I love these things, they're quintessentially Australian. Big and unwieldy but tough as nails, will go anywhere with ease and last forever. Great video mate, cheers.
Our next door neighbour has one of these. Hes got a Viscount Nipper rear door caravan built into the tray and custom everything. He took me on the canning stock route back in 2004 and it was an epic drive. Handled the dunes beautifully.
i got to go on an outback adventure in NT back in the 90s and they had one of these to drive us round in. had no idea what it was until now. Great vid as always Ross!!! Keep up the great work mate!!!
Heard of the brand but never knew they're in Australia and still making them! This is similar to a MB Unimog and I'm really looking forward to more crazy reviews like this and I'm glad these are made in Aus!
i rolled one of these when l/h/f steering tyre blew out 3 hour round trip shopping trip for 2 x weeks supplys exploration drilling crew Drillex, the beer was saved
My customer in Victoria bought one brand new in about 1991 I think. I used to service it for him, you are right it was shockingly gutless. Nice to see the cummins slipped in.
Ive seen a few okas before as tourist bus's in far north Queensland and in the Northern Territory. I remember as a kid at the camping and 4x4 expo in sydney in the 90s they had one on the test track, they also had a landrover bush rangie. Anyhow, the oka was an offroad beast.
Bloody pulling more hens teeth out of the bag Jon and im loving it. Now thats a rig that could tour Australia with ease should ask old mate if you can borrow it to come over east
10:12 Eugene, Oregon. We have a dozen mid-90s Dodge Cummins 4x4 pick-up trucks. We operate a small organic teaching farm, we use our vehicles for delivery to farmers markets and local-owned family-operated grocery stores. We rarely see less than 25mpg... about 9l/100kg.
I know this video is a bit old I've just stumbled across it funny looking off road truck LOL good to see you reviewing more than just fast cool cars man you should review more rare things like this rig.
@@qldjoe They were made by a marine window company (alpha marine windows) in canningvale. Probably not around anymore, they are boat windows so maybe look in that area.
I used to love oka's then I saw a unimog!!!! There has been an oka at mechanics in Coolgardie on the main highway for years anyone who has done kal or East trips will know exactly what I'm saying
As an OKA owner it's good to see them on YT, but man you need to do more research before posting. Mine has the 4 cyl 4.0 Perky and sure it's gutless but will cruise all day at 110. As for turning circle, it will get around inside my son's GU. It might be high, but it's really not much bigger than a Ranger relatively. I love it.
03/09/2022 THANK YOU. I was aware of the OKA but never knew that it was built in Australia. Realisticly, I would suggest that Dept of Defence should order a couple of thousand for NORFORCE etc. If I ever get my licence back and I have the dollars, this will be the way to go!
Hi Mate,WTF that's a house boat on wheels,it's definitely unlike anything you've reviewed before, but the variety of different vehicles is what makes this channel so great & you look 4'10 standing next to it lol,I enjoyed the vid Johnny & got a laugh as well cheers.
@@nevyn9050 There's about 25 with Duramax's in them, more HP but not as much torque. Only 1 with a 6.7L Cummins at the moment, heard of another one that is about to be done.
@@moose2367 Didn't know there were so many with the duramax.. I think I'd prefer the cummins anyway. I see the current supply standard is the 4 cylinder.. I guess they'd put the 6 in if asked. I'd ask
Looks like an off the shelf parts special. No where near European levels of sophistication. Very industrial and basic. Abundance of straight panels. Yep Australian.

Love the transperth train seat covers
🤣 ikr locally made and it shows 👌

I see one of these around Melbourne but didn't know they were so rare!
They were made in Bibra Lake / Spearwood Western Australia.
Thanks mate! Love doing weird and unusual stuff
@@RossReviewsau No problem... Anytime!
I worked at OKA for a couple of years.
Really how was that!?
i rolled one of these when l/h/f steering tyre blew out 3 hour round trip shopping trip for 2 x weeks supplys
exploration drilling crew Drillex, the beer was saved
just remembered the one we had was a 4 x cyl perkins
replaced the wheel, filled oil/coolant and drove it home, lost most of the fresh food
my 12 years in wa the oka was a major drillex vehicle
awesome work! i figured these would be epic for exploration! ps i used to do diamond drilling ;)
One day I will go round Australia in something like this.
The best thing too tour Australia in
It could only be one step up from the enjoyment of changing gears in an old Datsun 180 b , just snapping the lever back is so fun

thanks for the info! crazy you used to service one! haha
I did like the look of them but the idea of a 4 L 4 cylinder sounded a bit slow. Cummins sounds like a better engine option.
Unimog way cooler
@@KirkBognar
They are heaps dearer to own and run
Going by the used costs

glad you enjoyed this one mate

I did! love it out there

Very similar to TransPerth seats
HAHA the same im sure
haha love the train seats
I've always wanted an Oka, price drailed me.
Two seat rows and you can get inflatable beds that slip in each row cheap from Kmart
It’d be like my first truck cause it had a crash box
They go better with a 6.7L Cummins and 6sp Allison, 300hp 1200nm, great as my daily driver. For comparison, 0-100 in under 11 secs

Can you tell me who bought them in UAE if you know
I want one
Beasts eh!
Looks like a beast
the BIG ONE! haha

At least one hand on the steering wheel is recommended, rather than both arms waving about!
Maybe better just getting an ex ADF Unimog? Though, at least this can cruise at highway speed🇦🇺
was impressive cruising in this! SO DAMN MASSIVE
