Be disciplined and man up to your mistakes at basic. At reception you'll probably spend 2 weeks there, study and do basic exercise in the bay. Edit: for rifle marksmanship, if it not the 50m target never aim at the target. Always shoot under the target.

Question: If you go in Reserve, but while going through BCT & AIT, you decided to go Active; how would that process go? Would you have to stay Reserve for a certain amount of time before you can request to be Active?
it used to be you had to do 20 years to retire, or less under special circumstances (i.e. service-connected medical issues or if the army was shrinking), but for a few years now they've phased out the old school pension plan and you basically have a 401k type deal that gives better returns the longer you stay in, but you don't have to stay in for a set amount of time to qualify. it's kind of hard to explain and I'm not 100% on the numbers but that's the premise also, 11x is just a placeholder MOS for infantry recruits. When you get to Benning, depending on what OSUT company you're assigned to (pretty much random) you'll be chosen to be either a Bravo which is rifleman, or a C which is mortars. About 5/6 people will get Bravo. The training is the same except those chosen to be Charlies get an extra few weeks of mortar training

@@jameswhitfield6220 I definitely read up on the standards so I'm familiar with all of that, I'm just curious how the people who have done it feel about it. I watched an old video Matt put out and he was unhappy with the change, so I was just wondering if that changed after actually doing it.
I have taken it twice now and administered it more than I can remember. It is a better measurement of your fitness and it does help to promote fitness aside from being a tall skinny person that can run fast. That said it takes forever to set up and I still haven't figured out why the army has a fetish for two miles
Love your vids........ but like leave some things to the imagination.....like work out before going........ embrace the suck....... everyone’s experience is different and you will have as much pt as your specific ds will want you tooooo, u will have no control whatsoever.
When COVID 19 is wiped out. BCT is always changing though. The Army has to keep up with Political, Societal, and Scientific changes. For Instance, Scientifically: the change to the ACFT from the APFT. Now the focus is on WHAT you can do rather than Specific Training for a test that has been the main way to get ahead. You can pass the APFT with a 300, but you can't carry a 180 pound buddy with all your gear and all their gear 100 meters. Something smells here. So now they changed the test, and the training regimen to reflect the need to change.
@@abuddyofmine2524 Yes. But that started with COVID. I honestly think that they had someone watching how the lack of a Shark Attack affected the recruits. Whatever they saw was analyzed, and they decided to give a reason for dropping it altogether. Science.
whatever you sign for... then is up to you, 8, 10, 12, 20, 23, 30 years or more... depends on how much you enjoy being in the ARMY, and of course if you behave and don't do anything stupid. Sorry I have another question Do you have to cut your hair in the army if you do what if your religion rules say that you can't cut your hair? My religion is a Sikh
Matt I went to a recruiter today and they said that I can become a commissioned officer after 16 years of being enlisted and I was wondering if that is true? I don’t think it’s true but I can be stand corrected if anyone knows the answer.
you need a 4 year degree and there are age and time in service limits that occasionally change... last I looked you couldn't be in for more than 6 years to get commissioned if you are enlisted and go to OCS. for a while it was 10 years. maybe it changed again, though
Especially the "PRT" that's been around since the late 2000's. I've heard lots of people say that it is for "sustainment" rather than actually improving your physical fitness (though some people may do more running during PT than on their own. I certainly do). I think Army organized group PT and especially with the "PRT" stuff is more for group cohesion and for sergeants and E4 promotables to show they can lead troops, rather than actually doing physical fitness.
There’s no “average”. It varies by cadre member (some of mine preferred the air squat or prone row hold). The least I’ve had to do is 5 (which is really 10 push-ups with the way they count). Most often it was 20-30 (40-60), sometimes they’d count to 50-60 or make you hold the positions for a ridiculous amount of time if they were really pissed off. Nobody could hold it, but if you push yourself you’ll definitely get better.
@@fred-d-boss In that case, you should focus more on getting a score on the PT test. The DS are going to wear everyone down regardless of fitness level.

I would not be surprised if they added something specific to work on that hanging knee raise that fails 70% of females and 30% of males in the ACFT.
Its called a legtuck, and they're ridiculously easy
@@jonathangraham5812 Leg tucks might be easy for you, and harder for someone else. I had a buddy in AIT who ran 10 minute 2 milers but could barely pass the Push Ups. Similarly, I had no problem with Sit ups, but I really had to work on the run.
@@mr.k.i.s.s7496 .....You litterly have to perform 1 legtuck assuming your not a combat mos. 6 if you are combat and need to meet black standard.
Jonathan Graham wait it’s seriously just one??
@@basedchris8784 Yes, however if you're an 11b,11c,mp,19k,19d, or any combat mos i didn't list, you must meet black standard. My cycle was one of the first in the 22week infantry osut to conduct the acft. I saw people not able to perform pushups and situps, but smoke everything on the acft

What does the 35 series do
Fort benning. November 3rd. 19k. Running a few miles daily and doing about 100-200 push ups and sit ups each a day. Any advice lmk

It takes about 6 months to a year you talk to your reserve unit immediately to get the paperwork started
The best way to go about it would be to have your contract changed before you go since you aren't obligated until you actually swear in and ship out.
My recruiter told me you gotta stay 6 years on reserve before changing but that seems long

What’s the difference between 11b and 11x also if you do 10 years army 10 years navy can you retire
I think 11x is like infantry candidate or something like that and b is infantryman because you can also go 11c morter
it used to be you had to do 20 years to retire, or less under special circumstances (i.e. service-connected medical issues or if the army was shrinking), but for a few years now they've phased out the old school pension plan and you basically have a 401k type deal that gives better returns the longer you stay in, but you don't have to stay in for a set amount of time to qualify. it's kind of hard to explain and I'm not 100% on the numbers but that's the premise
also, 11x is just a placeholder MOS for infantry recruits.

Hey Matt, I'm curious if you've taken the ACFT and if so what your thoughts?
most people say its easier than the aft, but harder to max out
The standards are specific to your MOS. No age or gender standards. I was in one of the units that tested it. Doing PRT won't help. You need to hit the gym.
@@jameswhitfield6220 I definitely read up on the standards so I'm familiar with all of that, I'm just curious how the people who have done it feel about it. I watched an old video Matt put out and he was unhappy with the change, so I was just wondering if that changed after actually doing it.
I did four just graduated from AIt 20200918
I have taken it twice now and administered it more than I can remember. It is a better measurement of your fitness and it does help to promote fitness aside from being a tall skinny person that can run fast. That said it takes forever to set up and I still haven't figured out why the army has a fetish for two miles
People go to the gym for 3 hours a day?
So why is nava trying to charge for this
Wooooooop
Love your vids........ but like leave some things to the imagination.....like work out before going........ embrace the suck....... everyone’s experience is different and you will have as much pt as your specific ds will want you tooooo, u will have no control whatsoever.
When will basic be back to normal
When COVID 19 is wiped out. BCT is always changing though. The Army has to keep up with Political, Societal, and Scientific changes. For Instance, Scientifically: the change to the ACFT from the APFT. Now the focus is on WHAT you can do rather than Specific Training for a test that has been the main way to get ahead. You can pass the APFT with a 300, but you can't carry a 180 pound buddy with all your gear and all their gear 100 meters. Something smells here. So now they changed the test, and the training regimen to reflect the need to change.
Mr. K.I.S.S and did you see that they got rid of the shark attack because they want recruits to have a relationship with the leaders
@@abuddyofmine2524 Yes. But that started with COVID. I honestly think that they had someone watching how the lack of a Shark Attack affected the recruits. Whatever they saw was analyzed, and they decided to give a reason for dropping it altogether. Science.
Mr. K.I.S.S well i think the army basic is getting to easy
I have a question
How long can you serve in the army?
20 years max
@@jaded1818 oh ok thanks
whatever you sign for... then is up to you, 8, 10, 12, 20, 23, 30 years or more... depends on how much you enjoy being in the ARMY, and of course if you behave and don't do anything stupid. I did 4 years of active duty, 2 years active reserve(AGR), and 1 year of Florida National Guard(which I hated). Active duty is more fun than Nat'l Guard, that's for sure. Biggest mistake of my life was getting out, I loved the Military life(ARMY)... still regretting getting out 'til this day.
@@jaded1818 wrong! you can serve in the army as long as you want, if you don't act stupid and get in trouble of course.
All of these numbers are incorrect. The Max age you may be is 62. Now that being said if you are not promotable you may be discharged after a given period of time. The QMP is different for officers and enlisted

you need a 4 year degree and there are age and time in service limits that occasionally change... last I looked you couldn't be in for more than 6 years to get commissioned if you are enlisted and go to OCS. for a while it was 10 years. maybe it changed again, though

Army pt in general is garbage, does nothing for you,my whole time in the army working out on my own did me better than any pt ever did
Especially the "PRT" that's been around since the late 2000's.
There's nothing you can do to prepare.
First
but you didnt like >: |

On average how many push-ups per smoking session?
There is no average number. It's whenever the DS want's to stop.
@@Llamacorn87 bruh
I ask because I'm talking to a recruiter(I'm 100% joining) and just wanted to prepare. I'm 17
@@fred-d-boss In that case, you should focus more on getting a score on the PT test. The DS are going to wear everyone down regardless of fitness level.
