Ether starting fluid should definitely not be used on Diesel engines, especially not if they haven't been started for a long time.

Hi Guys, I am a modeler from Germany who fell in love with the beautiful US Class 8 Highway Trucks. Since I build my models completely myself without any kits, I am constantly looking for information about them. I prefer the early vintages from the late 40s to the late 80s. Now I would like to start the Kenworth Needlenose series like in this video, but I can't find exact dimensions for the cab anywhere. Here in Germany, unfortunately, I can't just drive around the corner to measure. That's why I'm taking the liberty of asking for help here. Can someone tell me how wide the rear wall of the cabin is, the total width across the fenders and the width and height of a door? This would help me a lot to calculate all the other measurements. It would be a great pleasure if there was someone in the US, maybe an owner, who would support me...

Can’t see what you’re working with under the hood. Looks like it’s an NH 250 ? If it has a PT pump prime it. There’s a hex plug on the top of the
pump body near where the solenoid is mounted. * do you have a functioning solenoid? * Turn in the knurled screw to put in manual “ on “.
If it still won’t go with a fresh supply of fuel, ( make sure the filter is full, and the small O ring is in place around the threaded mount on the
filter head. If still no start, unscrew the tachometer cable from the mounting flange of the fuel pump. Have someone turn the key, and crank
the engine while you look to see if the tachometer drive split shaft is rotating. If it isn’t then remove the pump and replace the drive woodruff key,
drive flange, and spider. Make sure the pump drive will rotate, as you could have broken pieces jamming the internal gears. Also, remove the
flat looking plug on the top of the pump body, it looks like you can remove it with a big flat screwdriver. There is a filter screen in there.
Make sure it’s not plugged up with crud. Good luck. It would have been nice to see up close both sides of the engine.

Forget what I said above. I’m only 70 years old. That’s not a PT fuel pump. It is an early rotary disc fuel pump. Only saw a few in the 70’s, never
worked on one as they where obsolete. Last ones I saw ( 4 of them, could have had them for their scrap weight ) came out of the old Buffalo N.Y.
fire tug when it was scrapped in Port Colburne Ontario in the mid 90’s ? Don’t know if you could find the components to upgrade this relic to a
PT pump. That engine might be a NH 185. Smaller block than an NH 250. I bet it sounds good when it’s running. The big problem with this style
of fuel pump was that when descending a long hill, the fuel would over heat in the pump with the throttle in the closed ( idle position). ).
      Good luck with your museum.
