Hello Dear Sir! I and colleague are considering to apply for asylum. We are french speaking people from the Republic of Congo, and we have come to the USA almost two months ago by plane with a visitor visa . We fled our country because some higher police officers (people who have influence over political parties, social groups, and some local companies) wanted to arrest us, because we did not want to be memberships of a particular social group. So my question is, what do we really need before we submit our application? Currently We have filled the I 589 form, we have written a one page story, we have our passeports on us, and we have our birth certificates and we do have them translated into english. But is there anything else we need before we submit the application?? Any piece of advice would be of a lot of help. Thanking you in advance, Sir!
Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! You may find it helpful to review this video explaining the questions that should be answered by the information you include in your asylum application: ruclips.net/video/Xh5hyRsX6K4/видео.html. Great video very useful, thank you for everything you do. I have a question for you. In the case of application that include family members, how the packages must be organized? The information provided in the USCIS instructions is quite confusing. In the case of the original package, what should I include the Identification documents of my wife and the marriage certificate or not? In the case of my family relative package, what should I include ? Everything from the original package including the evidences? or just the I-589, ID Docs for my wife and I, and Marriage certificate?
Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! In the original package, you should include the identification documents of the family members included in your application. In the family member’s package, you should include a complete copy of the original application (including the evidence), as well as passport size photos of your family member. For specific advice regarding your case, you may wish to consult with an attorney. You can look for legal assistance here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/. Can you pls answer i completed 150 asylum clocks a But nebraska service center did not send my biometric appintment so can i apply i765 for work authorization? Without biometric appointment ?
Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! Asylum seekers can generally apply for a work permit 150 days after submitting an asylum application. If 150 days have already passed but you have not received your biometrics appointment yet, you can still submit a work permit application. You will eventually need to complete a biometrics appointment to continue with your asylum case, but you do not need it to apply for a work permit. Hi, I have a question about filling in this form, and I can’t find the answer anywhere on the Internet. So there are several areas in which I cannot write anything. For example, in part B question 1A. I cannot write there anything even tho it’s clear that I have to provide as much details as possible. So, the question is - what do I do? I don’t want to hand write, as it will take much more space.
Also when I use Adobe reader app i’d doesn’t lets me to use anything besides letters, slash, dots and space. Very confusing, as i need to use coma at least??
Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! Completing the form as a .pdf using Adobe can be frustrating. For Part B, Question 1.A. specifically, it should permit you to write the answer to that very important question if you check the "Yes" checkbox. On other fields, it can be frustrating that it does now allow certain typed characters including some punctuation. Just do your best to include the content of your answer even if the punctuation is imperfect. You may also want to consider another option -- it is now also possible for some people to complete and submit the asylum application online! You can find more information about that, including a video, here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/online-asylum-application/ You can also find legal help here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/find-help/. If you have more questions, you are welcome to email us at .
When you apply with family you have to print separate copies of the same form and attach their pictures in the separate forms. It should be signed by them or the main applicant will sign. Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! In order to save a draft, you need to download the form to your computer, instead of just opening it on your internet browser. What passport number do I have to write in my I-589 if I had 2? Before leaving my country I had 2 passports, one valid and one expired. On the way, shortly before crossing the border, some people stole my current passport to extort money from me, and when I met the border patrol I gave them the expired one. In this case, what passport should I write in the Part A.I Question 21? I'm confused because some people have told me that I should put the number of the one I gave to homeland security, and others tell me to put the most recent. Thank you
Thank you for your question and for being part of the ASAP community! Unfortunately, we are not able to provide specific legal advice in individual cases, only general information. Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! Yes, it is possible to update the form after applying, but the best way to do so depends on whether you are applying for asylum with the agency USCIS or in immigration court. @@asylumadvocacy hello Sir/Ma'am. My lawyer filed for my asylum in California when my case was still pending at the California Imperial Court. It's been over 3 months ➕ now but haven't gotten any updates regarding my application. No receipt issued, no biometrics appointment he doesn't respond to my messages either. I left the California Imperial camp 5 months ago with my credible fear positive results and a notice to appear but my case was later transferred to Boston. Today, I checked my clock using my A Number online as instructed by ASAP on how to check asylum application clock but the system said No Clock. Does it mean, my asylum was not applied?? What should I do? My next master hearing is July 2024. Thank you very much

Hello!i-589 form from USCIS website does not allow me to print in the box of part A . Should I print everything on page 11 of the Supplement B, or should I fill it up with handwriting? Is there a limit to writing on Supplement B? t Thank you.
Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! If you are completing the form on a computer or cell phone and it will not let you type any information into Part A of the form, I suggest downloading the form and trying to open it with a different computer program. If that still does not work, it is 100% acceptable to print the form and then complete it by handwriting. Just be sure to use a black pen and to write clearly. There is no specific limit to how much you can write on Supplement B. Thank you for your question! ASAP only works with asylum seekers who are already in the United States. However, you can learn about the process of applying for refugee status from another country from a different organization called the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP). Their website is support.iraplegalinfo.org/hc/en-us and their facebook page is facebook.com/iraplegalinfo.
@@asylumadvocacy so asylum is for ppl who r inside usa and usa humanitarian visa is temporary ... Isn't there any other form of refugee or that humanitarian visa for bahais for united states?
In general, asylum is a form of immigration relief that people who are already in the United States can request. However, there are other immigration options for individuals who are outside the United States, fear return to their country of origin, and would like to find safety in the United States. You can read more information on IRAP’s website about different options: support.iraplegalinfo.org/hc/en-us/categories/360003007932-I-m-looking-for-information-about-refugee-status-or-immigration-pathways. You can also reach out to them to ask if they might be able to assist in your case direct or provide other referrals.

You can find more information about that, including a video, here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/online-asylum-application/

Thank you

Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! Yes, it is possible to update the form after applying, but the best way to do so depends on whether you are applying for asylum with the agency USCIS or in immigration court.
IF YOU APPLIED FOR ASYLUM WITH USCIS, you can send new information or an amended form by mail to the asylum office listed in the lower left corner of your receipt notice (example here: help.asylumadvocacy.org/uscis-asylum-application-receipt-notice/) with a copy of your receipt notice, or submit more information or note changes through a USCIS online account.

Hello!i-589 form from USCIS website does not allow me to print in the box of part A . Should I print everything on page 11 of the Supplement B, or should I fill it up with handwriting? Is there a limit to writing on Supplement B? t Thank you.

Thank you for your question and for being part of ASAP’s community! It is normal for USCIS to take up to two months to process an asylum application and send a receipt notice. If after two months you have still not received a receipt notice, you can call the USCIS contact center at 1-800-375-5283 to try to get information about your case. Using your information like your name, date of birth, where you’re from, and more, they should be able to tell if your case was received by USCIS. I'm a bahai girl we have been in m nay type of discrimination in my country iran ... Can i also apply from another country? I'm residing in turkey now
Thank you for your question!
