Just my opinion: I will start with Superman Returns had a wasted opportunity with its intro sequence. My top 5 moments: 1: Bank heist with big gun on the roof: Seeing the bullets fire off the mini rockets then seeing Supes suddenly standing there with the chest shot 'S' on screen. This just make me think the how the roof would be a bloody mess if he weren't there! 😱The final moment with the bullet shot to the eye was too funny, man! 2: Superman flies back to Metropolis, then does a beautiful mid-air stop: The Superman inspects the ocean bed with X-ray vision, which is shown breaking up! 3: The rescue around Metropolis sequence: Catching the falling sign, the wide beam heat vision dispersing the falling debris, leading to the gas plant when he blows out the emerging fireball with his super breath! 4: Falling Daily Planet globe rescue: As Jimmy yells 'Chief' Superman crashes through the window, through the office space and grabs the object. 'Great Caesar's Ghost', indeed! 5: Plane Rescue: Of course, the best moment in the film imo (colouring looks a little odd to me as he flies through the smoke grabbing onto the wing). The flying, action and intensity, holding the wing, breaks away, spin back momentarily losing his bearings, crashing through the second wing as it breaks off and its pure fuselage. Everything! So darn cool! Honourable Mentions: - Super hard landing on New Krypton, followed by the unbashful shot of the 'S' (hehe!) - Superman flies towards to sun to re-energise, open arms just absorbing the power! (the John Ottoman score really adds to the moment) - Supes lifting New Krypton into space, when he reaches far enough from earth's atmosphere, pushes away. The camera focuses on his eyes, we then see him lose consciousness!

@@Superfitcosplay this was too my first Superman movie in theaters. I grew up with the Christopher Reeves movies and could not wait to see Superman Returns. It's definitely an under rated Superman movie.
As I've said before, for me it was kind of neither fish nor fowl because it didn't work for me as a continuation of the Donner films. Especially with the leads being way too young to believe they are those characters we'd met and had all this history and also the suit looking nothing like The costume of those films with the aggressively muted colors and plasticy look to the cape. But it also doesn't work as its own rebirth to the franchise either. However, I do think it had some great moments, a good score, and I like Brandon. I feel like he and Henry both got a raw deal out of their respective time as Superman due to bad decisions (creative and otherwise) made beyond their control. They both had a lot of potential, and far as I can tell, they both had some genuine affection and respect for the character. At least Brandon got some closure on the CW ( though they wrote him out of the main plot was just so needless and disappointing). But he does get to do a fly by smile to the camera at the end. It was also great to hear the John Williams theme in a theater again. Puts butterflies in my stomach just like it did when I was a kid in 1978. All that said and sorry for being long winded I basically agree with your top 5 on this one.
@@mattlinkous4356 no never apologize. I love the long-winded responses. I do think you’re right in the sense that the leads were very young, but fun fact. Brandon was a year older than Chris was when Chris was cast of Superman. And Cate was not that much younger than Margot Kidder. Maybe a year or two? Welcome to the generation of drinking water haha. It was good that Brandon got some closure. Hopefully Henry does too. It’s not impossible, but it did take a while for Brandon to get there as well.
@Superfitcosplay Wow. Yeah to look at them, you'd think they were barely done with being teenagers. Still that basically makes them at their ages for Superman 1 as opposed to being years after Superman II.
I've had the whole Clark changing to Superman thing on the brain because like you I enjoy the revolving door and Superman II alley way changes despite the fact it's hard to make any sense of them even with super-speed. Heh, in SR he appears to just drop his clothes in the elevator shaft (after leaving a hole in the top of the elevator? Some poor guy has a pair of slacks fall on his head?) I would really love to figure out some kind of relatively solid explanation for those quick changes that didn't involve nanotechnology or the Silver Age idea of a cape pouch (wouldn't that just weigh the cape down and create a big bulge in it? Also what about Clark's shoes?) I'm not saying it has to be "realism" just something that would even make comicbook sense.
I enjoyed the film , yeah it had its flaws but it wasnt the worst of the superman films ( cough quest for peace cough) . I still have never tried to watch directly after 2 to see if it works as a sequel.
@@djstumpy7399 I mean, it doesn’t not work, but it’s just that it doesn’t really have anything to do with it. Like it doesn’t really ignore one and two, I misspoke. It kind of works, but it’s not really direct.
I was really excited for this movie when I found out Bryan Singer was directing, but what a let down. Too much soap opera and not enough action adventure. Tried a little too much to be like the Reeve films. The plane scene and the metropolis/sea rescues were great, that was about it. I didn’t like that they introduced the kid with powers, didn’t like that he spied on Lois. The movie colour filter made it look too dark and the whole movie just looked very CGI, like everything was shot in a sound stage and all fake. The suits S was too small, the red should have been brighter, the neck was too tight, the cape could have had the yellow S. Then you have casting, Lois and Perry were undercast, Lex was good, Superman and Jimmy were also good. Not much chemistry between Routh and Bosworth. Just don’t understand how you get casting so wrong, was watching Lois & Clark recently and everyone was well cast.
@@Geronimo-fv4pv I didn’t mind the casting. I think it was the script ultimately that let it down. But as far as Jimmy and Perry, I think they just didn’t have enough to do. And Lois and Superman just didn’t interact enough except for like these little weird moments.but you’re right, sometimes the chemistry was just off
Brandon Routh was easily the best Superman after Reeve. Way better than Henry Cavill who was too dark and brooding. I'm honestly not too sure about the new guy. Too many co stars in his film.
@@user-or6yn8pm3c I think Henry definitely had moments of not dark and brooding. But I think Brandon was actually very good. Special place for both of them for me.
@@Superfitcosplay Brandon really understood the character. His interpretation almost was as good as Reeve's. I was in shock because I didn't think any actor could come close but he did. It was a crime that WB tossed him for Cavill. Cavill was too dark and brooding but that was mostly Zack Snyder's fault. He was the wrong director. We never even got a proper Fortress of Solitude in that version.
@@Superfitcosplay I got a good feeling about David Corenswet. I hope he just doesn't get overshadowed by too many other characters that James Gunn has in his Superman film.

Some poor guy has a pair of slacks fall on his head?)
I would really love to figure out some kind of relatively solid explanation for those quick changes that didn't involve nanotechnology or the Silver Age idea of a cape pouch (wouldn't that just weigh the cape down and create a big bulge in it? Also what about Clark's shoes?)
I'm not saying it has to be "realism" just something that would even make comicbook sense.
@@mattlinkous4356 I have a feeling this will be addressed in the new movie I don’t know why
@Superfitcosplay Well, given the heavy New 52 influence on the design it seems likely Kryptonian nanotechnology will be involved.
I enjoyed the film , yeah it had its flaws but it wasnt the worst of the superman films ( cough quest for peace cough) . I still have never tried to watch directly after 2 to see if it works as a sequel.
@@djstumpy7399 it’s sort of ignore one and two so you’re fine
@@Superfitcosplay so it doesn't work then ?
@@Superfitcosplay Bryan Singer basically soft rebooted the Reeve film which was unfair to Routh. It basically assumed Superman 3 and 4 never happened and took place after Superman 2. They could have done a stand alone film separately from the Reeve mythos.
