Small bait catches BIG FISH! Best bait for Beach fishing!

- I am using free scavenged bait to catch some big fish while beach fishing in North Carolina. I used a special cast netting technique to catch some finger mullet. I’m hoping to target a big red drum (as I still haven’t caught the big one I’m looking for yet). Lot’s of fish bite like to snack on the finger mullet though, so let’s see what I get! What’s your favorite scavenged bait to use?
This week, we are camping on the beach in North Carolina in the Outer Banks. This morning, the bait shop was all out of bait, so I had to get creative and catch my own (but sometimes this turns out to be the best thing to do as these are the kinds of fish the larger fish are snacking on). I’m hoping to finally catch that big bull red I’ve been trying to target. Let’s see what I can catch with this free bait!

i've been watching all so many fishing youtube but this guy is real. not only fishing skills. camera works, diction the way he presents are also great.
Wow just seeing this out of the box ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
Loved you and your Dad's video on the T- Drop knot for dropper rigs or high-low rigs, I have used it ever since. Keep up the good content and teaching new and old Fisherman a few things.
It’s so great to see a true conservationist! Thanks for the great videos and keeping the fishery for the next generation!
Thank you for that message about catch and PROPER release. It's the best tool we have to preserve the fisheries for future generations.
I always release bull reds here in Texas or anywhere i go. People get angry at me but im hoping some day we have schools of reds 10,000 strong like in Virginia.
Your comments are so relevant and down to earth. I enjoy watching you.
Thank you for your time and videos extremely informative and helpful. I’m new to salt water fishing and these beach fishing tips give me a whole new world to explore it’s almost like being a kid again
"Teamwork" guys. 🙌🏾BEAUTIFUL
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! It helped me with my first surf fishing time last weekend 😃. I catched 5 Crevalle Jacks in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico, at the pacific. One was a 2 pounder, not bad for a first timer uh! Can’t wait to return to the beach and use more of your tricks 😊.
Awesome, Some great tips and responsible instructions too - Thankyou.. Greetings from Crete, Greece
My favorite place in the world, OBX, NC! This is a beautiful stretch of weather this week or so.

The best video for learning how to bait a rig for beach fishing! I want to learn more!!!
Great instruction. Thanks. I will try your ideas at New Smyrna Beach, FL
Great job. I’ve been watching you over the years and you have really come along way with your skills and your confidence. Cheers and positive vibes for Morrison Colorado.
Wow! I’m happy you have stuck with us for so long:)
@@HeySkipper You two have fished my old stomping grounds from Solomon’s island”I lived on the naval air station when I was a kid” to Jax beach FL. To Sebastian inlet. I have caught yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi and wahoo when I lived in the Virgin Islands. Have you thought of going to St. Thomas USVI and take a boat out? There is a dolphin derby every year and a lot of mahi-mahi get caught. There’s also a marlin tournament. And a king fish tournament on Bastille day.
I have never tried surf fishing, but after watching your videos it looks like so much fun. Thank you for hooking me up to a new type of fishing. Good luck to you.
👍👍 your videos and most importantly the education you impart. Thank you. Stay safe and tight lines! ❤️fromthe🇵🇭
Thanks for sharing , been following you for a long time , and your always well spoken and your tutorials are so so helpful .
I try to surf fish here in Monterey County California....

Good job, that was some great fish!!! 🎣😎🐟
Watching from big island. Congrats on that PB! Gunna try using that fish finder rig soon and see how it works. Keep up the hard work brotha!
Good Job mate very nice tynx for the new idea great! Now i know to bait in shore fising
Love how you made sure that over slot red got released safely much love and respect for that
I’ve seen videos where people use different casting technique for these 15’ rods that just fly out there , but you need lots of room to do this circle swing , can’t wait to try it this weekend 😁
I’ve try shrimps that went 1-1.5 days (it started out frozen ) and by the time I’ve try to use it , it stink BAD , and just falls off way too easy
i love salted baits, they keep for a long time, really nice when you can't get out as often as you'd like xD got some minnie minnow and shrimp salted, waiting for my next day off Thursday xD
“The wait n bait” 🤣
I Like how you did that drum music as you reeled it in.
Nice job guys. Also I wish people would stop dropping big heavy fish off piers.
Some time people are new to pier fishing too , so it would help if you see someone catching big fish , help them learn by teaching them .
I fish freshwater , went to my first pier , caught a big lady fish, was going to use it for bait , had it in my wire basket and drop the line at 10 feet and it kill the fish on impact , but I learn NOT to do that next time
@@reelfishing002 You are so right about teaching people how to do it right. Since I was really young my father and I would help net fish, offer bait that is working, recommend hook size etc.,where to go etc. Now I have so many poles, lures and terminal tackle I just plan on giving away stuff to that person who needs it. I also carry two piece rod upper halves if someone breaks a rod or I just give them a whole setup. You just drove all the way here and now you're going home? Here's a rod, buddy, you're staying. Bait shop closed or sold out or too far a drive? Take mine, I'll try some lures so I know better which lure to recommend. Last time I went pier fishing with a coworker and his family. He spent the whole time netting fish for people because I made a 25' handled net. He had a great time doing it. I hit on the right setup catching more fish than most so I was giving away similar tackle. I also make laminated fish ID and regulation printouts to give away and post for all to look at but of course everyone can check their phones. Fishing is a social bonding experience.
@@reelfishing002 the only time you u use a big fish for bait is probably deep sea fishing

You are a real one! As a new person to fishing, I can personally say that I sincerely appreciate individuals like you.
@@dominicking6292 Thanks for listening. I'm not lying. I'm older now and realize I have too much stuff and I really like helping people out.
Not too far from ya'll. We in Emerald Isle and the fishing has been great!! Love the vids!!
Thank you for your work. I learned so much from you.
Good catch, great lesson. nice work Skip!🎣😎🤙
We want to see Erin catching some fish too!
From baiting up, casting in,- all of the whole procedure!
!🙂 🎣🐟🐠🐟🎣 🙂!
As some others have mentioned too, cut the tail fin off as it can cause spin while casting, & in water current! 🙂
great video!!! Congratulations man!!!! very explicative and didatic!!! I am new in the fish in the beach so thank you so much!!!
Your videos always helped me a lot, thank you for that, greetings from philippines
Congratz man ...i know this feeling ....so pleased to see you happy ...keep it going
That was awesome, great video.
The music selection was great with the 32 over slot redfish, it was like watching a movie, had me at the edge for real EXCITING
If I can't go fishing next best thing is to watch you 👍🇬🇧👏👏
Great video narrative, composition and presentation. Well done job skipper and I will give a try.
I'm in Arizona so I dont fish salt water but i use alot of the methods you show shore fishing for catfish here
You need to go fish off London Bridge..lol
@@llshamelessll still fresh water and its really shallow there I think
You guys have progressed so much in the last few years so proud of you.

the tense music for the 17:00 fish made me smile...
thank you for sharing your video with us
You are welcome!
Nice catch and release ! 👍🏻 ❤️
You guys are so fun to watch. I love that the camera lady cheers you on and knows some stuff about fishing too. She's a keeper! Your feet must have been freezing! Love the drum sound track that made my heart stop beating while you were reeling in that big redfish. Great jobs guys! I want to go fishing with you!
Fantastic fishing skill whats ur et up sir pls tns God bles
Great job... Shout out here in North Carolina!!🙏😎
Great video. I was surprised to see that you let your bait fish die. I was anticipating that pier rig you showed in another video.
Enjoyed this video and learner slot from it . Love to go fishing soon
Good job. It’s ok to eat the smaller ones but the slot limit has a purpose and I’m proud of you for understanding it.
Good stuff. Going to Buxton on Tuesday. Really like that new style of tying Hi-Lo rig. Definitely be in the water on Tuesday. Drum, Trout, Whiting, Puffers, Black Drum, Blues.... here we come!
Good luck buddy!
Riggs.. was in Buxton last week and were catching red drum in the surf just north of the old lighthouse location using hand tied 20lb pink Ande mono hi-lo rigs. We caught more than anyone else using these light line rigs. Largest 27” red was caught on a nickel size sandflea, lol. All others using squid and mullet chunks. Smallest red was 23”. All caught in front of the first sandbar. Good luck to you!!
really liking your videos. Im 55 and learned a boat load of info from you
Nice work, great vid. Keep it up from Australia.
Hey skipper, great catch and always good advice. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏼 have you been out fishing lately?
@@HeySkipper yer, took my 2 and 4yo girls fishing last weekend, they love it.
Going again this weekend chasing yellow fin whiting and flat head👍
Where at in North Carolina you be fishing
Hi guy's I've just not long got back from fishing on the beach wall and i got four fish and not one bit of wind just fog and they was on the rig you showed in the last video thanks for sharing your great video's always love watching them here in the UK all the best to you and your lady and your family, and to the care that you give to the fish i absolutely agree with you i use a dropnet or i go to the steps to release the fish
Great education on poles and species..ty☺️
Hey Skipper. You are the coolest!!!
Wow good Idea on fishing small bait catches big fish. helping each other is a good policy in life done.
Enjoyed the fishing video while adding fishing line to my reel.
New to the channel good quality information..... keep the great content coming brother 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Pure legend nice catch 🎣
Great tips and videos thanks 🙏 and god bless you and your family
Thank you so much for watching and hope you get in some nice fish 👍🏼 wishing you and your family well
I found that in the OBX my best bait was the fresh finger mullet. If I left the bait in the water for more than five to ten minutes with out a bite it became crap food. I also poked wholes in the finger mullets just behind the gills and cut the tails off. Fish On!
So nice idea
Nothing like that Rush ,' Great Job Brother
Very informative, thanks for conservation of fish to fight for another day 👍
Excellent video! Congratulations
Thought this was the camping video I was waiting for can’t complain never used cut bait till I started watching you catch with it see you next week .
We are still camping here just not ON the beach
@@HeySkipper yeah the wind on your tent wouldn’t be enjoyable I assume good and bad things about the beach 🐟
"It's a big fish's life that's ON THE LINE here.." ba dum tss.. ;)
But "eight with bait" to erin's "wait with bait" even topped that one. :D
awesome video can b amazing wen a big fish take small baits. had so many sharks take some small baits before which was unexpected
Good job bro nice redfish man congratulations.
Awesome video, subscribed!
I go back and watch as many of your videos before we go on our annual fishing trip i to topsail NC lol always good to do a refresher course lol and I try and teach as many as I can on proper handling of fish . Fresh water or salt !
So back in day I would have a list of my filming gear to help others with filming info in my discription.
Be cool if you posted your gear set up with fishing like reel & rod combos and bait etc ect...
Some really beautiful reds!
Thank you!
Complete rookie here. (Just moved to SW Florida.) Really enjoyed the video. Very well done, and informative. Good work!
Excelente pescaria. Peixes grandes e boas dicas
you make some good videos! keep it goin!
Awesome video as always. Have a go using live bait fish, my brother and I use live bait all the time. Can tell when a predator fish is after your life bait because you can feel the live been frantically trying to escape the predator fish 🤟
Hi bro thanks for sharing fishing at the sea..
Well done for releasing with care. Thumbs up!
Great video…..love your explanation///✌️✌️✌️
I love the the hint of music under the wave noise. Great editing
