      In the Superman rational-fic "Metropolitan Man", Supes actually explains kryptonite in a very similar way. He uses "Krypto-Particles" to see through walls and stuff (his x-ray vision is explicitly NOT x-rays), and the special green rocks that powered his ship put out _multiple orders of magnitude_ more of those particles, to the point of being outright blinding, and depowering in close proximity. Lead is the only known element that blocks said particles, both making it a blocker for his x-ray vision, and used as shielding to keep the occupant (baby Supes) safe from the kryptonite engine core in flight.

      See, I love the idea of the omnitix having an ia that can think, cuz it solves one of the biggest problems, Ben getting the wrong alien, the omnitix can literally choose to give him a different alien to have Ben grow, get changed, and get new experiences, like, it's p obvious Ben loves using humangosaur, I think the omnitix is getting sick of it (metaphorically) and is trying to get Ben to try out new things, it will usually comply and give Ben what he wants, but if Ben gets to repetitive or presictable, the omnitix will force him to try something new, and depanding on the situation as well, to have him see that maybe a certain alien can be useful in some situations, like, the situations where Ben got the wrong alien and it didn't work out are wery rare and mostly cuz Ben didn't want to adapt to the alien given

    If you remember. When Phill comes back later on as an energy monster, Phill actually messed with the Omnitrix to only get energy themed aliens. So it's possible the Nematrix is similar in that vein. Maybe it only gives Ben aliens that it has predators for, and/or aliens that can have the same predator. Hence why Ball Weevil, an alien Ben didn't use until now, had a predator for it. Maybe the Nematrix even unlocked Ball Weevil indirectly.

    • @silverbreaker9271
      @silverbreaker9271 11 месяцев назад +3

      Uhm I kind of like that explanation, I can belive maybe some relation in the DNA of pray and predator would allow that, for having a similar anatomy, being of the same planet or something like that. Although the "aliens that also can have the same predator" feels like too much of a strech for me.
      Although if this was the case, wouldn't it have been better for the nemetrix to have like just 1 transformation to lock Ben into just one alien or aliens weaker than that predator? Because then the more aliens the nemetrix had then more aliens Ben has available, and some of them would be counter for some of the other predators.
      And then why Khyber would study Ben at all? If he would just lock his transformations into preys for his pet then it kind of won't matter.

    • @silverbreaker9271
      @silverbreaker9271 11 месяцев назад +3

      But if the nemetrix had that kind of ability wouldn't it have been a smarter to put just 1 predator in the nemetrix and so lock Ben into it's specific prey. Because then the more aliens the nemetrix had the more aliens Ben would have access and be able to counter some predators with his other aliens. Also then why study Ben for 5 years if they would just lock his powers into the preys of the predators they choose to put in the nemetrix.

    • @christophercrafte
      @christophercrafte 11 месяцев назад +8

      @@silverbreaker9271 the answer to that is simple. The effect the nemitrix has is only a mild sway over his aliens. So it loosely effects it. That is 1 part the other is ben has ways to still chose which alien in different ways.
      Lifeform lock could make him a powerful alien with no predators for as long as he likes. This means having a diverse range of abilities for the nemitrix is important.

Honestly I wish they leaned more into it ESPECIALLY because it could’ve worked with Humungosaur growing! Like think about it. On Terradino the Vaxasaurians grow in an attempt to make up for the size difference between them and the Tyrannopedes, so they in return use their silk to quickly wrap them up, using their own new massive weight against them to bring them to the ground where they can be torn apart and consumed.

    For in universe reason to y Ben repeatedly transforms into the prey for the nemetrix’s predators is similar to how he got almost exclusively lightning/electric aliens when against terroranchula Phil the nemetrix’s close proximity to the omnitrix is causing the watch to repeatedly glitch to transform Ben into the prey for the predators

  • @luke769animations
    @luke769animations 11 месяцев назад +23

    I have a theory that has to do with a later episode with Phil becoming Terroranchula. Ben kept turning into electrical aliens because of an energy output that Phil was putting out, what if Ben kept turning into these six aliens because of a similar energy output?
    Edit: and to add onto this, Phil’s Terroranchula form probably had a stronger energy field because he was unstable
    And we’ve seen what happens when omnimatrix devices become unstable, the energy physically changes living things around it! Like when Ben broke off the face plate (the energy fused worms and crabs with Stinkfly DNA), when Kevin and Ben tried to hack the watch (Kevin mutated into his “mineral man” body), and when Psychobos took a stabilizer out of the new watch (The surge fused random prisoners with Omnitrix DNA).
    The Nemetrix has shown that it is inferior to the Omnitrix by itself, so it would make sense that it would show similarities to a malfunctioning omnimatrix core!
    But take this with a grain of salt, it would be cool if the writers thought of this

    I think a much more interesting way to handle the predators would be the idea of sort of “half counters.” So after establishing which predator pairs with which alien you start putting them against aliens with similar powers. For example Swampfire against Crabdozer, countering the fire still but not having a counter to Swampfire’s plant manipulation.
    The Omnitrix has a lot of alien’s with overlapping move sets, and this would have been a great way to show off the strengths and weaknesses of different aliens.

    Ben timing out but still transforming into another alien honestly gives me an idea as to how the timeout function works , according to Omniverse.
    Its possible that the timeout function is there to simply prevent the user from staying as a single alien for too long out of fear of it scrambling their DNA and in the event that they're incapacitated or unable to touch the Omnitrix, it returns the user back to their default state unless Master Control is activated or they press the dial again to turn into something else, restarting the timer.

    The topic you discuss about the comedy coming at the expense of the conflict reminds me a lot of how the Buu Saga in Dragonball Z is percieved controversially amongst fans of that series. The original Dragonball Anime centered around comedy often, but the sequel to it, DBZ, started to play the stakes straight. They tried to bring the goofier antics back with the Buu Saga, but some of the humor unintentionally undermined some important character bits in the past, as well as interrupting potential arcs for current characters.

    Isn't the Terroranchula, Ball Weevil's Predator, what Phil became a hybrid of sorts of? And didn't he also have energy absorption? Energy is the most common type of attack Omnitrix aliens have, so it could be reasoned Khyber went after a Terroranchula not because of Ball Weevil, but as a general counter to many of Ben's forms.

      I think he also says the Omnitrix is responsive to Nemetrix energy, so that could be why Ben is trapped with only prey aliens during these fights

      The same thing could be said about Mucilator and Slamworm with Ben unlocking their preys after Khyber got them in the flashback. With Arburia and Petropia being destroyed at the time Khyber was hunting, he probably had to look for alternatives for Cannonbolt and Diamondhead and hoped Mucilator and Slamworm would do well respectively.

Sure each one had problems but that never made them lesser then one another or any other show. What defined them was the enjoyment they brought and each one brought a whole heap of fun from character designs, likeable characters, and interesting concepts. So is Omniverse an unparalleled masterpiece? Not by any means but that's okay, we all still had fun and that's what honestly matters. Same with UAF and Classic, heck, I hear plenty of love for the Reboot as well, so cheers!

    The problem is that the "Wild-mutts" in the null are mutants. Variant DNA. The one in the omitrix is from the last surviving member of the true breed, and being so, was also the peak of the species.

  • @anthonynguyen1289

    The thing you said about OV fans reminds me of Pokemon. First I need to clarify I am biased towards Gen 5. Gen 5 at it’s release was heavily criticized and a lot of it was unfair, but nowadays apparently everyone has always loved Gen 5 and never ever criticized it. I
    do think people get defensive in these situations because the older gens typically don’t get criticized and there are a lot of fans who think they are perfect when they criticize future generations. There are some very die hard Gen 1 fans who will say everything after is bad. Ben 10 probably has people like this as well. The fans of the later series just think everyone criticizing the later entries are just nostalgia boomers who only like the original.
    Obviously that’s not true, but maybe that’s what a lot of the negativity these fans see came from resulting into them viewing all the criticism as invalid. I think these fans are thinking “well my series does 9/10 things better than the series you call your favorite, so why are you so harsh on my series”.
    Realistically everyone has some biases when criticizing shows they grew up with or spent more time with. They’ll struggle to see the flaws in their favorite, but can point out the flaws in others. That is just a thing people need to accept in other people’s reviews and critiques as well as their own.
    There is always some amount of bias since no one can erase fully how a series initially made them feel or the joy they had over the years because of it. That element will always prevent any one series becoming the best or most definitive must play for everyone since everyone processes things differently and might attach themselves to one game that could be worse in several aspects to the most well received game in the series.
    I probably lost the point I was initially trying to make when I started, but I think this is still fine.
