    Why to create bad opinion about notaries or document preparer persons. There are good people with plenty of knowledge that can fill out Asylum forms the correct way and charge cheaper or less than lawyers. Even the lawyer (plenty of them) make mistakes and have applications denied by judges or immigration and charge an outrageous fee for service. Why demonized others than can help? It is ok just make a warning without imply that anyone other than lawyers know to apply for asylum.

      Thank you for your comment and for being part of the ASAP community! In the United States, only individuals who are licensed attorneys or employees of nonprofit organizations who have a special accreditation from the federal government can legally provide advice about immigration law or assist with choosing or preparing immigration forms. The reasons for this are that immigration law can be extremely complex, and mistakes made even by someone without proper training or certification can have serious consequences. However, you are correct that not all lawyers have equal skill, and there are some who overcharge their clients or do poor work. For this reason ASAP provides the following webpage to help people find legal assistance from nonprofit attorneys, and also a list of attorneys who have been recommended as skilled and fair by local nonprofit agencies: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/
      In addition, we recognize that not every person seeking asylum can find a skilled attorney to hire, so we also provide resources such as Frequently Asked Questions and videos to help people without an attorney to navigate complicated processes: help.asylumadvocacy.org/

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! To request a biometrics appointment, you must include a copy of the first 3 pages of your asylum application and these instructions from the government (www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/legal-docs/Pre%20Order%20Instructions%20EOIR.pdf).

    Hello! This video is very helpful, it clarifies every thing on where to file my asylum application.
    My question is as follow: how many days does it take to receive the receipt notice from uscis after the asylum application is delivered to them?

    • @asylumadvocacy
      @asylumadvocacy  4 месяца назад

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community!
      - If you qualify to file your asylum application with USCIS, you should get a receipt notice from them approximately 2-4 weeks after their receive your Form I-589. The receipt notice may look like this example: help.asylumadvocacy.org/uscis-asylum-application-receipt-notice/
      - But if you have a case in immigration court, then instead you must file the Form I-589 with the immigration court that has your case. In that situation, you will not get a receipt from USCIS until you take an additional step later, to request fingerprints or "biometrics".
      You can find more information about how to file your asylum application, including the differences between filing an asylum application with USCIS or with the immigration court, here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-asylum-application/
      If you do have a case in immigration court, you can learn more about the steps of a case in immigration court here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-immigration-court/#immigration-court-process

    Hello! Thanks for the video.
    1) I submitted my application to the immigration court, and I sent the 1st 3 pages of the asylum application to USCIS Nebraska, USCIS sent me a receipt acknowledgement to let me know they receive the asylum on May 3, 2024. But I still have not received the notice for the biometry. I am wondering if it is because I got my biometric done for an EAD card on February 27, 2024 that they do not sent the biometry notice for me?
    2) I sent only one copy of my asylum application to the Immigration court, but recently I was told I was supposed to send 2 copies of my asylum application to the immigration court instead of 1 copy, can you please clarify these 2 questions for me?

    • @asylumadvocacy
      @asylumadvocacy  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! It is common for there to be a delay between the receipt and biometrics. If you already had a biometrics appointment, USCIS may not require you to go to another one.
      We recommend sending 2 copies of your asylum application, but it is okay to send just one copy to the Immigration Court. The second copy is for the immigration court to stamp and return to you for your records so that you have proof of submitting your asylum application. In addition, you also need to submit a copy to the DHS attorney. You can find more information about submitting your asylum application to the immigration court here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-asylum-application/#immigration-court. You can also find legal help here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/#lawyer. If you have more questions, you are welcome to email us at .

    Do I have to submit copy of my passport all pages (cover to cover) with the asylum application if i file it with immigration court? If yes do i have also to include a copy the passport pages with the copy of I-589 i will send to ICE?
    I have another question Can i use a COPY stamp to stamp the copies (the ICE copy and my copy) and ORIGINAL stamp to stamp the original?

    • @asylumadvocacy
      @asylumadvocacy  Месяц назад

      Thank you for your questions and for being part of ASAP’s community!
      - It is generally not necessary to include a copy of all pages of your passport (cover to cover) with your asylum application if you file it with immigration court. Usually it is sufficient to copy the page with your name and photograph, and also any pages showing a stamp or visa from when you entered the United States or other countries. You may include a copy of all pages, but it is not usually required.
      - When you send a copy of your I-589 to ICE, you should also include a copy of anything else (such as passport pages) that you included with the I-589 you file with the immigration court.
      - We do not recommend stamping form I-589 as "Original" if you file it with immigration court. But if you wish, you can stamp the copy you send to ICE and the copy you keep for yourself with "Copy". But that is not required.

    And I have my friend who filed the asylum with his family and send the 3 pages to the uscs. However, sent him the fingerprint but not for the hold family. Do you know why they don't send fingerprint for my family?

    • @asylumadvocacy
      @asylumadvocacy  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! If a child is under 14 years of age, sometimes USCIS does not require fingerprints. However, if the family members are over 14 years old and they have not received fingerprint notices, it is possible that USCIS has made a mistake.

They can try sending the documents to USCIS Nebraska Service Center again, and include a letter explaining that the family members are included in the asylum application and need fingerprint appointments. You can find more information about biometrics appointments here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-biometrics/. You can also find legal help here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/#lawyer. Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! If you are now in immigration court proceedings and waiting for your next court date, to file for asylum you will file Form I-589 with the immigration court. You can find more information about how to file Form I-589 in immigration court here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-asylum-application/#immigration-court
      Then, once you file Form I-589 with immigration court, you can follow the steps here to request your biometric (fingerprinting) appointment in the future: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-biometrics/#schedule-biometrics

Instead, the court stamps your asylum application when they received it. You can call your immigration court to find out how you can get a copy of your stamped asylum application. Hello, I am helping a family member fill out the i589. My questions are, the submission is directly to the immigration court on the Notice to Appear form? And after 180 days the form for Work Authorization form can be filed. So the fingerprint requirement will come after that? Therefore no need to send the first three pages for fingerprinting? Thank you in advance.

      Thank you for your questions and for being part of the ASAP community!
      - If your family member's case has been filed and started with the immigration court listed on the Notice to Appear form, they can file Form I-589 with that immigration court now. You can find information on how to confirm if your family member has an active case in immigration court here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-general-orientation/#immigration-court-case
      - Generally, someone applying for asylum can file for a work permit 150 days after applying for asylum. You can find information on how to calculate the 150 day "clock" here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/work-permits/#apply-when
      - A person who files for asylum in immigration court must then also take specific steps to request a fingerprint appointment, including sending the first 3 pages of Form I-589 to USCIS. You can find more information here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/faqs-biometrics/#schedule-biometrics
