- In this episode I will be using our Clark Michigan loader and our Albion Clydesdale truck to cart up some road base material to build a hard stand to park our other trucks on. We first change a leaking air brake booster on the truck and bleed the diesel system and get it going. We then check over the loader and get it going also. Then we take both down to where we will be loading and start carting material. It doesn't take long for mor dramas to follow. Come along and see how we go with it all. #diesel #abandoned #heavyequipment #clarkequipment #earthmover #british #albion #Leyland #earthworks #loader #bulldozer #isuzu #tractor #willitrun #willitwork #working #heavyequipmentopentoperator #caterpillar #heavyequipmentmechanic #earthmoving

Hi Steve, I have a multi fit can holder for all my old machinery, its a magnetic base from a rotating beacon with a spaghetti can screwed to it, works a treat and sticks to anything steel
Hi mate. This is a magnificent idea. Thank you and keep an eye out in future videos for something very similar
I have a couple of magnetic beacons on my ute. They have a sticker on them, saying the magnet is rated for 110km/h travel. They hold on ok. One beacon has a rubber base as well, it hangs on like a frightened passenger to a door handle.
@railtrolley again mate it’s a great idea. I’ve been looking around for an old beacon at work to get the magnet off. You will definitely see it in future episodes
I’m sure I’ll get around and have them. I’ll be by the end of the day, that’s what I love about you always having a cold one!!!
Fantastic mate. Yes I am but only really on the weekends. I get home to late to worry about it though the week
Hi Steve. So great to see you using this old equipment. Love your fixes on the run. You need a draw bar on the front of the fixit ute so you can tow it down behind the machines to save your long walks. Have a good week. Marc
Hi Marc thank you. Yes it’s getting like that mate. They all sit around and try to get a day’s work out of it and it all stops. All the best mate
Steve, good to see the old Austin in the line up and the bedford J type looking good.
Hi John. Hopefully I will give them a start up soon enough. I haven’t seen either of them running yet
Those type of front brake adjusters on the Albion were the dog bo--ocks so easy to adjust.
I think so too but I think the rod from the booster I fitted is to short
Man Steve if your where here in southern MS.USA...there is stuff as fare as the day is long ....up an down the roads that the younger crowd just don't care about....I guess it's cause there no where to put there cell phone's...but the amount of old equipment just rusting away is enough to make a man sad... great video 👍👍👍 an its cool that you give a s..t about this old stuff.... big thanks to you an your miss ... from across the pound in southern MS.usa
Thanks again Josh. I’d love to come over and check it all out mate. The problem is that I would want to bring it all home😅😅. There’s a decent following over here from the younger blokes, mainly the Maltese blokes, they save and appreciate a lot of it. They put on some great shows here. It is very sad to see it rusting away. I try my best to save it but unless it’s donated or cheap, it’s getting too hard. Appreciate your kind words mate thank you from Sydney Australia
Steve, I have never seen a twin stick like that before beautiful equipment classic🤘🏼‼️
Hi Nick. Yes mate it’s a 12 speed. 6 speed main and can split every gear
Funny old truck especially with that gear stick
She’s good to drive mate with that splitter
Careful Steve. He'll hath no fury like a diesel scorned!😂
😂😂 thank you mate
Thanks Steve you bought back memories of my dad ‘s Albion when I was a kid. 👍👍
Hi Marc. I’m glad it brings back good memory. That’s what I try to do among other things mate
@@stevesplacedownunder no worries I love watching what you’re up to and keep them coming. The old trucks and machinery are great to see.👍👍
@MarcSmarrelli-ud8ek that’s really appreciated mate thank you. There’s plenty more to come so don’t worry about that.
Steve, great seeing old machines working again, Ive often wondered how modern drivers would cope any vehicle with out Power steering, The wife bought a used Nissan Navara D40 4x4 and in the firist week it spat a Power steering belt, the idler pulley bearings were shot, she had trouble with it as most would.
Hi Fred. Yes mate you are right. It’s what people get used to I guess. People these days don’t know any different unless they are like me and play with this old stuff

G'day Steve,
Another cool vid,
Love the equipment,
Can't beat the Aussie sense of humour .
Keep em comming.
Respect....!
Hi mate thank you. Plenty to come
Great to see the clydesdale at work. Earlier ones had Albion's own (good) engines. Eventually production got moved to England. "Bathgate no more" in the Proclaimers song "Letter from America" is a reference to that. I see the Terrier Bowser and the other Brit cabover have sneaked out of the ghetto.
Hi Neil yes it was good mate. I was happy overall with it. You seem to know a lot about them which is great. The old Austin is down the end there mate yes
Great post again mate, loving the old Albion getting some action.
Hi Jon thank you mate. She did well
Man, my dad had an Albion Clydesdale tipper and a Albion Cheiftan. !! They were good old plodders. But noisy and bloody hot in summer!!
Hi mate that’s great. Yes I’d imagine they were really hot. Very reliable though
"Suck the chrome off a tow ball" I'll have to find a time to use that today
Be careful where you use that Paul😂😂
The one liners that steve pulls and his chuckle after are mint 😂
Hi Steve. First time viewer, interesting channel and will delve deeper. Just a quick comment re content which is completely your call. Less interesting: talktalk, repeated loading sequences loader=>dumptruck 15x, driving working vehicles up/down roads and clearing land. More interesting: mechanical challenges, won't fire/won't start, winch frozen, body or drivetrain repairs, fixing long-deferred maintenance. Really enjoy the vids where I learn something from your extensive experience. Thanks for the effort!!
Hi mate sorry for late reply. Thanks for having a look at my channel. Yes I understand what you’re saying. I do agree with you. I just video what I’m doing at the time really but yes the problem solving ones are better. Thanks again mate. The feedback is very much welcomed
Hi Steve great to see the old Albion and loader earning their keep. Good luck with the repair on the steering. All the best, Mart in England.
Hi Mary hope you are well mate. Yes it is good to see them working. A few small issues but nothing to serious
I drove one of those end loaders years ago, it was near new and worked ok
Hi Bryce. That’s good mate. I’d imagine it was a good thing when it was new
Great stuff 👍🙏
Thank you 🙏
Top job mate, hopefully you can wind the pressure up a bit in the hydraulics, make it a better tipper again
Hi Matty. Yes I’m not sure what was going on with it. I ended up just parking it after the job. I need to take her back up to the shed
Awesome adventure brother awesome as always love doing that kind of work !!! Yall have an awesome day and say hello to everyone for me
All the best Brother from another country
Another great one man, fun to see the old gal being used as it should, and lucky only some quick fixes needed to keep going .
Thank you mate. Yes it is good and certainly enjoyed doing it too. They weren’t major fixes no so that was good
The old gear did good mate 👍vid
Thank you Nick
Awesome great work mate keep it up mate
Thanks Baldy. Hope all is well mate
Hell yeah!
Another great vid!
Thank you mate
Thanks Steve you have given me hope. At times I feel like the only idiot running old gear well past its use by date that I am having to fix daily / weekly/monthly to keep running. Very frustrating in the middle of a job but very rewarding when it’s done.
I'm going to guess the pressure relief valve is in the hydraulic pump, a lot of the older stuff is built that way, probably still a blockage in the vent tube as well if you're still having issues raising the bin.
It may well be mate but not a real big pun and I can’t see where it would be. I may have to pull it off and look closer. I do have another one that I can look at also
Brilliant cobber 🍻
Thanks Kory. Sorry for late reply, it takes me about 3 nights to reply to everyone
@@stevesplacedownunder it’s all good mate. Totally understand, I don’t expect a reply 🍻🍻
Awesome I was on the edge my seat wondering if the Albion was going to have a blow out tipping that first load would’ve been good for click bait and bad for the poor old rig but she lives I guess a blockage to the hoist pump surely ? these videos spark so many memories of things I’ve done and things I’ve seen people do with machinery keep going it will only grow 👍
Thanks for the nice comment mate. Yes I was waiting for a pop and have it crash back down. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. It keeps me going
Howya Steve, just commenting to push these vids up and also say that as a young lad from ireland i love your vids, do keep them up and ignore the snobs in your comments whatever you do.
cheers
Hi mate thank you. Yes I will, I’ve learned to do that. I’m trying to grow it but it’s a long hard battle. Going alright though
@@stevesplacedownunder great to hear mate, you'll win that battle eventually. Best of luck!
Very nice bud try fix car s got impact driver and grinder mine broke battery one got new chainsaw chains wait on it new spring for pull starter and put one on vb2
can you explain the gearshift on the old dump please ? ive never seen anything like it before Steve. Hears an idear for you . when undoing the hydraulic line to prevent oil from coming out of the bottom valve connect an old vacuum-cleaner to the inlet and seal it then turn it on and it should prevent a lot of oil from coming out ok.
Hi mate. It’s a 6 speed crash box main trans with an inbuilt manual splitter. The lever for the splitter is mounted to the back of the cab and is used to split every gear. Yes at work we use a vacuum device that the air plugs into to vac down the tanks to prevent oil leaking out
Shouldnt talk about your truck like that. Remember the movie Christine. Vehicles have feelings..lol. Great videos
Hi mate thank you. Yes I remember Christine 😅😅😅
Steve, hey your dad on the digger looks like a kids playing with his dinner as he doesn't like what he's got.🤭🤭
😅😅 he really enjoys himself on it mate
The grinder was Titan £18.50 chain oil too need new 18v Makita battery use mine lot other tool like separating saw stuff my battery chainsaw happy Easter
Hi Alex very good mate all the best with it
Thanks bud you too love your vids getting on well
😊 sweet video mate and good spotting on the tipper i thought was relief valve as had that before, hornet's eh, nice bit of land you've got how many aces is it
Hi John thank you mate. It’s 22 acres. More than enough to store my stuff and be able to play with it all.
Steve...now you need to look for a comfortable passenger seat for that Albion truck if you want your wife to have a ride with you on that classic Brits truck...keep up the good work and good luck.
Hi mate thank you. I’d like to come across a seat base for it. It would complete the cab. She sometimes comes for a ride in them with me. All the best mate and plenty more to come
Is this Dad & Dave from Snake Gully. I got my truck licence in one of those old trucks in the mid 1960s they were a flash truck in there day.
Hi mate yes it is Dad and Dave. They would of been a great truck back then I’m sure
Just give us about 300 up the front mate and a lite tonne down the back please 😂
I don’t think she’d lift 300 up the front
Steve I noticed for few seconds while you were revving the Albion that the amp meter points to the left for charge rate . Is it reversed from most amp meters? And I did notice the manufacturer plate in the cab. First truck I ever saw made in Scotland. A ride along in the Albion and the Clark loader and a little hydraulic hose work . Was able to see the actual miles on the clock of the Albion sitting at 49692 . I like the details. Thanks mate ! Scott 🌵
Hi Scott. It’s not some I actually took notice of but it does charge and the gauge works but didn’t notice that. I more look at oil and temp in these old ones. They did well for a cheap loader and a free truck. Very happy with it all.
They both did a great job. Still doing what they were meant for. 😊🌵
🙂
Nice video Steve. Tough old loader those Michy's. In the past on the older loaders, I have even just thrown the original steering system away if it causes to many problems and mount a single acting control valve in the cab and steer it with a lever like an old Timberjack Skidder. Pretty cheap, simple and very reliable way to fix it if it turns out to be a major headache.
Hi mate thank you. Yes I understand what you are saying. That’s a great idea really. Would be good mounted on the left side of the seat. Would be like a later model machine then, apart from reaching out for the forward/reverse lever. Thanks for the advice mate. Very welcomed
Wonder if you can flip plates over in pump? Odd there not a relief somewhere. Unless it's built into pump.
Awesome job n cool equipment
I will have to pull it off and look further into it. There’s nothing I can see where it would go. There would have to be one somewhere for when the hoist dead ends
@@stevesplacedownunder built in bypass once rod extends so far on cylinder 🤔??
Is there a suction screen in tank that's partially plugged???
@jackpinesavagerepair1918 I’m going to look for a plugged screen because the oil is milky so it could well be
Good one Steve, but what was that in your hand in the intro mate? Keep up the good content.
I was wondering that but thought it must be some sort of paper beer cup either that or Steve's having a rum before work
Hi mate. It was a coffee cup. My wife has these flash cups for the coffee machine in the house
Does that Clark loader, have a heal and toe pedal for forward and reverse? Push forward with the ball of Ur foot for forward and back on the heal end for reverse?
Hi Colin. No mate only on the steering column
Calling Mr Acco
That Albion does not look like it is fun to drive with the dual stick shifters
It’s Great fun to drive mate. Easy to shift and good to play with
Birds have got alot of time on there hands to collect shit.
They certainly have
truck slowly moving at 47:00 to 48:30......brakes shot?
Oh no 🤷♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
The joys of working with old crap
You watched it
The albion is worth a few quid here.Get it on an auction.
I couldn’t sell it mate. It was a gift and I like it also
Does.theaustin.go.i.own.a.few.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Fantastic mate. I’ve never tried to get that one going yet
