Read it back when you're out of the funk, repeat, with a view to answering the question of what you're looking for > what you're missing. It can be repetitive, but you're refining your thoughts each time. Moving the focus from what you're trying to get away from, to what you're actively looking for will help you identify what you're holding out for.
Once that is clearer to you, then work on answering the question whether that is even possible with this person, maybe focusing your writing on times you got close, and then why it didn't work out. Too often those lingering emotions are the echo or illusion of potential, but in the cold light of day not only is it not there it probably never was.
That's not a silver bullet, but somewhere to start. Think of it like a self dialogue, so you can better perceive who you are in those moments from the outside as it were.
