The product we are using: ***Asphalt Emulsion***
What is an asphalt emulsion?
Asphalt emulsion is a combination of three basic ingredients, asphalt, water, and small amount of an emulsifying agent. In the same process, these components are introduced into a mechanism known as a colloid mill, which shears the asphalt into tiny droplets. The emulsifier, which is a surface-active agent, keeps the asphalt droplets in a stable suspension and controls the breaking time. The result is a liquid product with a consistency ranging from that of milk to heavy cream, which can be used in cold processes for road construction and maintenance.
Why use asphalt emulsions?
Asphalt emulsion does not require a petroleum solvent to make it liquid and in most cases asphalt emulsions can be used without additional heat. Both of these factors contribute to energy savings. Additionally, asphalt emulsions offer great flexibility in their application since they offer the end-user a great variety of characteristics not found in other paving and maintenance materials. Asphalt emulsions are environmentally friendly. There are little or no hydrocarbon emissions created with their use.

What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

Painting anything black these days is incredibly dumb with how hot its been starting to get.
Fall is right around the corner bro relax
@@slickmeleon69 winter is just around the corner bro relax, it's not like it'll ever be hot again
Funny how it tends to get hot in the summer time…
Just like every summer it gets hot kinda what it does.
@@trainnerd3029 Funny how painting roof tops and highways black actually contributes to heat creation. Why do you think you can't put solar towers close to population centers genius.
I remember asking my dad why we didnt seal the driveway ourselves, he explained that between the sealant and new pairs of shoes, it was almost the same price and we would probably just fuck it up anyways.
It’s like cutting your own hair.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE I cut my own hair I'm not too bad lol
It’s not concrete 😉
We’re sealing ASPHALT, not concrete.

Soo do I 🤟
Sealing it in black with retain heat. I hope it doesn’t get too hot there.
“I see a grey driveway and I want it painted black”
This is seal coating. Not paint. It protects the driveway
Don't worry big dawg. Your reference might have gone over some heads but not mine!
When I see a red door, I want it painted black too.

It really does piss me off when they ignore the fact that it needs to be sealed especially when you can see that it’s been done before and faded away
From someone who's a neat freak. Absolutely beautiful!
I agree, so satisfying to watch, especially when they did the last part 😍
I got you 😎
if someone faints on this asphalt in like 110°F heat they’re DEAD lmao
Ive never lost a man 🦾
That’s why you should always pay a safety person to watch your driveway year round 24 hours a day in case this happens
A lot of these know it alls don’t understand that pavement needs to be seal coated to expand its life. Some people want to save their driveways rather than paying at least 10k to get a new one.
I try to to tell them
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Yes this... My husband's parents bought the house that we all are currently living in about a decade ago and the driveway wasn't in a good condition because the sealant was never used.
We couldn't do it either because we need to fix it first which will probably take more 10k easily.
People need to calm down and actually understand the reason why sealants are used.
Man, you make it look so easy. You do a great job. Love your work.
Hey Dolores, thanks for watching!
Makes sense
....... I appreciate you sharing
Why does the end near the sidewalk look under covered compared to higher up? Got too cold, bad angle?
It’s not under covered, it indeed only looks that way. if you look closely you can see it’s just the angle and you can see parts of the seal shimmering, because the divots in the driveway that the seal has covered reflect to the lens. It gets less and less further back you look because the angle to the camera is off, so it’s not shining on it. When the seal coat is wet and fresh it’s extra shiny and reflective, so that definitely adds to it.
Similar to staining a wood floor can't stop till finished. Cept y'all fighting the sun so props where it's due
Why not do it at 2 or 3am? Unless it's too dark out. How about ready to start just before dawn?
I applied more asphalt sealer between 73' and 76' than I care to remember and probably twice as much doing chip and seal jobs. Hot asphalt got the scars from that molten concoction.
I love the way you are informative in your videos and you answer the questions of your customers.

Hi
Cool of you to offer tips and advice!
Thanks. I do my best.
It is an absolute grind. You set a solid pace you can maintain start to finish. Watched many a person jump to a fast pace and burn themselves out 4-5hrs in. They typically dont come back to work the next day. You just get in a groove and grind on. Breakes are usually taken with a squeegee in hand as you spread material. Arent going to see many a vrew that has done this for awhile stopping work and taking their 10 min every 2 hrs, lunch is either taken when you are between steps or you simply eat on the run.
Totally agree! I don't eat until I get home and breaks are taken in the truck, driving between jobs. 💪
Do before and afters of the driveways please. Nice work
👍
Your video's are so satisfying
Finally the caution tape the correct way! that’s by far the most satisfying part 😂
😂
So satisfying to watch, especially the lineup at the end

Those asphalt drives last a while when they’re cared for. My dad and I used to seal our driveway every year and it stayed pretty good for 15 years. And it looks badass.
My husband was a black topper he did sealcoat and yes you have to go with the grade and you have to work quick and it's best to do it in the early morning
💯
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE is that work you’re doing in this video seal the cracks in the driveway and does it only work for asphalt it you can’t do that for concrete right?
@aaronreid1183atyahoocom asphalt only
You did a nice job. And sooooo satisfying to watch 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the finishing clip ✌🏼
Just like painting a wall, always keep a wet edge.
It's so perty!!! 😍 That was very satisfying
Thanks for visiting our channel, Laura 🌹
What do you do when there are dips in the drive way from like a flower pot sitting on it? How do you level it off before sealing?
if its deep enough for cold-patch asphalt we will use that, but usually those impressions aren't deep enough to hold and kind of material. Just leave some EXTRA sealer on our final pass with the brush.
Epoxy filler
One way to counter the heat, is to spray a light coat of water on the asphalt before the sealer, helps it adhesive to the left over dirt better as well.
Ye old “fog” method.
Never saw something like that before in the Netherlands. It looks nice ❤️ great job

Incredible, it made the property look much newer
And it also provides a nice bit of armor to the driveway
I love that up North can't do that in Florida too hot you have to use pavers very expensive
I believe it. You probably only have a few hours to work in the early morning.
This is so satisfying!

finishing in one direction, if your right handed then that side of broom is more worn than the left so the finish broom needs to start right to left for every pass and then in 3 years you still wont have any lines showing even after it wears. you notice the contrast when the left side of broom is less worn and you finish line back and forth. i have shown my crew this and waited years and everytime the one we did it my way always looks uniform and the back and forth always shows lines every16 inch lines
Great work guys
Thank you. We have plenty more! 😊

Same with painting, you only do as many boards as you can keep wet across the house
Similar to concreting driveways once you start you can't stop, we had this one job it was 35-38c and the concrete started setting within 40 minutes and we had 32m² to do ( it was only me and my dad there) we got it done just in time but it involved adding extra water and extra elbow Greece because it was pretty much solid lmao, and then 12 hours later it was -4c and almost froze over which can also destroy the concrete, but once again it was fine after adding insulation and covering
yes, 💯
I Love love your video’s and 🎉😊
Thank you

Very satisfying to watch

These guys are good
Very satisfying.
Splatoon Roller mains be like
Can you make a video with just music like famous songs or somthing I think that would be cool
How do I remove it if I have gotten it on the house or to far past edge of road driveway meet point??
Water if it’s still wet. Goof-Off works if it’s dry. Or you can use a pressure washer.
So satisfying
Nice 👏
Satisfying af
The street pavers in my city coulda used this when doing the streets in my neighborhood, it was way too hot and there's tire lines and loose bits all over from people driving too fast and the road not actually being okay to drive on yet
Did this in St. Louis absolutely loved it
It can be the best job sometimes.
Gotta love slippery ground
how so?
This is water based sealer, only petroleum based sealer will leave the asphalt slippery. If you add sand to the sealer also it will actually create more traction than before which this guy is probably the most professional sealcoater I’ve ever seen even more than myself, so I would like to assume he uses sand in his sealer
By petroleum based I mean like Gilsonite btw
Adding sand to the mix #shorts

May God bless you all who's ever reading this 🙏💖❤️
DOPE i didnt know that
If I had a driveway to do on a hot day especially if there was a turn around spot where there was a chance of it drying too quick on me I would mist the driveway with water and I would leave a wet bead of sealer where I had to stop
How satisfying
THANKS 🙂😎👍
You bet!
I did mine and I don't care that it has any streaks it just shows it's very thick I use a brush squeegee just doesn't fill up all the nooks and crannies good enough a squeeze just doesn't fill up I use a thin pushroom type type for blacktop and it worked well it definitely pushes everything down inside every little crack so you get a good seal
brushes are best
Interesting info. On an aside I know someone who used one of the new water based sealants as a DIY. A year later it looks like it was never sealed.
Theres a lot of factors that go into this like; was the sealer mixed properly before it was used, was the driveway clean enough to seal, how was the sealer applied....
Beautiful
Thank you
If they`ve been in the navy, they can call it a "navyseal"
Looks nice
Thanks
1. Seal Early before the Heat of the day.
2. The Mix isn’t 💯
3. If spraying, there could be a partially clogged Tip.
4. Too much (water) if it’s a Coal Tar base.
There are a number of Factors, I wouldn’t necessarily call it “Bad work”because it does happen at times, and it’s a relatively easy Fix.
This is my 22nd year in the business, and I cannot Purchase Coal Tar Anywhere in Chicagoland or Northern Illinois this Season.
💯
Is their anyway to practice seal coating? I'm hoping to do it as a side hustle
You don’t need to do it as fast as possible. Just make sure you do it between 70 and 85° out and a nice clear day. I did mine over the course of 2 days with a day in the middle of not sealing. Dried and looks good. Use the same sealer for he entire driveway, each company or variety of sealer can use a different amount of carbon black.
Only true for a DIY.
Full respect to anyone who works with tar and that stuff, the smell makes me chuck instantly
We're using AE not tar.
That's awesome
Looks like fun
Depends on how porous the substrate is!!! 👀👀👀
I didn’t get the question why did it dry like that ?! In this vid it looks great
It’s a question a viewer had from their friends driveway that was sealed.
Judging by the shadows 11:00am is not so early.
Looks good
Thanks Sue
Sure does look nice!
It's more about humidity than heat. Also no rain for 2-3 days and there's a difference between "drying" (same day) and curing (48-72 hours, sometimes longer depending on humidity).
Good job guy's
Thanks, Gabi
Nice!!
Thanks!
