Dan you know what to do. Containers strong point are their corners NOT the roof.
If you read the little green book on how to secure you load and do it that way you won't have any trouble at the scales. Stay safe Dan and Bailey I'll see you on the next one.
I hauled empty containers for years on flatbed. Many out of Suffolk, Norfolk areas and even empty tanks that were previously placarded . Had to stop at check station and show washout papers before was allowed go thru tunnels.

Well said Dan, you have the book and follow it. Anyone who would take the time to look at a conex box on a transport trailer would realize that they are only secured to the transport trailer at the four BOTTOM corners by design.
You brought back old memories...I lived in Warsaw, N.C for three years. Learned how to crop and hang tobacco during my summers as a kid for $1.25/hour. Learned how to work in those fields.
Do what you do and never mind the RUclips experts. You my friend are experienced from many years and know the way its done.

All empty or full Containers
Have twist locks on each corner of the Trailer
They have twist lock receptacles. The lock pins are on the trailer if so equipped. Dan's flatbed is not so equipped, therefore chains are acceptable.

The know it alls are everywhere. It’s amazing how many DOT inspectors don’t know the rules either. And then when you point out in the handbook they come up with there interpretation. Lol safe travels Dan, enjoy the videos.
Dan I like your comment about quoting the rules…..besides that if they used a little common sense …Have I ever seen a custom deck for hauling containers have straps over the containers…..answer never…containers are like hauling heavy equipment as long as all four containers are secured you are good to go.

Hi Dan. Although I've done it I'm not much of a coast to coast guy either. Nowadays I prefer dedicated runs. Happy trails !
I will never question how a fellow driver wants to secure their load. Chaining the front and back is plenty for an empty sea box anyway. Now if someone doesn't know and asks me something, I just tell them how I would do it. That is all I can really do. End of story. Same gioes for me not knowing the first time I haul something Im not familiar with or haven't had on my trailer in a long time. I not afraid to ask somebody that looks like they probably know the answer. I suppose I could consult the book but it always seems vague and hard to interpret. 14:42

Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. That you are Dan a professional. I am sure you have hauled containers of various sizes and weights over the years and know what to use when securing a load to your deck. Container chassis as you know only secure the loaded container at each corner . It’s just a lock, nothing fancy but it does what it’s supposed to do. Hauling RGN, step deck or flat is an art when securing loads to them. Run a deck for a few years like you have and guess what you know what your doing. So Dan your going home. I remember going home after being away for awhile. I would recognize everything but I felt not much of a bond to what I was seeing. The bond was formed in the tractor. I have said this before Dan it's not cheap fuel it's cheaper fuel because we haven't had cheap fuel since October 2020 and that's when It was $ 1.57 a gallon .
