- From the 1993 pilot of "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman", Superman's first in-costume save
It also contains a line referenced by the 2021 pilot of "Superman and Lois" that his costume was made by his mom which was also contained in 1998s "Superman For All Seasons" comic Кино
"Thank you, my mother made it for me." Melts my heart every time.
Now we know where that line came from in the new Superman & Lois show

This show did a perfect job portraying how superman is supposed to act.
For the limited budgets and special effects, this was an amazing show.
@@thefurrybastard1964 This is one of the best DC shows ever made.
@@alphanerd7221 Agreed!
And Why Superman is Superman. It's not just what he can do, but why he does it.
@@doctorfate6414 Exactly, he'd be Superman even without his powers.
The costume in the Pilot was just perfection.
Wish he kept it through out the series
You are 100 % right!
Just like Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors, Clark Kent's Costume of Red, Blue, Yellow colors, his mama made just for him! :)
💯💯 I always liked the small ‘S’ better and hated the one with the cape went over the shoulders
Yes. Don’t know why they changed it so much.
"Is that a bird?"
"Is that a plane?"
"Nope, just some guy with a pair of tights and a cape!"
How has this not been memed
People hate to hear the truth.
This is PURE GOLD 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the crowds reaction.
was at the cape a few days ago when they was lunching a rocket with supplies a woman said is that a plane ? I looked at it said no just a guy with a pair of tights and red cape everyone busted out laughing
I just like the fact he says to little girl that he's a friend , giving a sense of safety
Plus he's not actually called "Superman" yet. It's a nice touch.
@@MacJaxonManOfAction when dies he get the name
It's a homage to the 1978 Superman. Chris Reeve says the same thing to Margot Kidder after he first rescues her too.
Even though it was pretty much it’s own thing, this was and is my favorite Superman show
How do? You don’t like Christopher Reeve?
@@privateconfidential4775 tv show not movie! Christopher Reeve IS Superman, the rest are just acting as Superman
Oh hheellll nooo. I know you did not just type that shit in.
Anyone else get a kick out of people throwing garbage at him for ruining the trademark phrase? Laughed as a kid, laughing as an adult, great writing. 😋
Superman isn't quite superman yet.
Superman's first appearance to the world, aiding and advancing humankind to the stars along with the music in this video, made me kinda tear up.
Someone's definitely cutting onions in here 🥲
Dean Cain's face and his hair almost match the animated one.
You've got that backwards. People today don't realize how much the character of Superman was rewritten because of the success of this show.
@@alphanerd7221Yeah, well, it’s still true‼️
This show had such a strong 1992/1993 vibe to it, but in a good way. You can tell it's 90s, but with a hint of late 80s still in the air, with that bulky wooden TV that the Kent's still watch. Very nostalgic. The first two seasons of this show were pretty good before it became a mess in season 3 and 4.
This Show was never any good but Hatcher and Cain carried it through the first couple of Seasons, before it just became too tideous to watch.
AMY......."Hi. I like your costume."
SUPERMAN....."Thank you. My Mother made it for me. "
One of the best line's ever. It ALWAYS makes me smile.
Imagine those actors, that plot and today's technology and resources. Too bad we're not having this kind of writing anymore.
You should watch the new Superman show. It's amazing.
Everyone seems very calm about this.
The music in v the show brings me back to being 10 years old. It's actually very good and holds up 26 years later
Looks cool with medium slick back hair.
I love the fact that they use the comic \S/ in the pilot and then created their own \S/ during the rest of the show....
Dean Cain is something that definitely came to my mind when talking about Superman, probably because this is the 1st Superman series that I watched.
To me it's always Reeves, but Cavill was the Superman we deserved. One thing Dean Cain had over everyone was the empathy of Superman. He's the heart.
I always felt that Cain was the best, Reeves was good but he was in movies that had much more planning and resources, etc. Cain delivered every episode a great Clark and really good Superman. Until they got into the mess of romance which bungled everything. I would choose Cain over any other actor and even with Reeves.
I didn't do anything to deserve Cavill....actually it is not his fault he was a bad Superman....it was the writer"s and director's fault
The acting and lines in this were gold
Dean Cain was such a great Superman
Ah now I see where the my mom made it for me line came from in Superman and Lois
That happened in the comics too.
Just found it too.
@J.V - No. Both Lois & Clark and Superman & Lois took that line from the comic Superman: For All Seasons.
@@gabrielp9646 Thanks for the info.
Superman and Lois is basically a half assed sequel to this show.
"Is it a bird?"
"Is that A Plane?"
Of course the usual.
One of the best quotes in the show later on and it still resonates with me. Superman is what I can do, Clark Kent is who I am.
This was the beginning of the adventures superman of the 90s
i still tear up at this scene.
They should have left the costume like this and just added belt loops.
One interesting aspect of this scene is the manifestation of Superman's ability to defy gravity. He not only flies himself but he negates gravity of the shuttle.
That's what I love about Man Of Steel. His ability to fly is tied to his will, and MOS got that right. He tries to fly and fails at first, gravity pulls him back. But then he wills himself past his own limit. I always love that his powers are tied into his will. Students have literally done papers on that. I've read a couple. Not just about Superman but about the powers of mythological characters or superheroes, which are pretty much the same thing. And that's another thing Zach Snyder got right in his Justice League. The "old gods", heroes of Greek/Roman mythology and the "new gods" - "superheroes".
@@marcoslaureano5562Isn’t Green Lantern’s powers based on Will?
I belive in the comics (by extension this show) The idea is that when Superman touches an object or a person, his superpowers extend to that object or person, allowing him to manipulate or control it. This could include defying gravity, lifting heavy objects, or even enabling flight for other entities.
that's why his costume doesn't get easily damaged by bullet holes. his body creates a field all over his costume.
@@zahidrehman528 That has been explained in some continuities as Clark being able to tap into the speedforce. In DC (again some continuities) only the speedforce allows for FTL movement and the speedforce is what allows speedsters to extend its protection to things and people they touch.
Still remember this pilot episode like yesterday, man I feel so old now 😢😢😢
His first save just happens to be his biggest save lol
Man, this was such a good show!
Absolutely. Still my favourite live action Superman show
I still wonder how did Lois get back to Earth since they never showed her leaving the Shuttle before Superman lifted it to the Space Station
A spare space suit on the station?
She got a Lyft😂😂
Teri Hatcher was and still is the best Lois Lane ever
@Kryptoskillet Bitsie ain't got nothing on Teri
She was good, but it's still Margot Kidder for me. She nailed that exquisite combination of tough-cookie reporter and soppy fangirl while still seeming like the same person. Lois Lane is kind of a difficult role to get right, when you think about it; she has to kind of adjust her character depending on whether she's interacting with Clark or Superman. A bit like the difficulty in playing Clark/Superman himself, I suppose!
@Kryptoskillet That Lois is crap.
@Kryptoskillet Both shows are corny, Lois and Clark is just self aware and clever about it while the new one is melodramatic. It's like watching Riverdale.
I liked Erica Durance from Smallville
This version, Christopher Reeve, the one in Superman and Lois and how finally Superman was at the end of Justice League are the best portrayals of Superman.
The guy they used for Superman and Lois is too ugli to be Superman tho. That actor ruined it for me. Superman was supposed to be a good looking handsome all American looking man. Not an ugli wog lookin dude. Lol. I ain't got nothin wrong with him or wogs, or ugli people for that matter. It's jus that he doesn't suit that role for me is all, and he's got massive ears too. Lol.
I liked Smallville's Clark Kent and Brandon Routh's Superman.
This was a nice fun show that didn't take itself too serious. Unfortunately, that is what did it in at the end I think.

I always love the part starting at [1:54] up until "Easy. I'll give them a boost.". Then cut to the view of the vehicle on the launchpad, slowly rising. He's literally lifting it off the pad... Now that's what I call a Liftoff! 😁
My mom made it for me.love that
Last time i checked the rocket boosters dont go all the way to "space"
Dean Cain was a great Superman and Teri was gorgeous
Oh god no he was awful..

He's very handsome 😍
When he said she can walk when the lab is operational.... Thought of Christopher Reeve 😢😢😢😢😢
This superman had a black regeneration suit at the end of its season. They make a big deal about it in the new movie and new TV show.. but it was here first.
Actually, no. It was in the comics first.
What a memories, Pilot was the best 2 episodes of the entire series.
My favourite Superman.
This first save embodied the idea of Superman: Hope.
The best thing that surprised me when I watched and loved this show was that the actor portraying Superman is half Japanese. Dean Cain is a conservative and a mixed race American treasure. Although I always wondered why they went with a cheaper looking suit after the first episode.
This was a job for Matter Eater Lad!
One if the best series to ever happen.
This is the new Superman TV show.
I just watched this pilot on Max. And I gotta say, I am definitely gonna watch the rest of the series.
Superman: The New Adventures of Lois and Clark, was a great show for its time. Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher had amazing chemistry. Lane Smith (RIP) made a great Perry White. Definitely enjoy.

His cape flapping in space even though there is no oxygen 😂
Those tingles you feel on your arms, the corners of your mouth pulling up into a smile...That's Superman done right. Otherwise he's just an alien with super powers. (Looking at you, Henry).
I still love Supes!
Is it a bird, a plaine, no it just a man in a cape lol. Everyone thought he was lying that is why they threw their empty cans at him.
This is what on about tonight.

Swallowing a bomb is a pretty big flex you know

This was a great Superman /Lois take
The cast was a great fit with each other
Just would like them to stop making his cape flap around in space
Solar winds! ;-)
@@DJDoena 𝕀 𝕂ℕ𝔼𝕎 𝕀𝕋!!!😃
Things flap in space. Though the air isn't there to blow them, it's not there to stop them either and neither is gravity, so capes, flags, ect in space will just keep waving until something holds them still or the kinetic energy winds down due to the fabric. Superman's cape is alien fabric so who knows if it would ever stop.
Without Doubt Dean George Tanaka/Dean Cain was a Great Superman my friends. That God Bless him. We enjoy this Show in our Childhood. Thanks.
literally one of my first major crushes
My childhood
This show was the equivalent of the 1960s Adam West Batman tv series. This show was perfect for an era it was not made in.
Show was far from perfect. I think people are just letting nostalgia cloud their vision. Don't get me wrong, I love this show. Though the amount of times Clark Kent has shown his powers to average people yet no one realizing he's superman, is beyond nonsensical. Not to mention that Lois even says "I never noticed how much you looked like Superman" in one episode, then just disregards it completely in future episodes. The show had plot holes. It's a great watch if you turn off your brain, though it's far from great writing.
This is brand new tonight. Did anyone can write the comment about this new show what on tonight on ABC.
Love this show back in the 90s
I finally understand why he said said excuse me. lol
Fun Fact: In the comics, Superman made his first public appearance when he saved a space plane in front of crowds of people.
everyone says that Superman has mommy issues should read more about his lore
Superman always deeply cared about ma Kent
The superman looks like the cartoons
Coolest Superman....
I wish they kept this costume design for the show.
Loved it when Cain gave the typical answer of 'Friend' 😢🙂 ♥️... I am sorry but Snyder's Superman just 'does not' justify the essence of Superman... Cos Superman was never ever cocky or an arrogant macho man...
I couldn't agree with you more
@Nate R Snyder's Superman was NEVER a real Superman...he was arrogant broody distrustful and an emotionless Overpowered battering ram... 'You get the fuck off your high horse' !
@@RuanAntunes7 Thank you for understanding... I am always glad to meet true Superman fans who understand the true essence of the character... Chris Reeves Tom Welling Brandon Routh Dean Cain and now the latest Tyler Hoechlin are all faithful to that essence apart from Snyder's disastrous version played by Cavill who is not surprisingly being replaced
@Nate R Snyder's Superman is absolutely nothing like Christopher Reeve or Dean Cain. Brandon Routh & now most recently Tyler Hoechlin are far better in that role.
@Nate R I've got nothin against Henry Calvin as Superman. His Superman did pretty well for someone who had selfish parents who questioned if he should have saved the young lives of a bus load of children. ruclips.net/video/tEfoNXQDWBs/видео.html&ab_channel=FlashbackFM
As An adult now, one has to wonder why the entire space craft didn’t buckle under the stress by being lifted at 1 point. Guess Physics don’t apply to Superman. From the launch pad to space
Hey if physics applied to Superman then in Superman 1 when he caught Lois falling from the helipad when they first met he would have snapped her spine
@@plonkersbro this is true. When he caught her it was a very hard catch.
