    THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. On the flip side, the episode can be absolute garbage, but still an enjoyable watch. How likely would you be to put this episode on if you were in the mood to watch Ben 10?

I'm pretty sure that NRG, Water Hazard, Terraspin, and Armodrillo were specifically used together in this episode to hype up Shocksquatch. Any former Ben 10 fan watching Omniverse for the first time will have noticed that all of these aliens are the Andromeda aliens from Ultimate Alien, and logically expect AmpFibian to appear as the last and final of the quintet. When I saw lightning come from the cloud of smoke after Ben transformed, I was sure this was the case- but no! It was a different electric alien, and (kind of) a new one. A fun case of misdirection to introduce Shocksquatch's new design and catch the older Ben 10 fans off-guard, even if just a little.
(Maybe Ben electrocuting himself also encouraged the Omnitrix to give him Shocksquatch in the first place? We saw something similar happen in Max's Monster, where something even less direct- an electrical field- was causing the Omnitrix's surface playlist to be flooded with electric-type aliens).
I feel like this kind of misdirection also notably happened way back in "The Gauntlet" in AF, as well. The trio are fighting a Techadon robot, which is specifically mechanical, and Ben says aloud, "you know who'd be perfect for this?" The transformation sequence then shows his skeleton, a strictly black and green color scheme, melting down into liquid. A liquidy black and green alien who Ben thinks would be perfect to fight a robot? I think the writers were totally teasing us about Upgrade to introduce Goop as an unexpected counterpart.
They did it again a handful of episodes earlier in "Everybody Talks About the Weather," when the audience knew even less about whether or not Ben had access to his old aliens, because we see Alan flying around in his Heatblast form and are pretty much lead to believe that it's Ben as Heatblast at first. It's only once Alan transforms back to human, it's clear that this was not the case.

Omniverse Gwendolyn/Ben 10,000 timeline Gwen? Works marvelously. The mana-lined versions of the Charms of Bezel complement the rest of her outfit perfectly and make me wish we had gotten a UAF Gwendolyn in _Ben 10,000 Returns,_ even if it was just an astral projection talking to Paradox and Ultimate Ben after the first fight with Eon (the one that takes place in the future).
Omniverse Paradox? Looks more like a steampunk scientist got his wires crossed with Rassilon than a Cold War scientist whose time travel comes from a map in his mind. I honestly wanted that minimalist design that comes with UAF Paradox to be what UAF Cooper was all along, except more engineer/mechanic oriented. Don't do toxic nerd stereotypes and certainly don't not have him grow.

Not just that, but also that Vector Prime himself know about Ben & his universe.
“Vector Prime had developed a fondness for Ben and was impressed by his adventures. He also speculated that his home reality, located somewhere beyond the multiverse, may have interacted with a Malgus Cluster universe (Transformers Animated universe) at some point, allowing his foe Khyber to collect Cybertronian artifacts.”

Sometimes he would mistransform and say the name of the alien he intended to select, other times he would say the name of the alien he got. But the fact they added a lot of characters in the background with different designs, have them either move out of the way or head turn during the stopping the vehicle scene. I know you try to cut down on comments about the animation and art, but honestly those are some of my favorite aspects of these Breakdowns. Seeing someone who knows so much about art talking about how the show does it is so fascinating to watch. You could make a three hour long video just about dissecting the art of the shows and I would happily watch it.

I feel like a lot of people's reactions regarding Rook back then went a little something like
"Ugh, why did they send Gwen and Kevin away and send in a new guy who's probably only here to bolster Ben's already inflated ego?"
*Rook proceeds to act like the more competent hero while Ben's three years and three months of experience seem to vanish before our very eyes*
    "Nevermind, I love him now."
I honestly don't think too many people hated Rook after this episode. I'd be surprised if a lot of people did.

I think Ben has the same problem you pointed out with the Omnitrix, Kuro, at least at first, with it being harder to tell what alien you're picking. Ben explained that he's still getting used to this Omnitrix version and plus in the last episode he chose spider monkey when he wanted humangasour.🤔

Also I can definitely see Reboot Ben, reboot Gwen, and Glitch drinking protozoa smoothies.

I mean I would say anything from Genndy Tartakovsky and his team blows this out of the water artistically and when it comes to visual complexity or visual worldbuilding, but all Ben 10 series (minus the reboot) are still up there visually as far as CN shows go. The Amazing World of Gumball's zany mish mash of artstyles also comes to mind, at least for the variety.
I was also going to mention Tron: Uprising but that wasn't originally a CN show. And even though it's not a CN show either, I'll bring up Love, Death & Robots as an honorable mention, and more people need to check it out.

Omnivores Water Hazard is my favorite design for him as well.
The whole jagged ones going across his hood thing, the barnacles on his shoulders and the buddy like fingers are really visually satisfying to look at. And the voice filter he has is also pretty kewl.
And not to mention that Water Hazard is one of my favorite aliens in Ben 10.

  • @axs64

I think that for 20:10, it should count as a mistransformation because if you slow it down, it hovers over humongousaur’s icon and then scrolls to spider monkey. As Ben said, he’s still getting used to the new omnitrix and didn’t realise that the touchscreen was so sensitive.

When I was a kid watching Omniverse I thought that the reason Ben miss transforms is that he thinks too much before transforming. Cause he does get the exact Alien he wants it's just he doesn't go "ok Omnitrix daddy needs a new pair of Humonasuars". Like during the Upchuck planet episode he turns into Upchuck multiple times on the first try.

I just need another series like "Ben 10 : The Roadtrip" and they got a lot of things to tell too. I wish they had another series for Classic continuity.
