    Thanks to this channel, this bass fisherman from Nebraska was able to go to the pier in Myrtle Beach this week and fish with confidence. I also went surf fishing for the first time today! I caught a small shark, black drum and croaker. Thank you! Love the channel.

      I feel you, I just started fishing and feel intimidated by other experienced fishermen. I went to the pier last Sunday and it ended in total failure. I put my line on wrong and my reel got tangled. It took a while but I was able to finally figure it out.

    I've fished many a pier in southern California, and unless a Game Warden was standing on the pier they would keep any thing, no matter if it wasn't "legal" sized. As for that fish that was just dropped, even if it does not survive, it will not go to wast. Something will eat it, and the circle of life goes on. Those waves at that pier are pretty wild, never seen any thing like it.

    That pier looks solid. The ones in Hatteras are shifty, as in ,the wind which comes howling out of the north or south blows the pier that way. Crappy experience if it happens to you at night with big sharks just below you. Anyways it was real bro, probably run into you along the AO coastline this year.

    Awesome Video Skipper man! Couple of points: In addition to 28-32 inches, Snook in Florida can only be kept during open Snook season (Feb-May & Sept.-Dec.). You also need a "Snook Stamp" on your fishing license which is extra cash. Tell Erin that the reason for the plastic on the prier is that people in Florida are pigs. I've been an environmental engineer in Florida for 28 years and have encountered garbage in places you would not believe. I'm from the Ft. Lauderdale area but the Sebastian inlet is my favorite Florida inlet. I've seen dudes there pull up giant Redfish bigger than a truck. Love your tackle lessons. keep up the good work. Keep it Reel!

    • @sparkyjones560
      @sparkyjones560 6 лет назад +2

      You do not need a snook stamp if you are fishing recreationally from a pier that has a valid saltwater pier fishing license, you don't even need a fishing license. It's why they charge you different rates to go on the pier for being an observer or if you are fishing.

    • @HeySkipper

    A Snag-less weight tied to the main line ,then a dead man rig is a good option for rocky bottom and heavy crowds on a pier It keeps the bait suspended in the proper strike zone and you wont have to worry about crossing lines on a busy pier. The big snook is hammer head food ooops

    Great video Bubba! And you are correct about those who chase the big fish putting in their time. It takes lots of trial and error to get good at consistently landing big fish.
    It’s taken me roughly 12 years to figure out how to catch big fish in the surf.
    PS-A great rig to try if fishing over an area with looks of rocks/snags is a lemon rig or a modified slip bobber rig. On the modified slip bobber rig I make my “bobbers” out of pool noodles.
    That allows you to cruise the live bait right tight over them rocks without having to worry about getting snagged or broke off by a big fish.

    You always teach proper etiquette and technique. Cudos for that. I am somewhat new to youtube and your channel (great stuff) but have been an avid fisherman since your dad was a boy. Have you mentioned the importance of using bronze or steel (not stainless) hooks? Important information: If you cannot remove the hook without harming the fish for a safe release, cut the line as close to the hook as possible. Bronze and steel hooks will disolve in the salt water without serious harm to the fish. Stainless steel wil not.really like your videos.

    It seems to me that every pier I fish it is always the locals at the end that treat you like crap and won't move but expect you to get out of their way!! Total bollocks!!

      The locals act like that because unskilled tourists come out to the end, and screw everything up.

      some dickhead tried to do that to me and guess what, i have lived here over 20 years and have fished here all my life so they can fuck off cause ive got more experience in my fingernail than they got in their entire bodies basically.
      Some people are morons.

      @@jaddy540 so you don't think some of the folks fishing are a little over aggressive at times? I agree it gets way too crowded and people get in the way. It seems when a fish is hung into, people come running to drop a line and some don't know alot about what to do if they did hookup, so I kinda agree on that but there seems to also be a lack of etiquette on piers. Many are pretty cool that I have fished with but I have seen some kids knocking people around, slamming fish down hard on those steel grates and keeping snook out of the water too long and throwing 25 plus fish back without a net. I have seen too many snook floating along on their side dying. People get crazy when a few good fish are caught, just saying.
