Great ! Very clear , one question i got about the travel document I-131 , is it possible in case of emergency to get that document in my situation, I crossed the border and attended my master hearing and have individual hearing after 3 years !

It is strongly recommended that you do not travel outside of USA if you are an asylum applicant. You can travel after asylum is granted to you, but you will need to apply for a refugee travel document using I-131.

You said people can apply for a permit work when they get a Paroled at the border; isn’t only when you file for asylum only? I’m sorry Im confused about it. Thanks for your time! I love your voice. 😊

If you are paroled at the border, you can apply for a work permit immediately. If you file for asylum 150 days after you submit your application you can file for a work permit. USCIS will only process your work permit application after 6 months after you apply. If you are paroled for only 1 year it is not worth it to apply for work authorization, because work authorization takes more than 6 months to get. If you are paroled for 2 years or more it would be worth it.

How do you know if you've been paroled at the border?

Go to i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home and complete all your information in the option "GET MOST RECENT I-94," your document number is your alien number. You should obtain your most recent I-94 and your class of admission should state "DT" means paroled.

You will have an I-94 that tell you how long they gave you. If you came under the Humanitarian program from ( Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua) that’s also parole, they get 2 years. Regular parole is 1 year

Very informative, however speaker needs to watch the many "uhm's" and dragging of her voice, it makes it hard to follow, overall great information!
