- I've done mapmaking on and off for the past few years, but nothing has come close to this in terms of sheer cool factor. cp_fnaf is a spiritual port of the FNAF games, featuring a working camera system, closable doors, and even a way to turn off the power. This is just a showcase, but I'll definitely do a full gameplay session with it at some point. Let me know if you can think of any improvements to either the map or the ruleset!

Honestly the crappy camera fps sounds pretty on-brand for the fnaf games. Static and low framerate might even be a potential "Difficulty setting" to make it harder for the guards if you wanted to go that way. As for the name, perhaps cp_nightwatch? Alternatively, something more to do with spy, like cp_espionage_night or something similar. Either way, cool map!

Sns for "Sit n' Survive", because RED spends the majority of the time in one spot, and because it's basically a whole different gamemode from Control Points.
you could always look at really basic names, like cp_pizzeria, cp_nightshift, cp_overnight. Could also be something thats a word play, like cp_calzonepanda

Do you think it's possible to make all the spies use their MvM model? It would definitely fit right in with making them more like actual animatronics
Ive certainly been on custom servers with server plug-ins that can do that
that's definitely possible as a little before VScript they added model replacing support. Could be neat.

I feel like a good name would be cp_diner.
I also feel like the map might be a little too simple in its current state, maybe 2 or 3 more rooms could do the trick.
He should add ghosts that can be spawned by the spies
Imagine a gamemode where its CTF but with one Flag and its in the security office and theres like 1-2 people in the office that can only use the doors to defend it while everyone else just try to get the flag

You might be able to eliminate the need for class restrictions using VScript, since you can change things class speed and weapon damage. You might even be able to make all weapons universal with custom animations
And possibly eliminate cosmetic restrictions
My personal reccomendation to the map would to add more details.
Making a map lived in is what makes or breaks many maps in tf2, also depending on the style you want to go for it might be good to make everything look exceedingly decrepit and trashed

@Monkhandle No, I think his criticisms are very valid. Great Blue himself even says that he didn't really know what to put in some rooms. It would greatly improve the atmosphere to make the rooms feel more "lived in", but the problem is that TF2 doesn't have a lot of props that can really accomplish that. He'd have to import new models to make it feel "lived in".

This looks really good. About the slowness on animatronics, could you just use vscript to apply the natasha effect to every player on BLU? And could you force them into civillian mode, that would be terrifying?

So I like how this is headed, but I think a sort of "vent flush" would be a good idea, have it be on a decent cooldown, but it flushes all spies from the vents and locks them down for a good 10 seconds?
You know it probably be ridiculously hard to balance but demoman with the Scottish resistance would be really fun

@@Artur-xd6ve spah, there are no pyroes and it's a confined area, if the spy manages to coordinate with his teammates for a push he can sap the sentry and an ubered soldier take care of the rest

This oddly reminds me of that one fnaf map for Black Mesa that was packed with the "hazard course" custom map, which is also pretty neat.
As for you map, you could always toggle the lamps' skins through inputs so they can actually appear turned off in blackouts.
Another small idea of mine is adding noticeable env_sprites on a camera prop everytime you open its respective monitor, useful for the spies to either let them know you're watching them or straight up taunt you.

This as an attack defend map with the new mechanics would be incredibly cool, different segments could be different parts of the facility
It feels really small and bumping into doors is very confining, a bit more space would make other classes viable to maneuver around, kind of like junction

And in all honesty, this is pretty good for someone just making a map after a long break, at least from how I see it (never made maps so I could be wrong here).

I think cp_patrol would be a good name. Since thats what your kinda doing as the defending team.
It'd be amazing if you could force the attackers to use the MVM robot models.
those cameras are pretty sick! imagine actual gameplay in here with the doors and cams! this would work pretty neatly
you could add a slow effect on the animatronics when they spawn that lasts the entire round if you want to manage class speeds. I'm sure with vscripting it would be easier to do.
if there's a condition for slowing player speed, he can just make a large trigger_add_tf_player_condition that covers the whole map and set it for only blue team
Maybe even set class limits to specific classes for each animatronic, so the guard has to act to counter each class mechanics separately

As for a completely non-fnaf name, I’d say cp_horrorhouse or cp_lightsout. Might come back with a different name if I think of something
Honestly, even IF your hammer skills are mediocre, you have a good platform to show off any of your map work. Theoretically, you also have a good enough fanbase to test your work, too! What's the worst it can to do you to have something else to do with the TF2 community in this day and age?

Hi! I made a fnaf map as a small passion project a little while back; it was called Five Minutes at Freddy’s (or, cp_fnaf1)! It got moderately popular on the workshop for like a week lol. I managed to figure out how to make working doors and cameras (post-update lol) and even killzones that mimicked electric shocks, and I was very proud of myself despite the map looking crummy haha. I designed my map to be only playable with the hl2 flashlight (which can be used in tf2!), so the end result was super eerie. I love what you did here, this map looks sooo much better than mine and incorporates some pretty cool concepts! Awesome job!

imagine looking at one of the cameras and seeing an A-Posing Scout as the audio feed repeats "Need a Dispenser Here!"
Imagine a map like this where red is split. Imagine like mixing the Fnaf 1/2 maps onto one map, and making two offices and two capture points. Maybe a button in each office that helps the other one.
Or, maybe split the door buttons to help buff defense? I’d remove dispensers in like a balance, but being able to close 2 doors at a time or one left/one right door might make them stronger
personally, i think you should make the vents smaller so people have to crouch to get inside them. it'd make them look better as well as making them a little more balanced, since you'd move slower through them too

The powerout state genuinely surprised me at how dark it is, I’m surprised TF2 could get that dark.
Maybe one day there’ll be a map that uses that Darkness for a realistic tone or something

On the camera thing, it being PowerPoint presentation speed is on-point for the actual game.
considering that it's based off of monitoring movement and has spies as the attackers, i think something like cp_espionage could be a good name. though i do agree with people here that it may need a little more life and character in it - maybe revamp the look of it away from the pizzaria stuff into a small section of a RED base, i.e. the computer rooms at the back of 2fort? or maybe make it a RED-branded place that's actually just a front for some stuff they're getting up to
I definitely like the idea of it being a pizza place that's just an obvious RED front - feels very TF2.

It'd be quite interesting to see this become sort of like a Community Game Mode, similar to Versus Saxton Hale or Dodgeball. Interested to see what other people do with this concept.
TF2 is like Warcraft 3 in terms of mods, glad to know they're still growing and get even more creative

cp_observer is a good callback to a tf2 fad and fits the concept of cameras
Now with power of VScript we can bring in TF2 really cool maps and game modes. For example I wanna to see a badwars version of TF2 with upgrates from MVM, and maybe u would also can upgrade ur base or even build defences for it.
And I also hope to see that some people made full singleplayer map like custom solo mission. Or maybe even full fuctional RPG coded into a map.

I know how ridiculous this sounds, but I can totally imagine this becoming a new map style with its own rules and playable characters, like versus saxton hale or zombie fortress.
Or even Slender Fortress considering there's actually FNAF-themed maps for it with the respective characters as bosses.
This is genuinely really cool and actually makes me wonder about the possibility of a multiplayer FNAF fangame and/or FNAF-like
Fnaf was the reason i found out about TF2 so this makes me very happy to see, miss seeing the two universes collab
Another interesting idea: maybe give the guard certain abilities/powers corresponding to the class (e. g. scout runs fast, engie blocks things, sniper can throw piss to make animatronics more visible during a black out(?))

the classification system of defining how far something has progressed (in this case the map) there is Demo, Alpha, Beta then release
This map also has the bonus of feeling like a early tf2 community map (in a very great way)
Also I would recommend the name cp_pizza_restraunt based on those aesthetics alone, but whatever the case, I'm exited to play this map with friends
the players on the offending team should look like the mvm bots painted to look more like the actual class

The first thing that came to my mind is how often TF2 mercenaries models are being used on FNAF SFM around 2014-2017
I think using arena mode logic(no respawns) would add to the experience and deaths would be quite impactful.
