    This is my first time hearing ND in regard to a weapons mounted light, but it fits and makes sense lol. You’re absolutely correct though, I love my streak lights and I own 2 Tlr 1’s but they are incredibly easy to activate. Even at the range when people shoot my guns equipped with Tlr 1’s you’ll see them accidentally hit the light. I can definitely see that being an issue in certain real world situations.

      @@Fergtactical Glad that you’re able to notice this and you agree. I like streamlight too but for this tlr-1 it has a big flaw. Not sure if anyone makes any different switches fixing this problem but on the new streamlight tlr 1 hlx, the switches are better. Good job being aware.

    The white subtitles on top are a nice touch for clarification or insight. I really appreciate the heads up on the NDs regarding the light. Ill use the info to my advantage to keep it in mind when training to use and familiarize myself with this system. Practice makes permanent.

      @@ltinfpr2j247 Glad you like that. Yes I add them for clarification or if I forget to mention something. No problem. Still one of the best and most common budget flashlights. Just something to be aware of when training and using. Yes training is very important.

    The Streamlight compared to the Surefire represents a fantastic alternative for the money and is proven to be a great weapons light. Less than half the cost of the Surefire so there is that...... I respect that you buy premium gear though.. I can relate :)

      @@TZOID08 I agree with you, you explained that well. It is a great alternative and decently priced. I’m glad they fixed the switches on the new x model, that was my main issue, then it was performance second. If people have the money or can save up for the x300 turbo I think it’s worth it but I understand not wanting to spend that much. Looking back on all the stuff I’ve bought,sold, then lost money on to upgrade, I’ve found it’s better and I’ve been happier in the long run to go with the better higher quality option. I’m glad you can relate and I respect your opinion.

    Question, have you ever noticed, seen, observed or heard of the concussive muzzle blast breaking or ruining the TLR 1 HL lens or diode?

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  27 дней назад +1

      @@ltinfpr2j247 I have never seen it break the TLR 1 HL or damage the lens. In the video it shows the muzzle blast slightly burning the plastic surface on the top and then some carbon builds up there. The top doesn’t continue to burn or melt, it just might build up carbon little by little on top right by the tip of the light. The lens itself will also get some carbon build up after shooting which I clean the light head lens after shooting each time so it doesn’t get a small layer of carbon film stuck on there. However the light or lens will not get damaged from that carbon build up, it looks pretty much brand new after I clean it. I also have another video of me showing how I clean the light. It will demonstrate a little better what I’m saying, but overall you should have no problems with the concussive muzzle blast damaging the flashlight, if it did it would be years down the line from thousands and thousands of rounds being fired. Some stuff just eventually gives out, especially stuff that is a little bit cheaper. I had 2 or 3 tlr 1 hls for about 2 years before I switched and had no problems. I know people who’ve had them for longer.

      This video kind of demonstrates it. It just slightly burns the top of the light head and builds some carbon on there over time, then builds up carbon on the lens which I clean off. The carbon that builds up on top gets kind of stuck there which I don’t care about, you could possibly chip it off if you really want to but it’s not a big deal to me.

      @@ltinfpr2j247 TLR 1 HL is one of the most reliable flashlights and it’s so common because of its cheaper cost when compared to the x300. I use a streamlight Tlr-7x for my edc and those are great too. If I didn’t use the x300 my next choice would be streamlight for my full size handgun. They’re reliable and durable flashlights at a fair price.

      @@ltinfpr2j247 I’ve never seen the diode damaged or affected in anyway. It’s enclosed and once the lens is cleaned I can see right inside to the diode looking brand new.

      Ive seen dudes rub a thin layer of Vaseline on the lens, that way they can wipe off that carbon build up easier.

    I have this light on an SA TRP Operator, an FN 510, and a CZ P10F and have not had an accidental light discharge with any of them. With the way they are installed and how I hold my pistols, I have to deliberately reach for the switch to turn them on. I don't own any Glocks so I don't hold my pistols with the forward thumb down to shoot them. My thumbs are up higher on the frame.

    Never heard of an nd nor have i ever had one with this light. Sounds like a you issue.

      @@LAAM619 Negligent discharges happen more on this light than any other light I’ve seen. ND is also a term used when people shoot their firearm without meaning to or in an unsafe direction. As I mentioned in the video, I’ve seen multiple people ND this light during training. Other instructors or people I’ve watched had said the same thing. I’ve heard tons of complaints about these switches on this light. Good shooters have had this same problem, I’ve even seen cops do it on body cams. It’s not a me problem. I’ve owned at least 3 of these lights. They all do the same thing. Streamlight designed these switches poorly, which they obviously heard negative feedback on them because they fixed the problem and changed the switches on there new Tlr-1 hl-x that just came out which I also mentioned in the video. If you’ve never had an nd with this light good for you, but it’s more likely to happen with this light and a lot of people over look this issue when doing it thinking it’s not a big deal when it is. I literally just saw a guy do this during training on Saturday when he reloaded. This video is meant to help and inform others. I still think it’s the best budget full size flashlight, I’ve used it for years and I can’t remember having an nd myself but it usually happens when holstering or training. I haven’t been able to try out the new and improved version HL-X. The light overall is good, but the switches aren’t ideal.
