TED was founded in the 80's with the mission of sharing "ideas worth spreading." And it gained mainstream popularity around '07-08. The problem with TED is that it lingered on long after we ran out of ideas.

He’s not lying about people ripping off Louie CK. I am not joking, every open mic comedy show I’ve been to, people have stolen some of Louie’s less mainstream jokes. Jokes that unless you go down a rabbit hole on RUclips of Louie stand up, you wouldn’t know. I also see a lot of people sneak in a Mitch Hedberg joke. It’s wild. No one that’s ever in my group knows what I’m talking about when I bring up that the comedian stole a joke. I’ve never called out the comedian because it’s usually a college kid who will never make it in comedy anyways, but it’s kinda sad that people can’t just make up their own stuff. I understand being influenced, but when you take a joke word for word…. Cmon man.

I think Sam's breed of comedy is like a breath of fresh air. I didn't quite understood the whole TED Talk when I first viewed it until I did some digging on Sam and immediately started cracking up simply due to the fact that he was trolling these guys.
