Seeing that twin steer Kenworth brings back some nostalgia from my childhood. There was a bloke around the corner from our house that had one in Boral colour's of green chassis and a yellow cab. His name was Ray Zarb! I used to spend at least on day every month watching him work on it and occasionally help wash it. It was in pristine condition. I grew up in Seven Hills NSW.
Hi mate. I’m glad it brings back good memories for you. That name actually rings a bell. I guess listening to the older blokes talk about trucking these names appear. I wonder where it ended up
@@stevesplacedownunder I'd love to see it again. Just finished watching a Bruce in Aus video where you got a free plug. Two fantastic channels I recon!
Just discovered your channel. Terrific to see an Aussie with local knowledge, history and content. Much more meaningful than the predominantly US channels exploring similar content. Clearly you have the skills and experience to produce involving content. I am sure your ability to edit your footage and shoot more skillfully will grow rapidly. Many of your machines are full of character and so are some of the people featured. Yep, for these reasons your channel will be one to look forward to. More strength to you!
Hi Richard and thanks for watching. This is a very nice comment mate and the whole reason I do it is for people like you that appreciate it. I get a lot of criticism but there are a lot of nice people as well. I get criticised for talking too much but it’s how I want the channel to run and if I know the history of the vehicle or want to explain what I’m doing then I will talk about it. It amazes me how many people complain about free entertainment. Comments like yours make me want to grow. I will hopefully get better and better mate. There is plenty more to come . I have a lot of interesting things here. A few people have mentioned it’s good to see an Aussie channel. I’d like to think I can get it to where the American blokes are with subs and views. This channel cracks me up ( cold sandwiches ) I haven’t lived in Oz for 10+ years but I used to have a show on telly called Blokesworld. Your property is exactly the type of place I would visit. The other idiot too lazy to travel unfortunately. Anyway I got my license in an old acco non syncro 13 speed RR. If you have one, fire it up and show us how to smoothly slip into the impossible 9th gear 😀. Stay natural ( pay attention to your audio 🎤) luv it mate 💪.. Benwah.
Gday partner glad you like it. I remember the show indeed great stuff. She may have been a 9 speed overdrive where 8 and 9 are around the other way? Anyway I only have earlier accos with twin sticks but have others with road rangers I will eventually video. I’m only new to it mate and the audio thing is annoying me hard. Sometimes it’s good but other times , especially when something is running, I can’t be heard. Even speaking directly into it. If you have any advice on this mate it’d be much appreciated. Great comment thanks Pat I’m doing my best mate. I’ve got plenty more in store so stick around. I’m trying to do different stuff with what I have here.
Beautiful old gear. Takes me back to when driving was an adventure. In kiwiland I've got an 04 C120 Century with a 450 6NZ Cat. Despite being a little more youthful, it's not that different from the 70s gear.
I really appreciate this channel and your passion for saving old trucks/machines from rotting away. I particularly like this video because that truck is one of my favorites of your vast collection due to it being an 8 wheeler, a Kenworth, and it having a Big Cam Cummins in it. Keep it up, matey
Thank you mate. It’s one of my favourites too. I got it for an absolute steal. I will be doing more on it this year. Putting another tray on it off my blue transtar and just tidying it up for registration. It’s people like you I do it all for mate that appreciate me

Hi Steve, found you today in my recommendations. So glad I did, watched a few of your videos starting with the Chev Blitz. Fantastic stuff mate, keep 'em coming. Take care, Norm in Yorkshire, UK.
Hi Norm thanks for watching and the nice comment. There will be plenty more to come, plenty of variety too. I’m hoping to improve the video quality (I can’t hold it still 😂) but anyway thanks again mate and be sure to check out previous videos and stay around for the new ones
I like seeing other people that bring the old trucks back to life. I have a few kw 900 a models and love to run my old detroit the most. Keep it up from Alaska
That’s great mate thank you. The w900 are collector items over here now and expensive. Great work. I like driving the Detroit’s I have here. Have a look through the channel if you haven’t already. Most have been on here. And from Alaska? That’s fantastic. Still getting used to this being viewed world wide mate. Thanks again 🙏🙏🍻🍻
Thanks for watching and hopefully enjoying partner. I’m going to do one on her. I recently went down to look at it for this reason and found the engine to trans bolts were all loose so hopefully this wasn’t a problem with previous owners and affect’s it
Hi Paul thanks I’m certainly going to try mate. I’m really enjoying it. It will be tractors and repair jobs as well but at this stage we doing a bit with the trucks so we filming it to share
Great show Steve. I drove a truck with a 400 Cummins great engine. I like that flatbed truck but not fond of the double steer axle, just weird. Love the blue truck 8V71 Jimmy great job on that truck.
We are going on a run in the morning (Friday) mate with them. I’m driving the old white and my dad in the grey one and a mate of mine in the blue one. I’m going to film it as good as I can. The grey one is as original as it was sold to commet in 1973 and that’s how she’s staying. We aren’t going to paint or chrome anything. It’s a real show stopper that one, especially to blokes that know what she is.
Great video steve, glad I found your channel, can’t wait for the next instalment. P.s no more spiders! nearly filled my pants when that thing took off 😂

hi Steve just came across your channels just watched the '"will it start" 903 loueville and now this one.I'm not sure if you've brought back fond memories or nightmares.Back in the eighties i drove the 903 louey's twin 5" stacks on each cab corner(no mufflers no bunk) and also a day cab kenny 871 15 speed direct box it was also originally a grey gost and god 8'9'10 hrs a day in those things were hard plus other trucks over the years i'm now 61and they were LOUD and to this day my ears still have a constant ringing in them the louey was nicked named the "bird scarer" that was a common name for really loud trucks then i drive auto's now what i'd give to drive one of those again NOTHING LOL BUT SERIOUSLY I enjoyed seeing the old girls again thanks Paul
Hi Paul thanks for watch glad you enjoyed mate. I have 2 of those 903s and I have four 8v71 detroits, 2 of which are in day cab Kenworths. One TNT and one Comet. They are very noisy yes mate indeed. I also have a straight 671 in a white which is right out of control with the noise of that one. Just from a weekend away in those the ears are ringing for a week after. The big v8 Cummins were known as bird scarers that’s right. Go back through my other videos if interested mate and check out the other ones. Good to talk Paul thanks again
I’d like to see the old butter boxes fired up. We have an old bogie drive we use every week moving grain about the farm. She fires up every time rain hail or shine. Beast!
Yeah ok mate how good. That blue one in the lineup is a Perkins and bogey drive. She’s a 5x3 twin stick. I think all bogeys were at that stage, unless automatic
Steve like to see the old dodge go keep up the great work mate I appreciate the effort you put in you really involve the viewers for feedback nice to see
Thanks Peter these comments help a lot. I get criticised for talking too much but it’s how I’m going to do it because I like to explain what’s going on and anything I know about the equipment we are showing. Thanks mate
Thanks for watching Peter. That is an original ghost mate in the order that it finished with comet all those years ago. Very popular at a truck/tractor show. I will start one of the Louisville’s up no problem. Both of those are v8 Cummins 903’s. I only get 1 day a week to do it mate so standby but it will come
Yeah mate she is a beauty. There was a lot of them around years ago I believe. My Dad used to run one in the 70’s out of the bush carting mine prop’s. not many of this model still out there working, around Sydney anyway. Thanks for the nice comments Ian, the exact reason I’m sharing all this
Hey Steve I also grew up working at my grandfather's trucking company that's what got me into being an Automotive Technician. He ran all Mack and only Mack. Heavy hauling and rigging mostly. I worked on a bunch of old R models with 237s 300s 300+ 350s all through the years. It would be cool to see more of your Mack's that drive on the wrong side.
Hi Ben. Mack is a great product mate. Yeah hanging around the grandfathers always leads to doing something similar yourself. I only have one more here, I have another one elsewhere but still have to get it back home. The red r model here is a 237 with a 6 speed.
Gday John thanks for watching mate. Plenty more videos coming, I’m enjoying doing them and reading and replying to the comments. That blitz with the side valve v8 was locked up when I got it quiet a few years ago. I’ve had trans oil down the plug holes now for a few years. Haven’t tried it since. We could do a video and see if we can get it to turn over? If it doesn’t we could pop the heads off and find the problem. I actually have a ford flatty on a stand as well if you’d like to see that start up
Gday Tubby thanks for the comments and watching. Yeah the Kenworth’s are nice. I can do one on the ford mate. I’ve never had it going. It was locked up when I got it years ago. I’ve had oil down the plug holes the whole time but haven’t since tried it. If we can’t get it going I can do an episode of taking the heads off and finding the problem. I also have a chev blitz with the chev 6 cylinder in it. I’d love a cletrac in my collection, and there’s nothing wrong with Isuzu trucks by any means. Great product.
Hey steve, enjoy your vids, id like to see the flinstone and the r model mack fire up, will it starts are very popular on here as im sure you know, that white 4000 brought back some memories drove one in the early 90,s with a big cam cummins in it on hendrickson rough as guts but fun. regards
Hi Ned. Thanks for watching. If you go back in my channel there are vids of me using the flintstone and doing a start on it. The R model I will eventually do a start up on no problem. I have a few requests for first starts so I will eventually do one. The 4000 is a good truck, it’s only a 671 but goes ok, bit more power would be nice. It is rough though like you said yours was
Hi mate thanks for the nice comments. There’s 2 1948 (roughly) Bedford trucks, one has a v8 Holden in it, not standard but does look it and the other is original. There’s a 680 powerplus Leyland engine in that crane truck, and I believe a mate of mine has given me an Austin truck that I still need to pick up in the next few weeks, that will be an episode. I can’t tell you the model of it, I don’t know anything about them but it’s a cab over/ forward control truck. Plus a few fordson tractors, and other bits and pieces
Hi mate most will it start videos tend to have good followers. You need to say that in the title and the longer it's stood the better. Looking forward to seeing them.
Hi mate thanks for watching. What do you mean exactly? Just write, will it start?there will be plenty more. I’m trying to scatter them a bit amongst other stuff
Hi,Steve, & Hello from the UK, I enjoy watching ALL,your vids, I'm semiretired, been in trucks & coaches as owner driver, & brought up on a farm, I would love it if you can do a start/drive on the old Volvo G89, I used to run an F89, on France/Italy runs years ago, their 330 12ltr engine with 16spd was/is hard to beat, best regards John, from Essex UK.
Hi mate. Thanks for the nice comment and for watching. It’s blokes like you that I like to date it with. There’s a video on the 88 we have here already up, and the G89 is very rough and rusted out, but it still runs and drives. Is that the one you mean?
Hi Steve. Talked to you before. You mentioned that dozer with 371 . Another story but he put that motor in an old internation panal truck Made Jakes for it . You knew it was coming
Hi mate, yes that dozer is a 371 that’s right. I’ve heard of blokes doing it, mainly with the 53 series due to the smaller size and a higher rpm. The Jake’s off a v653 or a v671 will absolutely fit a 3 cylinder of the same series. They are the same heads. I’m sure you could hear it
Love the Detroit-powered K100s 🙂 Of all the trucks in the Later Line it’d be that glorious F88 I’d like to see run and drive; they’ve long been my favourites. I’m guessing 240bhp by the narrow chrome grille and F88 by having the access step ahead of the front axle? G88 had a set-forward front axle with the step behind it 🙂
Hi mate, the Volvo is a G88 280 horsepower TD100 engine, 16 speed Volvo box with 38 Rockwell diffs on Hendrickson. I will do a start up on it soon enough
I dont know how I missed this video from earlier ! A couple unique old trucks here . I would like to more about the old old red truck down back , Its a Bedford I think . I did see Roger and one of his mates milling around. I do see some old Bedford trucks around when I am in Australia, usually just sitting around. Are they out of production now ? Thanks again Steve. Scott
Hi Scott. Thanks for the nice comment. The only red trucks that come to mind that are down the back are international’s. I have 2 Bedford trucks here but the are little ones and both are 48 model’s I think. Really old. I don’t think they make them anymore. They were imported into Australia so maybe they may still exist overseas. I will do a walk around episode of a few of them one day
I I’ll do an episode on that one but it may be a bit different to the one you drove. That one has had a re power with a 5 cylinder 2 stroke UD in it. What did your one have in it?
Hi Trev yes it runs great. It had sat for roughly 20 years before I got it and it only took about 20 minutes to get it running. Great stuff mate they are good trucks I believe. I haven’t had a lot to do with them. Thanks for comment and watching. I will eventually do a run of that one
Hi thanks for watching and subscribing. That’s no problem, it’s on the list of things other people want started up so stay tuned. The transtar needs a tune but she does run. It’s a Detroit but it’s fairly quiet
The whole thing sounds interesting. I just recently got a 4070 transtar with a 250 in it. That will be an episode to bring it home. It’s more of a parts truck but she should crank up. I’ve never seen it go in all the years I’ve known it.
Gday Graeme thanks for watching. The 400 I’ve had for a few years now, 8v71n gm 15speed with Eaton diffs, hopefully will get to getting it on the road. Fairly unique truck theses days I’d say. The 4070 I only just bought off my uncle who is moving. It’s a 74 model I think, 871n with 13spd overdrive and rockwells. I really like those slimline cabs
4070 was first truck learnt changing roadranger, the stick went from one side of cab to the other. Very hard for someone to change when never used roadranger.before. it had Cummins 335 15sp
Yeah okay mate. She must of been well worn. They have the best looking cab. I have another one for parts. It’s a 250 Cummins. I will do a video on it when I bring it home. My uncle had a brand new one in 74 with a 335 in it as well
Thank you I just recently went to a truck show and there was a 1973 Volvo g88 tractor unit there and alot of other old trucks like r series macks and a 1969 international dcf400
I have an r model Mack here and a 1969 dcf 400. I have a 1973 g89 here too which sounds way better than the g88 here, only because the 89 is straight off the turbo. Sounds brilliant, but everyone wants to see the 88 start still which is fine. It will be a quiet video. Thanks for your interest
I will mate absolutely when I get time. The ford blitz was locked up when I got it and haven’t since tried. I have a chev one also that hasn’t ran in years but can try that one also

I will start one of the Louisville’s up no problem. Both of those are v8 Cummins 903’s. I only get 1 day a week to do it mate so standby but it will come
Love them Detroit sound
Hi mate. They sure sound good. Plenty more episodes on them in my channel
Great content Steve , weird seeing a k100 8 legger seemed exotic compared to the scammell’s and foden’s I saw as kid running out of the local quarry
@@stevesplacedownunder ok I'll be patient
hi mate Wald love to see you get the old ford v8 going if possible keep them good videos coming mate
I actually have a ford flatty on a stand as well if you’d like to see that start up
Great video mate, I like the Kenworth's. I'd like to see the Ford Blitz in a episode. I've got an old Cletrack crawler and 3 trucks, all Isuzu.
All the dozers n plant machines
It is rough though like you said yours was
Small cab's 😱😱 👍
Great cabs mate👍👍🤘
good show mate love that old white day cab. sweet old girl
Thanks mate yes she certainly is nice
Hi Steve,
This channel is a great find!
Got any British stuff there apart from that Leyland terrier/boxer?
Keep up the good work 🇬🇧
Hi mate thanks for the nice comments.
WHAT A AWESOME RIG. YOU HAVE A TON OF CABOVER'S.
Yeah it is mate indeed. I don’t really favour them over the conventional trucks, I like both but I just get what’s available and I can afford.
@@stevesplacedownunder understand that
Hi mate most will it start videos tend to have good followers. You need to say that in the title and the longer it's stood the better. Looking forward to seeing them.
Hi mate thanks for watching. What do you mean exactly? Just write, will it start?there will be plenty more. I’m trying to scatter them a bit amongst other stuff
Be nice to see what your restoring next
It could be anything mate. If I had more time I’d be starting to do one now
Hi,Steve, & Hello from the UK, I enjoy watching ALL,your vids, I'm semiretired, been in trucks & coaches as owner driver, & brought up on a farm, I would love it if you can do a start/drive on the old Volvo G89, I used to run an F89, on France/Italy runs years ago, their 330 12ltr engine with 16spd was/is hard to beat, best regards John, from Essex UK.
Another story but he put that motor in an old internation panal truck
Made Jakes for it .
You got some stuff I've never seen
I don’t think I have to much rare stuff here mate. Unless some of the Australian made stuff you may not have seen before?
SWEET
I will do a walk around episode of a few of them one day
would like to see the cream acco start up as i passed my hgv in one of those
I I’ll do an episode on that one but it may be a bit different to the one you drove. That one has had a re power with a 5 cylinder 2 stroke UD in it. What did your one have in it?
Green and white mack
👍
Does the the Blue Leyland Terrier run? First truck i drove here in uk was 7.5 ton Leyland Terrier in Roadline Green.
Hi Trev yes it runs great. It had sat for roughly 20 years before I got it and it only took about 20 minutes to get it running. Great stuff mate they are good trucks I believe. I haven’t had a lot to do with them. Thanks for comment and watching. I will eventually do a run of that one
Could you please do a episode on the red crane or bucket truck on the end
Hi mate. I certainly can but which one do you mean exactly?
Steve's Place Down Under Like too see That White Cabove with green line on it if it will run and Drive billy Bob Uniontown pa USA
Hi Billy Bob thanks for watching. Do you mean the G88 Volvo?
Hi man what about little Leyland truck looks great it was my first truck but my best truck is bedfords
Hi mate. I will do a video on it. It’s a Leyland Terrier I think
The matador
Indeed
on the bulldozers
Will do Paul 👍👍👍
Hi
I’d love to see the Transtar DCO 400 running we had one and would love to find another one
Hi thanks for watching and subscribing. That’s no problem, it’s on the list of things other people want started up so stay tuned. The transtar needs a tune but she does run. It’s a Detroit but it’s fairly quiet
@@stevesplacedownunder ours only had a cummins 250 but the pump was interesting 😉
The whole thing sounds interesting. I just recently got a 4070 transtar with a 250 in it. That will be an episode to bring it home. It’s more of a parts truck but she should crank up. I’ve never seen it go in all the years I’ve known it.
Actually could be a 220? Can’t remember now
@@stevesplacedownunder can’t wait
How come the Blue 1 has a squeak in it. Seems to be when Mick is pushing the clutch in
She needs a bearing on the pedal hanger I’d say. Spray doesn’t work, I’ve tried that
G'day Steve what's the go with the old 400 transtar and the 4070
Gday Graeme thanks for watching.
My uncle had a brand new one in 74 with a 335 in it as well
And the bulldozers
And the dozers aswell mate no problem
Can U start the blue leyland please? And the red R series mack please?
Yes mate no problem I sure will. I’ve got a back log of recorded videos to edit but yes it will happen
Can ya do a start up on the g88 please
Yes mate I will be doing that one no problem. Had a lot of requests for that one
What's up
Start up the G88 and the blitz
I will mate absolutely when I get time. The ford blitz was locked up when I got it and haven’t since tried. I have a chev one also that hasn’t ran in years but can try that one also
@@stevesplacedownunder try some chemsearch yield , comes in a gold can a must have miracle spray devolves rust pinched rings , rotaries with sticky seals. Might take a few applications but works for me. Crc penetrate is the cheaper alternative just takes a lot longer. Need 3x more of it too. Totally enjoyed the grey ghost.
I’ve got yield here we use it good product. I’ve had atf oil down the plug holes for a few years now but haven’t tried turning it since
that old pill box KW would not of been a 400 cummins from new,..... what was original motor? my dad drove one similar but a semi with a vt903 15sp rr
Hi mate it was a naturally aspirated 903 originally
@@stevesplacedownunder hey bud, i thought either a 903 or 8v71
don't think the small headlight KWs had the 400 as an option
@@markc1456 no it was fitted later on
Any of them. Bulldozers, diggers, is that blue cab truck down the back another KW.
There’s plenty more of it to come mate
What's up
Nothing boss. You?
