Trevor Murray give rasp a shot. Worst comes to worst you end up in an airborne unit anyways. If you pass rasp you get to be in one of the best units in the entire military and have a path to Delta or SF afterwards if you want

What’s up Matt, just had this conversation with my sister the other day telling me I should wait for November. I’m considering going active and OCS. I’m prior service 11B in an airborne Nat. guard battalion from Texas. Grad school is not for me at the moment and rather start a family with my long time GF.

I was also brought at a young age at 4 years old and want to join the military but Trump wants us immigrants gone. There are probably also thousands of people like us that would love to serve this country but can't because of how ignorant Trump is. I am too waiting to see what happens so that people like us can join.
I think you can google to find out what it is. I want to say it’s 40-45 in so many mins. Like 2-4 mins but be sure it’s proper pushups the military wants same with sit-ups and running the miles as well.
Look up ACFT because push-ups have changed (you need to release you hands at the bottom) and the old APFT (90° or lower) style pushup is no longer in use.
As pointed out in the video, at any point in your 20 year career someone will get elected that you don’t want in the Oval Office. If you care too much about things you have no power over you will burn yourself up inside over those things. It’s like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die. Like Epictetus said: It isn’t things that upset is it is our judgments of things.
I’m sure it’s a little different in terms of national guard just on the basis of riots/protests and things like that in certain towns that gets heated by the presidents actions and words. Reserves and active duty probably wouldn’t be affected too much by the president.
Hey Matt I don’t know if you’re going to read this comment or not, but who gets sent to war zone? I’m looking to join the army but I’m not really looking for fighting in the front line. Does reserves get sent?
Sir, please do a video on what benefits reserve / National Guard member who have never deployed get. I just got in a car crash leaving me with servere nerve damage, (so bad I may get medical discharge) and am curious if I'll get anything out of my time in the military. Thanks.
I have a question. I have always wanted to join the military, but the past few years have been making wonder if I could even go to basic training or even go to recruiter. I’ve had a couple of concussions because I’m an active teenager that plays contact sports. Can I join the Army with concussions like they one done basically I haven’t had any bad side effects from them
Yes, when it’s more of a conversation. Or if you are asking a question. Really you only need to speak loudly when they tell you too/early on at BCT when things are hectic.
Are you gonna reclass? I have heard a lot about you wanting to do ranger school, many videos on RASP, Airborne, ect.. That'd be a cool video! "I, 1st Lt. Matt Ward, Ranger" Also, I am a C/srA in the Civil Air Patrol. I want to Join the Army as a 19D. Tanks for the advice!
@@MattWard89 aw. I bet you can do it. I guess it depends on the needs of the Army, but when it comes to the physical aspect of it, and also the mental, I bet you could do it.
Should I wait to join intill the Army creates its budget for next year ? Do you think the Army will offer some sort of Corona incentive pay ? I assume recuiting numbers are lower then normal during this pandemic.
If you don’t already have a degree get a degree first then if you really want go in. I recommend that to everyone because you’ll basically be in the same place as someone who enlisted out of HS, but with a degree. The military privileges people with degrees and incentivize it when you’re in. It’s much harder to get one once you’re in, you start as E4 or an officer if you have one, it’s all around 100% superior. The only people that ignore that are just too impatient in my mind. By the time you get a degree none of the other questions matter.
However, answering your questions, the budget should only affect your decision if you’re really concerned about promotion opportunity or experience quality. Lower budget=less opportunity and less enjoyable career (the Clinton era drawdown was awful. Horrible time to be in) No the army isn’t current planning incentive pay but if recruitment falls too low they will increase bonuses for certain MOSs. And yes I do believe recruitment is lower rn
Hey Matt have a question if you can help. Ok so I'm leaving the reserves to go active going 11x it's osut for 22 weeks so would I have to do basic in the osut being prior service
I do care who wins, but I know when I join my duty will be to defend my country even if I don't like the president. Leaders can change, but we cannot allow America's status of greatness to change
Here’s my take on it as someone who started applying in 2016 before the election and got in in 2018: We here in America elect Presidents, people who serve for a LIMITED time (4-8 years) with limited power. If you’re looking to be a 20 year person then you’re going to serve through the terms of multiple Presidents. I didn’t avoid the service for the loathing of either Clinton or Trump, and I didn’t join the service for the sake of either Clinton or Trump. At any point in your career a president will get elected that you don’t like. Stay off of social media, or don’t be too opinionated on it about what you think about whomever is POTUS at the time because it could get you discharged. And yes, the president doesn’t affect military life as much as you would think, not for most people in the service.
Biden 47 years in politics has done nothing good and remember he was one of the main orcastraters of the Iraq war and pushed the lie that they had WMD's. He has American and Iraqi blood on his hands!
Idc who's the president I'm joining the army because I want to serve my country not because I hate the president it doesn't matter if you like or respect the president
I WANT TO KNOW IF THE UNITED STATE MARINE OFFER ECONOMIC AND FINANCE BECAUSE I WANT TO JOINT THE UNITED STATE MARINE. IF YOU GET ANY IDEA CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Why do recruiters tell you to lie about medical things in the past? What should you do when you are honest at Meps and then everything is dropped bc the recruiter wasn’t honest and now feel like the ball was dropped on the person that was trying to join. Would appreciate advice on how to move forward. Or why recruiters aren’t getting back to you what should one do?
I mean find a different Army Recruiter. The AF has a smaller force and therefore can be more selective. Your best bet is Army or Navy. Recruiters want you to get through MEPS so you can sign. Some do it the right way and some don't. Finding a Different Recruiter in say another area may be your best bet. Be up front and say what happened and that you're not going that route again.
Mr. K.I.S.S that’s what we plan on doing and what we did going to AF was went to a different area and office. But AF seems to be getting no where. He said if he doesn’t hear back in another week. Then he was going to go to a different army recruiting office and be up front in hopes someone will help with the process and get a medical waiver if needed. Thanks so much.
To be honest you can make your decision based on current events, but to be honest the president does not make a huge difference. I joined and I don't care if Trump or Biden is president because I'm still serving the greatest nation
Great video, man! I’ve desperately wanted to join - but I’m transgender and the ban is keeping me from joining. But, ROTC is working for the time being!
Lol, I just told my step son wait to see who wins the elections. I gave him this advice from my own experience. I was not political when I was 17 and joined the military for the last year and a half of the Clinton presidency. We didn’t have the money to keep the ships or planes in good working order, buy tools, pay for training, etc. I had to purchase my own tools when I first got to a ship. I saw an enormous change in the moral, resources, training, and pay after W got elected. In the 3.5 years of the Bush presidency, I saw the pay almost double for an equivalent rank. I think I was making around the mid $50k mark by the time I got out in 2005. Around that time I compared the same pay to 1999 charts of an E5 with the housing allowance of that area, the pay was only high $20k to low $30k range. By the end of my 5 years I became very politically conservative.
Lol at the time I was really into what the lifestyle of SF would bring. I also didn’t even know about the career I’m in now and all the technology passions that I have. So I went the career path of tech vs SF.
@@MattWard89 yeah it's still a cool career path as a 25B if that's the stuff you like, just SF would've been really cool, I don't even know how you get offered a chance to go SF
From experience, it depends on your job. In the case of 2012, your dad was right and unless he's had a massive change in political views, he'd be right again...99% of the military is hardly effected by the President, but some Presidents have used the militaries heavy hitters as legacy builders. Trump did not do this, but Obama did. Trump allowed military leaders to make the calls and on more than one occasion, Obama did not. This is not info that is hard to find. We lost guys to some rushed bonehead calls that were a direct response from a landline phone at the whitehouse. Again, this video is mostly spot on, but Biden is not going to offer the same funding or support. He's not going to pardon anyone for inappropriate behavior (cause you are supposed to kill with class smh).
I was just thinking about this. Well said.

Sons of Liberty75 I only know what the drawdown in the 90s was like under Clinton. It was awful, the troops HATED Clinton. 80%+ did not like him, but I can only imagine it was terrible under Obama too. I don’t know how bad he drew down the military
I'm independent, I personally think, neither Trump or Biden will do THEE BEST for the country but no matter if any other country trys to attack us, I'm still gonna join lol
@dog It is fine if you like or dislike Trump, people have their own options. I don't see a reason to argue about it. Besides, I did not say anything to offend people who like Trump, nor the same with Biden.
Finally more good Hecking Information
Definitely a video I need, I was in the mindset if Biden wins I don’t want to enlist. Hell now the main thing is choosing option 4 or 40 lol
Same haha sleepy joe
Option 40 obviously. Who wants to be in a conventional airborne unit when you could be in Regiment?
Lol
Zahrio mainly to go to the 82nd, I’m not sure if I’ll be physically ready for rasp but hell why not never know until you try
Trevor Murray give rasp a shot. Worst comes to worst you end up in an airborne unit anyways. If you pass rasp you get to be in one of the best units in the entire military and have a path to Delta or SF afterwards if you want
Please God Trump 2020 🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Trump 2020!
It plays a HUGE role in my decision. I would never enlist under bad leadership (Obama). Im swearing in 9/11/20 btw. Your dad is smart.
When people talk about bad leader ship, they are talking about direct leadership that actually has an impact on day to day life. Not the president who isn’t going to effect how your unit operates
Riley Freeman what’s the Presidents position? Commander in chief? Sounds pretty direct to me.
@@O2D-816 you wont ever interact with the comander in cheif lol
Rubeno_24 you don’t know that. But I understand what you’re saying
@@O2D-816 i do know that as an e1 to e3 yoinwont ever need to interact with the us president lol

What’s up Matt, just had this conversation with my sister the other day telling me I should wait for November. I’m considering going active and OCS. I’m prior service 11B in an airborne Nat. guard battalion from Texas. Grad school is not for me at the moment and rather start a family with my long time GF.
There is a video of an actual green beret saying that you don’t join the military base on who is the president
Joining Air Force have to get down to 202 lbs first. My recruiter told me to let her know when I got there 😢
Avakain Brian Thank you hoping to be there by December.
Keep working man you’ll get it, I actually ship out for Air Force BMT the 22nd
ThyToneBone good luck man
ThyToneBone Thanks men. Good Luck give us an update of how it went when you can.
They told me the same thing I was 199 I'm down to 171 and BMI is 19 percent but they still telling me I need to be less weight but the role me fo be at 19 BMI which I did but there just messing with me so gave up on em but dont give up though
I've been thinking about this for a few months.
Shipping to boot on September 28.
Leonard Wood? 28th is my BCT start date
Hey what’s up y’all I’m shipping to benning on the 28th!
Ethan Hunt for OSUT or basic?
Richard Lynch yeah
@@ethanhunt305 WHOO!. I hope to end up at Benning sometime after AIT for AIRBORNE!! Best of luck to ya brother.
Planning to join but don’t weight enough to qualify, metabolism is through the roof
Well Matt let me explain my situation I was born outside this country I was brought here at a young age age of 5 and have been living in the United stated and working with a type of work Visa now all my life all my life I wanted to join the army and I've done everything to make that dream possible now our current commander in chief wants to get rid of me deport me and even tho I am willing to sacrifice blood sweat and tears for this country my county some people still don't want me so I'm left in a dumb waiting game to see where I'll end up one side our current president wants me out the next side our former vice president dosen't only want me to stay but he want to give me the chance to serve so sadly all I can do is pray and wait
I was also brought at a young age at 4 years old and want to join the military but Trump wants us immigrants gone. There are probably also thousands of people like us that would love to serve this country but can't because of how ignorant Trump is. I am too waiting to see what happens so that people like us can join.
What is a good total number of pushups to be able to do for basic training??
I think you can google to find out what it is. I want to say it’s 40-45 in so many mins. Like 2-4 mins but be sure it’s proper pushups the military wants same with sit-ups and running the miles as well.
Look up ACFT because push-ups have changed (you need to release you hands at the bottom) and the old APFT (90° or lower) style pushup is no longer in use.
I pray Trump gets re-elected. I'll be joining the military soon, and I kinda won't feel comfortable with Biden as president......
Trump has been chosen already....MAGA2020
Edwin Pro are you WWG1WGA
As pointed out in the video, at any point in your 20 year career someone will get elected that you don’t want in the Oval Office. If you care too much about things you have no power over you will burn yourself up inside over those things. It’s like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die.
Like Epictetus said: It isn’t things that upset is it is our judgments of things.
Same here brother. Trump 2020
Idk, joining end of year, little nervous with Dementia in chief rn.
My Fiance and i were just talking about this....weird
I was just thinking about it like 15 mins ago haha
I’m sure it’s a little different in terms of national guard just on the basis of riots/protests and things like that in certain towns that gets heated by the presidents actions and words. Reserves and active duty probably wouldn’t be affected too much by the president.
That being said it’s still not going to have a HUGE impact
I graduated in 97. I waited until 2001 after Bush was elected. Honestly I wish I hadn’t waited and enlisted in 1997.
I am joining the National Gaurd, and my mom has tried to dissuade me from joining because of political turmoil.
Personally Im just worried about my paycheck haha
Can I join the Army with concussions like they one done basically I haven’t had any bad side effects from them
Shipping out to fort Jackson next month oct 6
Not sure if any previous videos answered this but.
Is there ever a time during basic training you don’t have to yell back to the DI
Yes, when it’s more of a conversation. Or if you are asking a question. Really you only need to speak loudly when they tell you too/early on at BCT when things are hectic.
Matt Ward ok thanks, planning on basic after I graduate
Are you gonna reclass? I have heard a lot about you wanting to do ranger school, many videos on RASP, Airborne, ect.. That'd be a cool video! "I, 1st Lt. Matt Ward, Ranger"
Also, I am a C/srA in the Civil Air Patrol. I want to Join the Army as a 19D. Tanks for the advice!
I wish I could do Ranger school. I’ve been trying to make it happen but it’s going to be unlikely
@@MattWard89 aw. I bet you can do it. I guess it depends on the needs of the Army, but when it comes to the physical aspect of it, and also the mental, I bet you could do it.
I’m 15 and struggling with school and think I want to enlist at 17 thoughts
Do it
Name in our system? I know you can remove it. but when does it end. Do you know anything about recruitment online or should it be better face to face
The recruiter I spoke with said the covid vaccine when it's finished will be mandated for all military??
Horrible time to be in)
No the army isn’t current planning incentive pay but if recruitment falls too low they will increase bonuses for certain MOSs.
And yes I do believe recruitment is lower rn
Hey Matt have a question if you can help. Ok so I'm leaving the reserves to go active going 11x it's osut for 22 weeks so would I have to do basic in the osut being prior service
I don't know what everybody is worried about, its not like there's a difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Regardless if it's a police officer or military, uphold the US Constitution of the oath when people raise their right hand
I do care who wins, but I know when I join my duty will be to defend my country even if I don't like the president. Leaders can change, but we cannot allow America's status of greatness to change
Here’s my take on it as someone who started applying in 2016 before the election and got in in 2018:
We here in America elect Presidents, people who serve for a LIMITED time (4-8 years) with limited power.
Meeting with a recruiter tomorrow.... Biden 2020 🇺🇸
Biden 47 years in politics has done nothing good and remember he was one of the main orcastraters of the Iraq war and pushed the lie that they had WMD's. He has American and Iraqi blood on his hands!
Lshadows13 shut up
If I signed up and qualified for a bonus before the election period, is it guaranteed regardless on if the military budget is cut?
Any news about why the merch is taking forever to get shipped to me?
What’s your name on the order?
Matt Ward I got it right as I got back from meps today it’s massive on me though so I gotta size down a bit.
Matt Ward Name on the order was Caleb Thompson
This comment section ain't it, chief 💀
Idc who's the president I'm joining the army because I want to serve my country not because I hate the president it doesn't matter if you like or respect the president

Biden The President!
SMH: Is your IQ below 60??
Yes biden the guy that pushed the lie of Iraq having WMD's. Send biden back to his basement 2020.
Are you still in the army? 😮
If daddy trumps in office he'll give you a nice lil bonus 😉
Find another Recruiter and tell them what happened.
Mr. K.I.S.S that’s what we did. Army did that. Now been waiting 3 plus weeks to hear from AF.
I ship March 16th 2021 to Fort Sill
What was your GT score?
Mine was 124...
@@davidcarothers3311 Mines is a 102, but I don't think ima retake the asvab until 26, or while in, if possible
Why didn’t you go 18x?
I'm thinking on going for air force (SERE op) and i want to know if there is any advice i could get from anyone in the comments
You shouldn't have let politics stop you from joining the military. You take an oath and it is what it is.
I hadn’t taken an oath yet?
Thank you so much for this I have been thinking about this for a while

Hey matt is 12B a good MOS
Shipping out as a 12b on the 14th! if you like construction, demolition, and borderline infantry life, 12b is a great mos
I joined the Guard during the Clinton Era
You gave up special forces and became a POG, WHATS WRONG WITH YOU, lol😂
Lol at the time I was really into what the lifestyle of SF would bring. I also didn’t even know about the career I’m in now and all the technology passions that I have. So I went the career path of tech vs SF.
@@MattWard89 yeah it's still a cool career path as a 25B if that's the stuff you like, just SF would've been really cool, I don't even know how you get offered a chance to go SF
Anyone going to Leonard Wood December 29th?
The real question is why did u want mitt Romney to win
You gave up an 18x contract? Damn
Yepp..
Trump 2020! MAGA!
