Im at the airport rn about to leave for Basic Training at Fort Jackson. Please pray for me 💞
Tanya Solis I’m going to Jackson as well!
Today
I went through basic training at Ft. Jackson in 1999.
@@MartinOrtiz-vk4lf thats cool are you at the Atlanta airport by any chance
Tanya Solis No. I’m going by bus, I wish I went by plane though. I’ll probably get there by 9:00 pm
Most dangerous thing is YOU!! If you doubt yourself you will have a hard time at basic. Always go in with a positive mindset and remember why you signed up!
This is so true. I just graduated and I performed very poorly because I doubted myself so much. Its really all a mind game were I lost because I believed I wasn't good enough for the Army
I’m shipping to fort Benning this Sunday so I’ll try to remember all this!
Good luck!
Omery Warshowsky: thanks, I’ll need it!
Yo sameee
Yooo let us know how it went
Good luck man!
At the hotel for MEPS right now, headed to Fort Jackson tomorrow. Thank you for helping me prepare!
I’m at the hotel right now, I’m going to Jackson tmw and I’ll keep in mind all things I’ve watched from your channel
Whats it like the seccond day i ship August 3rd
John Carter I’m in the room by myself and you have to wear a mask. Idk how MEPS will be tmw but I’ll come back to let you know
There only like a few that will go to MEPS with you and you wear a mask the whole time. You’ll just do an inspect and basically will be on your way
Great content bro 👍🏾👍🏾love the military videos
Shipping out to Fort Jackson tomorrow ! Thank you for all the tips !
All accidents are preventable. Think and plan a safe response to your mission.
Graduated basic on the 8th! Your videos helped me 😁
How was it?
Oh yeah? After I choose my MOS theyll give me a date
Was basic training at all hard ? How was it ? I weightlift 3x a week, do cardio daily as well as walking, push-ups sit-ups everyday
Jojo okay cool deal. What are the push-ups and sit-ups regulations? Pull-ups?
Matt is right! Stay hydrated and pay attention.
Thanks for the videos! Going to Fort Jackson tomorrow ✌
Hello, Matt! Joined your channel recently, there is very interesting content. Thank you for giving info, I hope to join the Army in the future!!!
Happy Tuesday* Matt!
Thanks, I ship Thursday morning and this was useful
Good information. Thanks :)
Thanks for always giving great information in your videos Matt!
Not drinking water. Especially in summer time, you’ll become a heat casualty (heat cat) very quickly. That goes for the winter time as well. When you ruck they will tell you not to wear any cold weather gear and just suck it up for the first hour of being cold, and trust me it will save your life.
loved the video
I leave for fort jackson tomorrow morning!!
Oh boy good luck
Good luck if you end up in Charlie 4-39 your drill sergeants will be pretty cool
If you end up in 3/34 say what’s up to DS Edwards
Muggy weather down here
S Wizzle im from Louisiana im used to the muggy weather 😂
I went to FT. Benning last June. Charlie 2-47, First Platoon. Thanks for the help and love watching your videos
I got till August, so I’m glad I got that time to gather info from ya. 👍
Going into the marines for recon these videos even tho it’s not for marine basic training it still helps build up the confidence to go thank you brother 🤙🏻
I’m on a shuttle to go to reception at Jackson right now!
Martin Ortiz the shark attack isn’t bad. Go to the color that your assigned. Example red dot= your platoon color. I saw a DS pick up someone running to the wrong color. They’ll get in your face so close they’ll look like cyclops. It’s funny after a bit. Also don’t expect much sleep the first few days. Just keep taking the steps and do as your told to do!
Danny Alfaro thank you. I really appreciate the advice!
Martin Ortiz just graduated back in April!! You’re gonna have so much fun man!! And make a lot of new friends!! Definitely will be a culture shock!! The first 3 days are gonna be the hardest but stay motivated!!! After that, it really isn’t so bad.
Martin Ortiz Good luck! - NorCal Be Safe and be confident.💪🏽
Shipping out to Jackson on the 2nd wish me luck! Your videos helped me out and help calm my nerves a lot!
Shipping to Fort Sill next Wednesday I'm nervous as hell and super excited.
Hang in there just do what they tell you and you'll do fine.
Thanks for all the BT videos you've released. They've helped me prepare for it. I'll be leaving for Fort Sill on June 29th and training to be a 35F afterwards.
July 27th Leonard Wood!
I leave for Fort Benning in six days. Thanks for the very helpful vid.
On my way to fort Jackson right now from missouri may 25th 2020 kind of nervous more overwhelmed then anything thank you for your videos see all of you when I get out stay safe
About to leave Fort Lee graduate AIT Quartermaster school in a few days. These videos really helped me prepare for basic training at Fort Jackson especially the map reading and land navigation. Thank you for all the work you put into these guidance videos Matt Ward.
I ship in 5 days, and your videos have helped so much
Good luck!
Joshua Valentin thank you!
thankYou! heat casualties are serious business... stay hYdr8'd soLdierZ!
Ship out to benning August 24th 11x

Going to Benning next week. Definitely not looking forward to the weather lol.
Thanks
I graduate from fort Benning in 5weeks a Guy from a different company heat catted and died stay hydrated
I ship June 3rd to fort Jackson and ive been watching your videos since September to prepare for MEPS and basic!
I leave next week for basic!!!
Hi Matt, I was in Navy Bootcamp during the winter. I’m happy they are pushing drinking water. Even though we were inside people were overheating
June 3rd Fort Jackson anyone else?
The most dangerous thing is being stuck at 30 AG at fort Benning with covid 19 going on. After two weeks of waiting finally got sent out to real boot camp fox 247 than some one else popped hot for covid 19 now we are all stuck in these nasty ass rooms with black ass water coming out and no hot water. The list goes on this sucks. The only bright side we get our phones.
Wow, early for once. Great video as always man!
I was supposed to go March 30th. But quarantine shot that down, still waiting for a new ship date. I appreciate your videos
Where were you shipping to? Fort Benning hasnt had any delays
@@jadendeason3874 fort Leonard Wood Missouri
@@auroncloud5667 wait you gotta go back to meps? Have you enlisted yet?
@@auroncloud5667 ohhhhhh okay that makes sense. Well meps sence. Keep your head up man you got this. Hopefully you can swear in and ship out soon. Also I assume you're going 12 bravo too?
@@auroncloud5667 Good luck to you too
Ship to fort Leonard wood June 17th!
I’ll catch up to you a month after!
I’ve seen what they do with heat casualties. I wasn’t one but it’s interesting lol
Hey Everyone, just be aware that there will be a 14 day quarantine period before going to reception. This goes for all branches as far as I'm concerned. Leave for Jackson tomorrow morning.
That is not the case for Benning, i can confirm
@@jadendeason3874 Yeah I go in a couple of days, and it seems like it's just an additional 2 days at reception right?
@@bigboibubba5528 Not even. You're reception should be the normal amount. 5-7 days
@@jadendeason3874 oh awesome
Got through meps. Getting on the plane to fort Leonard wood. Army 88m. As of now we are going through reception then a 2 week quarantine then basic.
Hey Matt I have been watching your videos for over a year and I finally am about to go to basic (June 9th). Thanks for all the tips!
Yo where, fort jackson i leave the 9th too...
I also leave for Jackson but on June 8th, Meps on the 7th.
Going to Sill
I ship out for Fort Benning on the 29th of june man i cant wait
Thanks Matt for all the videos , I wouldn’t be as nearly as prepared without you! Shipping to Benning June 23 as a 19D! (OSUT)
I have the exact same mos, I ship out June 22 though. Calvary Scouts 👍
Awesome Dude Maybe we’ll see each other there man! Hooah! 🇺🇸 (add me on snap or insta @malk4202 , if you want to chat or whatever!)
PFC Brown. I remember I was with Echo 1-19 at Fort Sill last summer (I’m in the VA National Guard) and a guy in my bay got super upset and punched the damn wall locker. He broke his hand and became a holdover (he couldn’t train anymore). In our Battery, if you were a holdover, you had to wait to go home with everyone else.
I’m VAARNG as well! Shipping out for basic June 3rd
Alyssa Riley Awesome. Remember. Don’t give up. It’s all in your head.
Throwing live grenades and shooting at the range is probably the most dangerous
Shipping out to fort Jackson tomorrow at 17 yrs old wish me luck man!!
July 6th, Fort Jackson. 17C. I’m beyond excited!
Ayyye that's awesome congrats! What were the questions on the ICTL like for you? Was it hard? What topics/questions were there?
Visionary Lex I did two years of college in Computer Science but the ICTL was still moderately hard. It brushed over like what type of wiring is used for internet, the different between WiFi and LAN and such, and other basic computer questions like how to open task manager. Some of the questions were even lines of code that would be used to stop a hacker which was pretty hard. Just know LAN, WLAN, and WAN as those popped up a bunch on it. You only need a 60 to pass and I scored a 69. If you have any more questions let me know!
I’m going off to Fort Jackson June 16th. I’m excited and nervous at the same time.
Going to Jackson next Tuesday 😔
Well, tomorrow is the day for me😄
Im shipping on the first of June to FJ, really nervous and excited!
FJ as in Fort Jackson? If so I'm going there the week after you. Good luck either way
Why is there no "hydration formation?" I miss watching PVTs emptying either air or soaking themselves because they didnt drink enough water.
My basic training DS said that they don’t do that because a “corrective training” for that is to have you fill up your canteen, chug all the water and if they see a drop of water fall out they’ll make you do it again. This will cause some to vomit, and if you vomit that means you just became dehydrated so they’ll make you do it again. But the army started to realize that there is such a thing as water positioning. So you can become sick from drinking too much water, or not enough water. So now they make you track how much water you drink with beads on 550 cord (I can’t remember the name of it). And I’m not sure how true this is but that’s what I’ve heard.
Nice
Going off to fort Jackson in a couple of days. Wish me luck!
Goodluck. You’re going to need it
Going to Fort Jackson this Sunday.
I’ll be there next Wednesday! (3rd)
Interesting
PFC Harmon, went through basic training at Benning last year (Feb-April) and I can tell you yes all of these are facts. Hydrate hydrate hydrate, your DS is going to get on your nerves constantly yelling (drink water) but it’s for your own good. Stay positive, stay strong and you’ll be fine. Any letters you receive from family, keep them to read over when you have the free time they help keep you sane. Good luck to all new recruits and welcome to the Army family! Hooah!
Shipping to Fort Benning for infantry training on Monday.
Don’t be negligent and accidentally discharge in that tag chaser. You'll end up with a dependa.
When I was in basic training I always tell myself and the other trainees “Everything is great” just crank up the positive vibes and go with the flow
Talking to a recruiter through text, talking to him more tomorrow can't wait to start the process🙌
Going in next month with option 40 wish me bad luck
Heading to Fort Sill Monday!! Lord help me🙏
Im at the airport waiting for my flight to Fort Leonard Wood for Basic Training and Fort Sill for AIT...13B💯
I ship to Fort Jackson this Sunday(May, 31) as a 15t
I just got to AIT. 194 days at basic training because of a Combatives injury and COVID19.
Damn bro thats fucking crazy. I barely could stand the 12 weeks
He matures every video
Expected a mention of live grenade toss. 2nd: I went through Ft. Benning in 1985 and got 100 salt tablets through amnesty and had them throughout OSUT. Great save for the future!
Shipping out June 22 to Fort Benning as a 19D
You should do a video talking about what happens if you don’t join the military after rotc if you didn’t use a scholarship
damn his vids make me nervous to go to basic and AIT
Well im on my way to meps right now. Then fort Jackson to start my basic training. Lowkey nervous
Leaving for fort Jackson tomorrow. I'll tell you how it went when I get back. If you are curious
Currently at reception. It's different than what I thought. It's like a smaller base and the drill Sargeants are somewhat nice but can be firm and strict. Depending on where you go you are allowed to use your phones in the bay. Here they teach you basic military skills and give your army acu's and PT's, boots and or shoes, as well as camel backs and dog tags. It's mostly standing in formation and studying your soldier's Creed, general orders and all that good stuff. People say it's boring but most of the people in my bay are cool with each other and it's kinda fun here. Overall it's not a bad experience at reception except for the first day. I'll reply again after basic and then ait
Shipping out to Fort Jackson July 14th! 25B
I thought you might be interested that my son left out on Wednesday for BCT at Ft. Benning. .Apparently everyone at MEPS was shipping to Ft. Jackson so they messed up my sons itinerary and sent him to Ft. Jackson instead! Once he clears his Covid test they’re going to bus him down to Benning.
Wow you posted this perfectly I'm actually on my way to fort Jackson for basic training rn 😂
@Mason Meinke-Horn thank you

For, I stayed the night at the hotel, then they bounce you around with paperwork and check that your medical, legal, etc. hast changed since the last time you were there. Then you wait around more, go to the airport and eat, and then go to reception which im on the bus for now
I’m at the hotel shipping off tomorrow
Anyone leave July 13th for Benning?
The thing that worried Me the most was falling off the Repel Tower.
Shipping in 19 days wish me luck!
The Drill Sergeants 🤣
In terms of hydration, on a hot day, your canteen should be full when you start, and it should be empty from you drinking water by the time mid day comes.
Sucks when you are loading your gun and you accidentally put the round in the wrong way and it gets jammed. I did that my first Time and wasn’t looking what way I was going and had to take apart the whole thing
lol
Anyone leaving June 15th for fort Leonard wood?
Heyyy Matt ward is was wondering will I get to take my car to AIT I’m going to fort Huachuca as a 35F>>>
I hurt my foot in fort benning and come to find out I have a bone spur. Do you know what they might do to me cause I have been to physical therapy yet.
Heat casualties. That is most likely going to be what takes someone out.
