- Hello and welcome to the first episode of our wedding series! Wanted to start of with a Q&A answering some of your frequently asked questions. Are we having a destination wedding, when are we getting married, is a destination wedding cheaper, whats our budget, finding a wedding planner, how big is our wedding… and a little about my wedding dress!!

Don’t do a first look. Wait until you walk down the aisle. It’s such a beautiful moment. I swear in that moment it was like everyone in the church disappeared and all we could focus on was each other. The photographer captured our reactions and it was amazing. I have the biggest smile and my husband got teary eyed. I relive that moment every time I look at those photos

I planned my whole wedding on excel! (my husband and I are excel nerds🤓) its fantastic for keeping track of your budget with all the nifty financial tools as well as awesome for creating and assigning guest tables.) Highly recommended 👍🏻
Maid of honor does bridal shower. I as Mother-of-the-Bride, hosted traditional English tea for bridesmaids, maid of honor and bride-to-be a month before the wedding (fun!); also took care of destination wedding, dress, cake, flowers, photographer, etc for my daughter. Hosted a hospitality suite for guests at hotel the night of wedding, after wedding reception. (Really fun.) Also hosted morning-after-wedding brunch for wedding party and guests at hotel where guests stayed. (Really nice way to close out festivities and thank guests.) (Wedding party stayed at historic mansion where wedding was held.) Usually groom’s family hosts rehearsal dinner, but I did that too because of a last minute hitch. It was all worth my daughter’s and son-in-law’s happiness.

Question: are you guys going to have a separate honeymoon? I’ve seen some people have a destination wedding, but the destination isn’t necessarily where they’re honeymooning. If you guy’s are having a separate honeymoon destination, what are your guys’ top 3 choices?
Sooo I did a first look for my wedding because I got married in the winter time so we had pictures before the actual ceremony and I didn’t mind it at all. I feel like it takes the edge off of things. And we were able to look at each other and laugh and talk about how we looked etc so you get the moment it’s just not in front of 100 people. So I think if you’re an intimate kind of girl a first look may work for you!
Hi Nathalie, I’m also getting married in Casa De Campo in May 2024 and would love to know if you chose one of the wedding packages through Casa De Campo or if you’re doing it the private route and getting your own villa, and have to find your own vendors?
When booking with Theresa, I thought the wedding packages were the only way to go, but once I found your video of your friends wedding on tik tok and the wedding that Asha Bailey photographed (Which i totally LOLed realizing we found the same Pinterest photos of that casa de campo wedding) i realized people went a private route, wondering what’s better & the price differences. I also wanted a private wedding planner but was told i wasn’t allowed and had to use theirs - so would love your insight! 😊
Alexis - great questions! I'm also looking to get married in Casa De Campo at some point in 2024, and the information overload they provide about their packages you when you first reach out is overwhelming and not the easiest to navigate (the on-site tour also didn't include a detailed conversation about the ins & outs of the "fine print" within their packages). My fiance and I are hesitating to outsource this admin process to an independent wedding planner because they would be considered an "external vendor" (the issue that Nathalie describes from 16:30). It's less about the cost for us (since this venue is definitely not for couples on a strict/tight budget) but rather to make sure we're providing straightforward information for our guests whose options are also restricted (and potentially prohibitively expensive for those flying in from the US/Europe who would be forced to stay for 3 nights) if you go with their resort packages.

I heard from another girl that married around 2021x Jackie I can’t remember her last name. She mentioned that some of her guests rented airbnb villas but inside casa de campo. But according to the information they provided base on packages they don’t allow guests that are not staying at the resort, probably this is a new rule.
I just got married in Punta Cana and my husband is gringo too! I did not do a first look because i wanted him to first see me walking down the aisle and if he didn’t cry i was gonna turn around lol! To make sure he didn’t freeze up and just show his true emotions i did an unplugged ceremony and only allowed my photographer/videographer to record. It was worth it!! To have that moment with everyone present instead of looking at us thru their phone screen!
2023 bride here! I’m doing a Destination Wedding as well and couldn’t agree more - securing an official date/venue was the most stressful part! So excited to follow your wedding journey! ✨
I am also getting married in June 2022 and it will be a destination wedding. We chose to get married in Punta Cana Dominican Republic. Our budget was $8000 but ended paying $5500. We ended up getting a head count of 43 guests.

I debated the first look too but to ensure I captured his true emotion at that exact moment it was just him and I and two photographers - one facing me the other facing him. When it was edited and put together it was beautiful. Definitely do it. I got the tears and watery eye I wanted to see.
Agree! We did the first look and it was a moment that we had between us and our photographers captured it beautifully.
One of the most important maid of honor duties is leading the charge to plan the bridal shower, from choosing a venue to sending out bridal shower invitations, planning games to choosing favors...Oh, and the MOH is in charge of putting together the bachelorette party, as well! 🤭

Yes do the first look! I had a destination wedding in Puerto Rico in 2019 and I was just like you. We got married in a Catholic Church and I wanted that moment of walking down the aisle and having my husband see me for the first time in that moment. But that is my biggest regret. Our pictures were so rushed and were not good at all😥. Breaks my heart every time I look back at them.

Girl I completely understand how you feel about the first look. When my wedding planner initially asked me about it I said no way, not happening. Then as time went on my fiancé and I figured it would be best to do so since we are having an evening wedding and it’s also early October. So we want to make sure we have some nice photos during the day.
**Regarding dress-quick tip** take your time! Even if you fall in love with one the first time around, make sure you give yourself a chance to go to other places and try other dresses on. If you’re still stuck on that initial dress, then you know it’s the one.
Also- Jochy is really nice & I feel like you guys would have totally hit it off.

Girrlll just have ur makeup girl touch up ur makeup and just walk down the aisle, that moment is so much more impacting than the first look, also, i really recommend u find a makeup person here in DR since they really prepared/trained to do a wedding makeup that will last in this humid weather.
My husband and I were supposed to get married at casa de campo this year! We were super excited but then covid happened and we thought about rebooking for next year but their packages changed IMMENSELY and required everyone to stay there which wasn’t realistic for my family in DR since it’s way too much for them😭
They will recommend photographers but definitely recommend looking into Adolfo Florentino for pics. He was such a sweetheart and super talented!

Personally, Im not a big fan of the first look thing. The first look while walking down and everyone can see that reaction from him too. But I’ve seen a couple of videos that are really cute of people who went with that route.
I am also currently planning my wedding en Casa de Campo for 2023! Please share all your details, as I have no idea if my experiences are normal lol
She mentioned at least 40,000 obviously depending on the people but since you are planning it this year what is the starting rate for a wedding in that area just an estimate
Congrats! So very happy for you. This series will be so exciting! There is no fast and hard rule for who gives a bridal shower. My maid of honour along with my bridesmaids had a shower for me. My mother and mother-in-law collaborated on another shower. My co-workers had a shower for me. Each shower had a different theme, and there was little to none overlapping of guests. I also had a bridal registry which made it easier for people to choose gifts. Each shower was so different and each had an intimate feel. I think the largest was 20 in total.
Smart Lady, know what is a priority for you as you mentioned it is the photos you will have for life! Many don't think there is a difference in photographers. The look and feel is important. Budget is VERY important but prioritizing helps with the budget, and what is most important to you! I am so glad you saw the signs from the 1st planner, tune into your instincts, esp. since you can't visit the venue anytime you want when it is a destination wedding. I know you will have a beautiful wedding, as a couple you are both stunning!!!!! Deep breaths! All will workout in the end, you seem to have it all together, some days will be stressful! LOVE your process. Can't wait till 2023!!!!!!!!!!! My family and friends were small group as well, but you can come to a balance with invites. Only those that will be in your life for the next few decades are the chosen! I can't wait to see the actual wedding. I'm patient I would hate to see you give it all away just now. Can't wait for the SHOWER!!!!!!!!! Your registry is key and you are on top of that already! Much Love and success in the most important adventure you both will take into your future together!

Have a a first look because it saves you so much time! What usually happens if he sees you walking down the aisle you have to take pictures during cocktail hour and personally i would love to be apart of the cocktail hour with my husband and all my guest. You pay all this money so deff enjoy every minute.

We did first look, couple & family formal photos before the ceremony. We were very relaxed /no rush to get all the shots we wanted. At the ceremony and reception we got lots of candid shots and some posed group photos & tradition photos. My groom still teared up as I walked down the aisle.
Congrats! If photos and videos are a priority then do First Look. Either way it will be memorable.
I did a destination wedding in Los Cabos and it was an absolute dream come true. The hardest thing was working with vendors so far away, especially for the photographer because I was so concerned I wasn’t going to be able to find someone who could give us the quality I wanted. Thankfully I found an ahhhhhmazing photographer who was worth every single penny. I did noooot do excel 🤢 I went the old school wedding binder route and that helped me 10000% to stay organized. Anything we needed- check the binder. Flight details? Binder. Package info? Binder. Receipts? Binder! I had a consultant at the resort, but I planned the entire wedding myself and actually preferred and enjoyed it that way. I booked flights, stays, flowers, packages- found this amazing company that made these gorgeous “passport style” wedding invitations that my guests fell in love with (like they literally looked like passports!). Everything. Good luck and try to enjoy the process. Once everything comes together, just let it go and have fun!

Walking down the aisle and seeing that natural reaction that your husband gets is so memorable I loved it so much and literally was everyone’s favorite part as well lol. Im from New Jersey and I had my wedding last year in June and it was actually the week that there was a legit heat wave and our ceremony was outdoors which was rough being so hot in dresses and suits but we had a short and sweet ceremony which wasn’t so bad. I definitely loved that feeling of walking down the aisle it was so memorable. Can’t to see how beautiful your wedding will be ❤️❤️

Love weddings, beautiful. But I rather use the money for a huge down payment on a house. However, if you can pay $40k for a wedding and have that same amount or more for a down payment on a house, fantastic. Good luck.
Happy for you! I had a destination wedding in DR and it was much cheaper than in the US but I think that’s because I chose wedding packages at an all-inclusive resort in DR. Looking forward to seeing your wedding planning/wedding journey!

I believe all hotels in Dominican Republic charge for all outside vendors even hair stylist and make up artists as well as musicians and DJ/Emcee services. That’s why it’s suggested to keep the vendors that the hotel offers you or the venue to avoid excess costs.

I did not do a first look. I wanted my walk down the aisle to be filled with anticipation of seeing each other. A first look removes all of that. Also, doing a first look takes time and time is one thing that will have a lot of that day. Time flies and things run late, so the less you have to do and move around that day, the better.

I wouldn’t do a first look as to me the time when he first looks at you at the altar with your guests as witnesses is just the main wedding highlight for everyone. Got married in PR that’s very similar to DR weather. Claro depende de la temporada porque tenemos el calor húmedo y el calor intenso. I didn’t do the first look. No regret! His reaction was very special. 15 yrs after I still remember his reaction and words…

I am not getting married nor have I ever been married but I don’t think I’d do a first look. To me it just makes walking down the aisle a little less special. Just my opinion!
My opinion on the first look is not to do it. Have your glam team on hand. This way they’ll retouch, makeup, hair etc.

I originally intended to spend 50k and ended up paying 75-80k not including my dress or honeymoon. I think it's about expectations. I had a hard time adjusting mine and preferred to accept the financial hit it would mean. You can't have good taste with pennies.
