    Drove these for several decades. Unstoppable in the right hands. But its not 12 tonne, thats GVM. Its 5.7 Tonne plus about 1.5 tonne of gear on the tray if all those 44's are full. That's almost the same as the insane weight of the LC/trailer combo. But the mog is cruising it whereas the LC will be working its arse off...and most probably sucking more fuel than the mog!!!

    • @jasonf1451
      @jasonf1451 2 года назад +5

      Most all terrain vehicles are truck width. Its just that here in Australia, we are backward due to the transport authorities being anal retentive and very ignorant to change and do not permit any of the really serious all terrain vehicles to be imported, so we have learnt to think that the toy's we have like Toyotas, Fords , Datsuns, etc are real 4x4's. Top end all wheel drive vehicles are in the million dollar plus plus range. So for those lucky enough to have even a poor mans small 4x4 such as a Unimog, why not let them have their fun in the sun.

    Seems those guys are overdoing the drama as they often pick the less sensible track options, so it is not advisable for novices to attempt that strategy for outback journeys, but then it is about entertainment for people, most of whom may never try to do any serious off-road driving.! It remind me of Bear Grylls and his high octane show of survival in the wild, where much of what he do is not something any novice could, or should attempt, as the main objective is creating excitement for entertainment and people should realise that.🙄...

    • @jasonf1451
      @jasonf1451 2 года назад

      Yes agree. When you've spent say $150k to $300k upgrading an ex ADF Mog, you don't want to damage it by taking the worst track possible.

Roothy came up gunshot in Milo and destroyed a front cv just to get an exciting shit for camera,his face told the truth,far from happy Jan. Another Mad c--t Foster would drive the Unimog 8th gear in reverse load of old Tea tree dried roots with blokes on the back as if they did a U Turn off the track the old tree stumps would puncture the sidewalls and we had to clear a drop zone. It was mad watching a Unimog doing near 60 plus KMS in reverse with a load and blokes on board but thats why the Took away the units wings because of hundreds of out there shit we got away with...≥

    Takes a lot to do better than a well-maintained Mog, ofc that's reflected in the price tag too.
    That aside, no offense but your chainsaw can't do small logs like that? What length bar are you running? 2" ? 🤣

    I will never understand why anyone would drag a trailer like that out into that kind of country and trails. Stop being soft and just take a tent and a couple of coolers and some way to cook that's all you need. If you need a big bed and a room around you with all the comforts of home then just take a vacation somewhere and get a hotel room. I've seen more trucks torn up trying to pull trailers in places like this that it makes no sense to even attempt it. To each their own i guess. When i go off to spend a night or two out on the trails i just take the bare minimum of what i need and enjoy the ride without having to lug a trailer all over the place.

    Great story, but the additional commentary from 3 person is a bit weird, would be a lot better if either if you guys did it

      It's a proper T.V series mate, not a bloody YT show. Hence the commentary.

      Pickles auctions every month. They average about $26k for the 4x4's but can go up to $70k for special versions such as dump trucks. 6x6 recovery versions can be $100 plus k.

    The way people inflate their weights...
    79 series kerb weight 2200kg = 4000kgs with a canopy haha.
    Unimog kerb weight 5500kg = 12000kg with a spare tyre and some gear lol.
    GVM is not your weight...these people always bullshit everyone, it's tiring.
