Based solely on the one shirt, and one design, Monster Digital had the lowest price for the Bella & Canvas 3001 ($9.82) and the Brightest Colors/Most Vibrant Print.
Whilst the most expensive price for the Bella & Canvas 3001 ($12.55) , from Underground Threads, presented the Least Vibrant Colors.
So in this case, and in this case alone, the higher price did not equate to higher quality.

I used Monster Digital in 2021 and some prints were slanted ..the words were not straight or level. . They were crooked. And the colors were kind of dull and blah. They were not bright and vivid. After a few washes, some of the print started peeling. Two shirts had stitching that came undone. I tried to contact them. I called and their phone rang and rang and they never answered. I tried at least twice. Another 2 times I left messages on their voicemail and they never called me back. I emailed and they never emailed me back.

This is a fruitless comparison, as there's much more to see before final judging. A one-off thing like this doesn't give the whole picture. You need wash tests and reordering to show CONSISTENCY. If one printer holds up in those 2 categories, THEN you have a much better idea of who's the best.

I place themthe up as close to the top as I can... but when I receive my samples, they just seem slightly low. Maybe it will look better after washing? You can adjust your placement when creating your products in your print on demand company. The general rule of thumb is 4 fingers below the collar.

Thank you.. I put them up as high as I can.. noticed one of my samples from swift POD was closer to the top (which looked better) another was lower... maybe it is a little hit and miss. Also going to wash the one that seems too low in hot and dry on hot and see if it shrinks up and relay how much it shrinks to customers for a better look... one of the complicated /frustrating things about POD is you can't really always check quality control but videos like yours helps and getting a few samples. Thank you! :) @@KerryEgeler

You're using desaturated tones in your color designs. When you start using a wider spectrum of colors, such as t-shirts made using a blacklight style art (not actual black light, just the style) SwiftPod prints rather dull. These rustic, faded t-shirt looks everyone has been printing doesn't show the actual range of colors. Also, with SwiftPod, the ink sets on the shirt a bit thicker. There is definitely a texture difference between the shirt and the print. CustomCat so far has the best color range vibrancy, but their prints feel even more plasticky, and they rub off very easily, and 1/3 of the shirts I ordered have part of the image peeled off. I've yet to find a company that's better than Printful, unfortunately.

I ordered the unisex lightweight long sleeve tee, and the quality of the shirt itself was great, but I was quite disappointed with the printing. It was almost like they put a sticker of the design on the shirt, instead of it being printed as part of the cloth. The colors are great and vibrant, but I think it would definitely start peeling after a few washes.

Monster Digital stands out in color vibrancy. However, which shirt will stay good after a wash? That's the key question. I had a customer whose shirt started peeling after the first wash. That's a nightmare waiting to happen, and your store can get bad reviews because of it.

    • @KerryEgeler

It doesn’t have as much to do with the shirt as it does the print. Now, I would recommend using a good quality shirt such as a B&C 3001. But again, it’s more to do with the print quality. It is uncommon to see this and might be a one off situation.
