Love the opening shot there Dan, very beautiful often times opening in a small town can be of great benefit to a company. If the town can support the labor requirements then the lower cost of living means they can pay lower wages and the community is happy to have them there. If the company is cool about it it can be a win win situation.
You should have a poster made of that opening shot freeze frame. Ya. Very cool.... plenty of room for a bit of print but... either bneath the shot or above it but the shot should remain as is... fantastic.
Yup Dan what you mentioned about the air lines moving them to the back... that's easy peasy but the problem guys run into is the coiled lines will rip or break in winter when your in tight situations.. so I ran mine to the back and used all straight rubber airlines and straight electrical lines from the truck to the trailer .. I wish I could somehow send you pictures ..
Also the fact that there coiled and bulky they tend you collect all snow and get ice packed and heavy .. shot me an email I'll send you pictures of my setup .. I'm not saying I have the best but it hasn't let me down either .
Always nice seeing you Dan. Looks like things are going pretty good except the truck stop insolent. At least your truck and nice new trailer are running good and you are able to keep trucking safely. Thumbs up on your video, I always enjoy them.....
I hit many small towns like that in my OTR career and loved places like that. Sure beats NYC! Delivered there way too often. Very much enjoying the videos. Give Theresa our best.
Dump valve $aves from scrubbing and destroying your tires also. On 5mph u-turns/sharp turns, and tight truck stop parking especially when loaded. That's my favorite part about it. Grateful This one has one 🥰
Sir Dan !!! With the lines hooked under the trailer ,,you'll have to be careful that they don't get hung on the mud flap brackets in tight turns !!!! Have a good week & ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!!
I remember that well, Dan, it's always the little changes( like on your new trailer) that catch you out. Had a door blow in the wind and hit me in the head one time because I was used to a self-latching one and the new one didn't.
👍 video I'm glad small town factories are still up and coming back,Mann in the 80''s/90's they were dropping like flies and Communities ruined because main Company was the backbone for the others and they were first to go overseas, wild part most were build for 48ft trailers so you learn how to drive at these customers, but glad they are recovering, maybe not what they wanted but they have income
For the airlines I use the straight airlines not the curled ones and I have them wrapped so the sit tight together gives me a ton of room to get up and down without having to worrie about tripping on them.
Dan Good morning Have a nice day Thanks for showing experiences Drive safely Regards Carlos Aguirre Quito Ecuador South America 5 August 2020 09:30 hours
Light, small loads like that can be a nuisance because they have no weight to hold them down and stop them bouncing which loosens the straps/chains etc. I feel your pain 👍. On the plus side it costs little on fuel to pull them. Keep doing what you’re doing 👍
Can you attach a bungee cord to one of those leads with the other end fixed to a point on the cab. That would safely stop them getting involved and causing annoyance.
Hi friend, have just happened accross this video, and enjoyed it,thanks. And in regard to those air lines being like they are, and where they are, please move them to the back of your tractors chassis real soon like. Other wise they will trip you up sooner or later. God Bless, John.
You where I live at Dan Racine. Be safe out there. Definitely go to the California hook ups so you trip and fall. I did find stainless quick disconnect on amazon I will see if I can find the part number and message you them for the California hook ups..
Yea 12 minutes left on your 14 hour day. I wish all motorist would realize that every moment counts on that elog...we gotta go now...tick tock let's get going.
I downloaded that loves app on my phone, and I use it when I get to the pumps, and use the pay feature when I get fuel. Never have to swipe cards, set pump up from the driver seat, in the ac... how lazy is that?? But it works great at about 90% of the loves... depends on phone service. Handy little app...
if you do decide to put them airlines underneath there like that just be very careful on how tight u turn that pete, I pulled a spread axle reefer n did that and them darn mud flaps hitting those lines it will catch ur attention lol
i hate little towns, cause most aren't equipped to handle 53 ft trailers on corners, etc. if you take highway 30 E in PA, you're screwed if you miss your exit to a shipper/receiver. you have to go miles to find a decent place to turn around. did that once, it's why i always hated Pa.
Factories go were they get cheap land, cheap labor, and low taxes and different incentives to operate. You will be surprised if you travel across America. Been doing this for over 23 years now
Hay Dan I did a screenshot of video @ 14.41 . I noticed the last strap on your load is ahead of the lumber. Perhaps an additional strap or that one should be behind the lumber so the timber doesn't vibrate / walk itself out from under the load. I know you would hate to have that happen and hurt someone. Just an idea. Drive safe.
I suggest you make time to move the airlines like you mentioned. Otherwise you will be laying on the ground thinking, I should've moved the airlines. The law of averages will get you.
Dan, that Loves was in Oglesby, IL. I grew up about 30 minutes north along I 39. Are things safe around Mercer Town with all of the protests? Be safe out there!
I do enjoy watching your channel. It is very interesting to see how you arrange everything. This video that took you to Lexington KY, was that to Mercer trucking ( I thought I saw that name on the building ? You have the same name on your truck. Do you work fir them as an I dependent owner operator ?
Would like to how how that air conditioning was installed. I have a camper 110 volt air conditioner would like to get it installed. Hey your videos are great thanks for sharing
Even back in the 80s loved my lift axle( front) dump valve ( rear) from in the cab. Nice sneaking on ohio turnpike few classes cheaper. Lol. They got smart and listened for air so we ran big propane tanks to get exhaust air...truck looked like a centipede. Love the new trailer... only ever bought one new in my life and they were only 15k for a step deck 👍👍
Just 1 question, why does that flat bed and other flat beds not have a solid aluminum top, whats the purpose of the strip of wood on each side? What looks to be around a 2x6
PRIME Transportation in one of their RUclips videos indicate Flat Bed sector is one area being affected by manufacturing sector being affected by production during the PANDEMIC. It appears their busiest trucking business is in Refer and tank truck divisions (The later mostly FOOD grade products.) 🤠🤨
if the axle isn't down, it's a pain to turn. So, I guess you are not going to bid on Uncle Sergue's 96 foot heavy haul trailer system? :) why, just think how in debt you could be!!
Hi Dan, I like the idea of the airlines under the deck but Tim " life is good " had issues with the lines getting caught on the mud flaps. Other than that that's a sweet trailer, like the wheels. Stay safe out there.
I've been doing this 40 years now, and I was never a fan of airlines and light cord under the trailer. It's really only because it makes it a pain when you have to interchange equipment. I can see that it causes a tripping hazard though. All my trailers have some kind of bulkhead though so I never climb that way
That picture at the beginning of the video is one of the best I've ever seen. Well done.
Thanks. I took that picture last winter at a little truck stop in Wisconsin. Thanks for watching
Railroads certainly Service a Variety of Industries but we still need a Lot of Trucks and Drivers. 👍
Lots of American Flags in that small town. My kind of place.
You say thanks for watching, we say thanks for posting. More road/driving footage is always appreciated.
The factory was probably there first, and the town built up around it
That was a cool night shot at beginning 👍👍......that deserved a frame👍👍
Thanks I took that picture last winter at a little truck stop in Wisconsin
Thanks for watching
Not a truck driver, but like watching your videos.
Safe travels Dan
Thanks for watching
Because little towns are only place they have towork and familys are happy to have them .
I pulled a company 48 ft.. With a front lift axle on the spread I loved that trailer for backing up at the truck stops.
Thanks for watching
Love the opening shot there Dan, very beautiful

Love watching and listening to your videos Dan. Thanks
For 7 years I said I was going to put airlines underneath. Finally did and still kicking myself for not doing it 7 years ago.
Plus it’s a lot safer for getting up and down from trailer

LOVE those 10-1 spreads with a dump valve.

wow, 12 mins to spare, good timing Dan!
If what I heard was right, and you unloaded in Racine Wi; that small town is where Case Tractor started building tractors.
Can you attach a bungee cord to one of those leads with the other end fixed to a point on the cab. That would safely stop them getting involved and causing annoyance.
This winter is going to be fun hopping down off that trailer. No foot space.

People have no concept of what trailer tire scrub is
I do since I owe 2 flatbeds and that drives me freaking crazy when I mess up and hit 1
👍😎👍 I've loaded at the first place a couple time pretty nice place.
Be safe, Dan.
Thanks for watching
Super trucker Dan 👍😎✌️

Ha! Yo vivo en Racine. Greetings from my beautiful Wisconsin.
Make a shelf, out of aluminum make L brackets & plate .... gives you a place to step.... covers your plugs and gives you a place to step

Racine is pronounced Ray-Scene for future reference! Awesome videos, driver!
Rail roads and alot of these little town have been built up around these factories
thats gonna be a shin cracker this winter steppin on the front of that trailer i had one like that

I gave up on luvs years ago your just a die hard. Love the new trailer I’m actually thinking on one just like it
our company wont let us fuel at loves.
One of the reason factory move small town is better quality of workmanship they do.

Dan can you give suggestions on how to stay cool when it hot as hell outside. I thought I was going to fall the other. Clothes soaking wet. Thanks
I heard a rumor that Mercer is making yall put dash cams in. If may plans work out I be there (at mercer beginning of next year)

brother in law drove loads for mercer off and on for many years
Dan, Could you hard mount an aluminum step stool on the passenger side of the platform to help access the trailer? I've seen them for $30 at HF.
7:50 - Let me bump into your nice new trailer there.
I saw that myself Brian.

do prime movers or tractors have only one number plate? all that extra height must be for extra strength with thicker combing rails and such

Since you are caught up for now, why don't you get on the net and see if you can find an orange truck that you like. 😏😇
if the axle isn't down, it's a pain to turn. So, I guess you are not going to bid on Uncle Sergue's 96 foot heavy haul trailer system? :) why, just think how in debt you could be!!

The way you roll the tarp is that DOT required or is that the way you choose to do it?
Are ya able to film around Mercer hq? Also if ya don’t get a load the next day would ya return to Mercer?
Did ya get any Dorsey hats?
How do you like the new trailer? Is it lighter to pull with the tractor? Drive safely.
