If you look closely at Jason’s facial expressions you can see that he’s breathing slightly quicker and is leaning back, showing some discomfort to the Kryptonite. The only reason it’s not effecting him fully is because he’s half human and has not properly developed his powers yet. That’s why Lois looked scared when she saw lex holding the kryptonite, she was afraid of him finding out about Jason’s true parentage and using her child to hurt superman or worse.
You can tell Lex is suspicious of Jason so he places the krytonite right by his face just to see if it had any affects when it didn't he dropped his suspicion. Only for his answered to be confirmed that one of his henchmen had died from having a piano smashed into him "Yep that's Superman's kid."
Catspaw I’m not sure if you were watching, but Jason DID react, at least enough for Lex to be suspicious, his henchmen’s death confirmed his suspicions
It only effected Jason slightly because of all the medications he was using, whatever it is that runs through a developing kryptonian has to run its course so their bodies can naturally develop their superpowers
I think it triggered Jason’s powers when Lex waves it right in front of his face real close because if you notice Jason stiffens up as if he got a shot.

I don't think people REALLY understand that ‘Superman Returns’ (2006) was a direct sequel to ‘Superman 2.’ That's why Luthor knows where the Fortress of Solitude is and how Superman knocked up Lois. Most people I hear say that they just didn’t really like how Brandon Routh portrayed Superman, but Brandon Routh captured the spirit of Chris Reeves perfectly. He looks just like him at that age (Reeves was also in his late 20s during the filming of the first 2 movies) and totally sold me on this being the same boy scout/awkward dork character from those films. I agree Kate Bosworth was miscast being too young to play Lois (she was 23, while Margot Kidder was older than Reeves during the earlier movies), but as far as acting goes she, much like Routh, captured old Lois very well. Luthor seducing a rich old lady to get him out of jail and inherit her money sounds like something he'd do in the past movies. It's absurd comedy! A staple of the old films. And most people complain that the ending was quick and convenient when that was the case with the earlier films as well (time reversal, anyone?). Overall, I love this movie and it gets more shit than it deserves.

He did a great job. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
I don't care what anyons says.. Kevin Spacey nailed it as Lex Luthor! A very close second to the great Gene Hackman! 😍
3:30 when Will Smith said hoping the academy invites me back
Yes they can occupy the same space at the time. You just have to blink realy fast
Lois was wrong as hell for pinning that boy on that pilot knowing damn well Superman was his father
She didn’t really have a choice here. Lex hates Superman more than anything. If he knew Superman was the real father, he’d definitely use Jason as a pawn against Superman, or even try to kill Jason to ensure another Superman won’t come back if he kills the existing one.
i loved this movie
Imagine having thie scene on film only be forgotten a couple years after release... Weird world we live in.
1:47 if you pause and look real closely, you can see Metropolis is located in New York State, right beside New Jersey but Long Island in this movie doesn't seem to exist or if it's underwater.
People give this movie allot of shit, but it’s honestly a wonderful homage to the Christopher reed era, and the line where he says “are you sure?” Is just wonderful and terrifying.
Because we all know if he found out it was Superman’s kid, he would kill him immediately.
Hmmmm, ''Waldmeister''. That's the favourite flavour of Lex's Winegum's. A present for his best Friend Superman, as he was last time in good old Germany.😄
I guess it doesn’t effect half Kryptonians.
I think next to Rosenbaum this is the best Lex I have seen. I would have preferred for him to be more then just a real estate robber baron and more of the global, big picture bad guy we know him to be. Glover's Lionel Luthor would also have been a good villain for the movies as well
The best version of Lex ever.
I love it
If Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor and Henry Cavill's Superman were in the same Superman movie, it might be one of the greatest comic book movies ever.
Love this portrayal of Lex. If I had to rank all the Lex Luthors I've seen or heard, my top five would be:
5. Jesse Eisenberg
4. Kevin Spacey
3. Michael Rosenbaum
2. Gene Hackman
1. Clancy Brown
I love all five of those, and what I love about Jesse is that he almost seems to be a combination of Clancy and Gene. Can't wait to see more from him in the Snyder Cut and maybe even beyond!
Jesse still sucks lol
I find him to be a great mix of Gene and Clancy. Love his performance immensely, and I would love to see him return.
4 of your 5 choices are immaculate. Eisenberg was trash. His whole neurotic, beta energy just does not fit with Lex
And that’s your opinion. But I love his Lex, and I would love to see more of his portrayal.
This is why i love his lex!!
Hilarious subtitles.
