so kwing any opinion on justice league dark getting sequel because i really do want a sequel to this movie because that would be awesome and badass in my opinion
The reason why Batman works in this film, besides the fact to sell more copies, it's because he is the perfect periferal character to introduce these characters that not everyone knows about. Batman is used as the eyes of the audience, and him being human and normal compared to these paranormal beings
My issue with this movie was how they did Constantine. John isn't OP. John wins his battles through luck, wits, and somehow making amateur magic one of his biggest winning points. He's unpredictable and wins his battles with heavy consequences. (in this case; Swamp Thing's death) Here, they make him out as one of the most powerful magic users ever (which is more or less true, but he doesn't just shoot out magic thunderbolts of fireballs) I appreciate Matt Ryan voicing him again. He did great as John in the live action series and this, but the character was just all off for me, and perfectly represents everything I don't like about new 52 Constantine.
You cleary haven't read the comics dude he is insanely op he legit boxes with characters like swamp thing not only is his magic op but he does throw hands pretty consistently not to mention his luck based hax don't speak on characters you dont know or only know one version of
I'm not a fan of John Constantine using magic 24/7. As a fan of hellblazer I liked it better when he outwits the enemy rather than heavily rely on Magic.
LanceA magic was more just a bonus to his character he isn't even that good at it not that he's terrible just lacking compared to others like zatana and trigon just his personality is what we like
He does both dummy thats like a batman fan saying they preferred it when he killed people which was how he acted in his original run thats dumb modern John not only put plays his opponents but he also has luck based abilities that allow him to fight with higher tier characters
Just when we thought DC would keep it's dark story boards out of animated features they make this. I love it! I was nervous that TTG would be the closest to DC animated we would get..
laz kar It was better than I thought. At least it wasn't just another Batman film with occasional JL character spotlights. At least it didn't have TTG humor.
9:24 you ain't much into Constantine are you ? he doesn't give the slightest F if its useful to his goals. Yes he may feel guilty about using people but he couldn't give two hoots about it.
I agree with what you said about Batman and Jason Blood/Etrigan! Jason isn't the immortal Camelot knight I'm used to and Batman was really unnecessary. But I don't really agree with your issue with how the Swamp Thing was portrayed. (spoiler alert) He's not dead. By ripping out the corpse, Destiny showed Swamp Thing that Swamp Thing is not Alex Holland but a plant entity that has Holland's memories. And then Swamp Thing left the battle to sort out his existentialist funk. Anyways, good job on the video!
I disagree with your segment on Etrigan. I thought he was great. Also your comparison "fused together DBZ style" is 100% wrong, and actually makes no sense whatsoever, as they are 2 separate entities that can't exist at the same time and in DBZ they are clearly morphed into 1 new being....
Swamp Thing's Death really pissed me the hell off. I can't believe they'd just.....kill him, so easily, like wtf DCAU? What is that? The Judas contract is screwed as well. They'll have to resort to Rebirth soon because I'm sick and tired of this new 52 GARBAGE. Having some movies based off of rebirth would be brilliant.
It's better to show them less, it makes moments where they come out more meaningful. It's just the same as lightsabers, they were cool in the original series because they were only used on occasion but in the prequels, they whip it out every 10 minutes making them common and boring.
Yeah I am a huge fan of batman but I was mad that they had to put batman in this movie and when the swamp thing happened I was pissed off and they had to make batman do the final blow I was like come on D.C. but i would give the movie a 6/10
Another DC Animated movie has bitten the dust. I agree with you though killing off Jason Blood and Swamp Thing was such a terrible thing to do, I got bored at some parts as well but it was cool to see some characters have some cool moments but other than that, this movie is really meh, still enjoy the Pre 52 movies better than these. And yes Batman had no place in this movie, he was only in it so the movie could sell, the day DC decides to stop using Batman as a marketing icon will make me happy
Personally in my opinion i am just happy to that batman wasn't the main character in this movie and it was a justice league dark movie first and for most but i do agree that Batman really didn't need to be in this movie
Constantine says that Magic users, use their Energy for magic When a magic user over exerts their energy into magic, they faint or even go into a temporary comatose stage if drained of energy
i think the DC animation movies are good i see them as a new universe like an Earth 3 or Earth Animation, we dont know what they have planned just enjoy the movies and see what they have planned
How has it been fumbling? They've actually been pretty good. Batman vs Robin has been the weakest one so far, for me. But none of them have been "bad" by any means.
Alex G. so then let me guess you rather watch Dragon ball the live action movie or shaymalan last air bender movie because it's totally different from the original and not faithful to the akira or Nickelodeon work because butt hurt fans complained about how garbage it was because of it. dude they have a source material for a reason and because dc isn't following that original material and doing what ever they want you get garbage movies like these ones
While I think you are right about the undercutting of Swamp thing, I disagree about Etrigan and Jason Blood as what they did isn't necessarily bad, just different and for what they were going for they did well.
Batman is there is ask the others to join the Justice League at the end. If none of the Justice League members are along for the ride, why would they ask the magic users to join if they didn't know what they did? So, a JL member had to be there, Batman would get respect from the others, while not overshadowing them with his power.
Hope they redo the Judas contract after the movie that is coming, everything I have seen tells me they won't stick to the source material at all, as a fan of the comic book and someone who has been waiting that movie is disappointing that they are grabbing a great DC story and changing it into a universe that's trying to appeal only to Batman and Damian Wayne fans (which are characters that have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORYLINE AT ALL) really disappointing hope in the future DC reconsiders to remake it more like the comic or atleast make a new teen titans TV show and readapt that story there. Hell we have young justice coming I would prefer to see that storyline done in that universe than in this Batman/Damian Bias universe.
The saddest part is, the episodes of Justice League Action that involved the JLD members, which I swear became so frequent that the only way they make sense in existing is solely to advertise this movie, are better stories than this.
I too wanted to see more of swamp thing but considering it's his first movie i'm happy with what we saw to call it justice league dark was odd because it did not involve the team except for a few scenes like justice league vs teen titans the only time it be came the league vs titans was when they were possessed they would have to be possessed for them to fight because to fight them head on would be crazy.
Im just saying matt should have stuck to the live action pertrail because I think that was better. I will never get over the fact they cancelled that and then just throw John in the over arrow line of shows like its going out of style. reason i say that is he is superposed to be in the nexts season of legends of tomorrow
Confession: I liked the Killing Joke Animated Movie. The second half was perfectly adapted and the love story between Babs and Bruce worked for me since I never really saw her as a daughter figure. He was against her becoming Batgirl at first(at least in the Animated Series) and she's always been her own vigilante that helps out. Overall I thought it was a good movie.
I think justice league dark is an OK Film. But one of the things that I did like about this film was the inclusion of swamp thing you know he was subpar in his per trail I thought he died too easily and was also disappointed that Zatanna or Constantine show more emotion at something's death. I also felt like dead man and Etrigan , Swamp thing are underutilized. The character that I would add Dr. fate. The last thing I'll say is I preferred JLA versus teen titans over this film now I hope they don't screw up teen titans Judas contract. And then after that we got gods and monsters to look forward to. I too also hope that they will do rebirth animated movies later on.
Pretty hilarious that DC hit the mature mark way way way back in the Bruce Timm Batman days and the Red Hood, Year One.....Crisis On Two Earth....Frontier days. But every single film based around New 52 is a load of crap. Teen Titans was some what enjoyable but that's about it.
It's not the fact these are New 52 Based. It's just the team behind these movies don't have the same spark previous movies did. Throne of Atlantis for one was only bad because it mixed up an origin story and a storyline that massively depended on Arthur already being established.
Agent Ghost I think the only reason it really got the R rating was the woman running down an entire street full of people, a man holding a shotgun to his family, and the baby being thrown off the roof
While I would like to see Rebirth movies, how would that work? Right now DC only has Judas Contract and a Batman/Harley film left. Currently (as far as I know, I've fallen behind) Rebirth doesn't have quite enough material to make any sort of film from it. The one-shot is just a one-shot and the Batman and Flash "The Button" crossover hasn't occurred yet. Top that off with what should or shouldn't get movies and the road to Rebirth. Gonna be honest halfway through writing this comment I confused myself about timelines and movies. On second thought just start over, five minute Rebirth events prologue then movie.
I liked this movie, I consider all of the Animated DC movies as guilty pleasures. The one thing that bothered me most was that it was promo'ed as a Justice League/Batman movie, when it's clearly just a Constantine movie. JL had virtually no screen time and Batman's primary purpose was to tie Constantine's name to JL for the sake of sales.
Alright so is this universe the same universe with like Batman v Robin series? Justice League v Teen Titans? And the new one with like Teen Titans v Deathstroke?
I like Black Orchid new look, but she DID SHIT in the movie. She is like the worse version of Alfred. Got taken out nothing more than a fly. Swampthing is the true meaning of shoehorn for the movie, appear last minutes and barely do anything that benefit the team.
Dude, batman didn't doubt that magic exists, he just thought the league was jumping to conclusions about it being magic based on little evidence, since he has a large amount of experience dealing with the criminally insane.
its so weird because i love the animation style theyre doing but i completely agree about the storylines and character development. for some reason they just cant get bot right at the same time??
Ikr the title is called Justice league "DARK" not batman featuring justice league dark tho I do like that there's another justice league team that revolves around the supernatural and mystical themes instead of batman they could just added dr fate in the team in stead they added batman and never letting the team stand on it's own
And I didn't even think this even needs the R rating, the swearing was as minimal as a comic book PG-13 movie nowadays. The demons were kinda creepy and some disturbing scenes cause of course supernatural. I dunno, unlike Killing Joke this could have been slapped PG-13 and Id buy it. Maybe Im missing the blood/gore, I didn't see anything too disturbing, I can recall a women going into a fireplace and we see her slightly burning away...but thats it.
I completely agree with your review what they did with Swamp Thing was a travesty New 52 did not last in the comics and I pray it doesn't last any longer in the animated universe. Besides a movie where Batman is the comic relief is just wrong
I think you misunderstood Batman's statement. He didn't say he doesn't believe in magic. He only said that insane people aren't a rare thing; no need to jump to conclusion and say that magic is involved. It's a dark statement, part of his character, but he's not denying the existence of magic. other points...yeah, you got them right :( Overall, I enjoyed the movie, but I'm probably not going to watch it a second time
When I saw 0:02 in the movie I like was holy shit he's gunna say "I'm Batman". Then I was like damn it! Anyways, my favorite part was when the magic girl saves Batman from superman. You could tell batman was thinking "holyshiyholyshiyholyshit" as he slowly moved closer to the girl. LOL superman was gunna rock his head off.
I still liked Killing Joke better. This time, I even managed to sleep through some parts. The final fight remains in my memory as just some flashes, because I kept involuntarily shutting my eyes at some sequences and taking naps. Also, if they are gonna show Deadman's origin, they should at least dedicate some time to giving the viewers some background for all characters, other than trying to be funny with that Zatanna/Constantine non-relationship. This was purely fanservice. It did nothing to help uninformed viewers care about the characters. Ughh
it was pretty much boring for an animated dc new 52 movie, because i liked the son of batman, batman vs robin, justice league war, and batman bad blood, and i still think they can can use the death of the family story arc to bring a good, terryfing and overall R-rated dc animated movie, just don't let Zack to touch it, pls
Whoa, I though it was awesome! I didn't know about some of the characters (Etrigan, Deadman, Richie) but I think they are introduced very well for newcomers like me. my only gripe is the art style. It just looks very digital. ugh! 8/10 for me.
I actually really liked Batman in this movie. The action was amazing, sometimes the animation hiccuped. I also loved Etrigan. I felt really sorry for Swamp Thing fans during the final act.
The only good Rated-R DC film EVER was Under the Red Hood. Also, they seem to have ripped off the premise for an episode of Batman Beyond as the driving crisis. Why can't they just be creative and original or just hire Paul Dini, already? Well voiced and reasoned review, regardless, KWing.
"This one has cheated us many times!! It is VEXING!!"
Batman: "Boo!"
Me: Rolling on the floor laughing.
Chris Sanderson I have a butler
Chris Sanderson Literally ONLY Batman can get away with saying "Boo!" to a Reaper Spirit!
Let's see if We can get this video to 1,500 Likes. Helps out a Ton and I can work on more Reviews. Thanks for watching =D
kNIGHTWING01 can you please do lore on Riddler, Scarecrow and Pyg. Love your content from Australia
kNIGHTWING01 i love you
kNIGHTWING01 5/10 is right about where the film is at for me too.
well batman got a new sidekick in movie LOL they just keep getting younger
so kwing any opinion on justice league dark getting sequel because i really do want a sequel to this movie because that would be awesome and badass in my opinion
Batman doesn't believe in magic but believes in aliens and people who can breath underwater. LOL
The reason why Batman works in this film, besides the fact to sell more copies, it's because he is the perfect periferal character to introduce these characters that not everyone knows about. Batman is used as the eyes of the audience, and him being human and normal compared to these paranormal beings
everytime I hear the line I have a butler I can't stop laughing! :-D
That was the best joke, they use it in the promotional material and its obvious why. Its pretty funny coming out of Batman.
Dr Manhattan and Silver Surfer: The Matter Bosses Batman was awesome in Justice League: War. the way he mindfucked Hal was hilarious

Mind you classic Constantine was also about that life so keep his name out of your mouth
I think I fall in love with you every time you do another review Kwing! I love my sarcastic, witty and bluntly honest hubby :D
I DO TO! YOU GUYS BOTH RULE:)
Awwwwww
That's the cutest thing ever.
Awwww that's sweet ;)

I'm not a fan of John Constantine using magic 24/7. As a fan of hellblazer I liked it better when he outwits the enemy rather than heavily rely on Magic.
oOLanceOo Those were good stories. I am so glad I was introduce to him via HellBlazer.
LanceA magic was more just a bonus to his character he isn't even that good at it not that he's terrible just lacking compared to others like zatana and trigon just his personality is what we like
I agree. It's part of what made him so badass.

NascarFanMel141820 the action was so cool
Knock /Da Deathstroke yep thats all that people nowadays only care about.....m

batman = money

I'd love to see Convergence, Superman and his Family, Wally West's Return and I am Suicide.
It's sad that Etrigan and Swamp Thing get more screentime and spotlight in the Justice League Action shorts than they do in a feature length film.
It's better to show them less, it makes moments where they come out more meaningful. It's just the same as lightsabers, they were cool in the original series because they were only used on occasion but in the prequels, they whip it out every 10 minutes making them common and boring.

Constantine says that Magic users, use their Energy for magic
When a magic user over exerts their energy into magic, they faint or even go into a temporary comatose stage if drained of energy
DC ANIMATION HAS BEEN FUMBLING SINCE FLASHPOINT PARADOX! WE NEED A REBIRTH!
YES, so true
i think the DC animation movies are good i see them as a new universe like an Earth 3 or Earth Animation, we dont know what they have planned just enjoy the movies and see what they have planned

The movie also ruined Deadman. He is a annoying person that just flies around and says stupid lines.
I Have A Butler, best line ever also how long til it a meem if not all ready one.
While I think you are right about the undercutting of Swamp thing, I disagree about Etrigan and Jason Blood as what they did isn't necessarily bad, just different and for what they were going for they did well.

It's not like Batman didn't believe in the supernatural, it's just he was skeptical and didn't want to jump the gun and instantly assume it was magic
What bugs me is how batman know zatanna and goes to her to help her find someone but doesn't believe in magic.
swamp thing seems to always get the shaft.
Looking at Nightwing and said It's supposed to be blue. DC your live and animated movies need work.
yea. after Flashpoint the quality of their animated films just dropped.
I blame New 52. It feels like the aura of New 52 pretty much ruins most of DC's stuff.
Al Speid Then let's hope Rebirth reinvigorates the animated movies once they get to it as it did the comics.
I don't think john is an anti hero more chaotic good he just does things that are seen as good just because they'll get in his way later
What the heck do u mean NO WEAKNESSES! Two of them DIE - THREE IF YOU INCLUDE ORCHID- AND THE REST ALL GET BEAT THE heck out of them!
They are by no means "Op" , they are very strong though but plenty of weaknesses are shown
Kwing, I'm surprised you didn't realize that the evil sorcerer was just another version of Doctor Destiny. I didn't get it either...
The character that I would add Dr. fate. i think is a good starter for someone who knows little about DCs magic users. I hope they use more of them.
Would've been cool if after they take out the big baddie, batman ran over to swamp things body saying something like "you did this on purpose"
Yea i was bothered that they just ignored wat happened to swamp thing
Pretty hilarious that DC hit the mature mark way way way back in the Bruce Timm Batman days and the Red Hood, Year One.....Crisis On Two Earth....Frontier days. But every single film based around New 52 is a load of crap. Teen Titans was some what enjoyable but that's about it.
Swamp thing didn't die. He just realised he isn't elec holland and retreated
i love how they got the guy who played constantine in constantine to voice actor constantine
hey knightwing does amber know about robin kill joker one time. when batman was dieed
It's not the fact these are New 52 Based. It's just the team behind these movies don't have the same spark previous movies did.
Throne of Atlantis for one was only bad because it mixed up an origin story and a storyline that massively depended on Arthur already being established.
next movie is teen titans judas contract which is the follow up to justice league dark
black orchid remind me of aya from green lantern the animated series
when they killed off swamp thing I felt I had just gone through a bad break up. I'm a huge fan of swamp thing.
This is rated R didn't knew
I didn't watch yet but I want to know your thoughts
agreed.I totally wouldn't of thought it watching the film. PG-13 at best.
Agent Ghost I think the only reason it really got the R rating was the woman running down an entire street full of people, a man holding a shotgun to his family, and the baby being thrown off the roof
Justin Undead and the lady landing on the concrete block.
Justin Undead Yea, that was dark. Hey, the movie is call Justice League Dark after all. I enjoy it.
While I would like to see Rebirth movies, how would that work? Right now DC only has Judas Contract and a Batman/Harley film left. They missed the chance for a running gag where Batman's "mundane" tools get past the magic wards and binding spells.
Been hoping for a judus contact movie, but under the new 52 continuity not so much, not to mention this world is more like Damien and friends.
DC loves to waste characters lately ...
It's kinda dumb how batman doesn't believe in the "supernatural " stuff .. when hes fighting amongst godlike heroes
Alright so is this universe the same universe with like Batman v Robin series? Justice League v Teen Titans? And the new one with like Teen Titans v Deathstroke?
knightwing you ever going to do a review of Judice contract or are you going to daniel crage it if i asked you to do so
I like Black Orchid new look, but she DID SHIT in the movie. She is like the worse version of Alfred. Got taken out nothing more than a fly. Swampthing is the true meaning of shoehorn for the movie, appear last minutes and barely do anything that benefit the team.
Also he knew Zatanna who does magic I guess he didn't believe in that also
Why wasn't Dr. Fate included? Isn't he a being of magic?
Dude, batman didn't doubt that magic exists, he just thought the league was jumping to conclusions about it being magic based on little evidence, since he has a large amount of experience dealing with the criminally insane.
I think in order to fully enjoy these movies we have to go in with extremely low expectations...and it REALLY shouldn't have to be that way.
oh boy now im more worried for the cinematic version of the movie when they get there
its so weird because i love the animation style theyre doing but i completely agree about the storylines and character development. for some reason they just cant get bot right at the same time??

other points...yeah, you got them right :( Overall, I enjoyed the movie, but I'm probably not going to watch it a second time
1:25 minutes and seconds in and it already sounds pretty *dark*
Make a Top 10 Series. That would be awesome.
They should have replace Batman with Aquaman, he would have been just out of place and it would have made more sense why he was kinda useless.
I'm sorry but what part did dead man give "dark, gritty comedy" I don't remember any of his one liners being morbidly dark.
If you're referring to when he said "Things really went to shit in there" how at all is that dark & grim?
When I saw 0:02 in the movie I like was holy shit he's gunna say "I'm Batman". Then I was like damn it! Anyways, my favorite part was when the magic girl saves Batman from superman. You could tell batman was thinking "holyshiyholyshiyholyshit" as he slowly moved closer to the girl. LOL superman was gunna rock his head off.
Let's hope judas contract isn't this bad
What do you think of Matt Ryan a.k.a John Constantine?
Every time the intro plays, I shake my head to the loud cracks! And every time I here the flash intro I think of this channel.
BTW, batman never disbelieves the existence of magic. He just thinks that magic wasn't the reason people were doing messed up stuff and seeing demons
Isn't dealing with Super Natural Stuff Kind of Batmans thing
Makareno94 and robots
Are you going to review the judas contract?
I still liked Killing Joke better. This time, I even managed to sleep through some parts. The final fight remains in my memory as just some flashes, because I kept involuntarily shutting my eyes at some sequences and taking naps.
Also, if they are gonna show Deadman's origin, they should at least dedicate some time to giving the viewers some background for all characters, other than trying to be funny with that Zatanna/Constantine non-relationship. This was purely fanservice. It did nothing to help uninformed viewers care about the characters. Ughh
Honestly!! i thought we were gonna get another bvs fight!! i would have loved to see that!!
Wait did batman just scare death
will you do judas contract review?
it was pretty much boring for an animated dc new 52 movie, because i liked the son of batman, batman vs robin, justice league war, and batman bad blood, and i still think they can can use the death of the family story arc to bring a good, terryfing and overall R-rated dc animated movie, just don't let Zack to touch it, pls
ur mad at how the most powerful magic users can use a spell and win when if they rlly the most powerful thats how it would be lol
Kinghwing can you tell us of the new batman game is comeing
That would be like Iron Man calling up Spider-Man to fight Thanos without backup
Whoa, I though it was awesome! I didn't know about some of the characters (Etrigan, Deadman, Richie) but I think they are introduced very well for newcomers like me.
my only gripe is the art style. It just looks very digital. ugh! 8/10 for me.
how about a review Teen Titans Judas contract
as far as I am concerned, Constantine was and always will be a vertigo comics work.
Why are you complaining about Batman being in the movie? Any Batman is GOOD Batman as long as its not George Clooney.
I actually really liked Batman in this movie. The action was amazing, sometimes the animation hiccuped. I also loved Etrigan. I felt really sorry for Swamp Thing fans during the final act.
I actually liked this movie but I really want them to start doing DC rebirth story lines.
I have a butler
Also "The new Green Lantern John Stewart"? He's not new.
Blak3 Nikos in the movie he is the second green lantern
Christyan Ghost Rider I know that, I'm just stating he's not a new DC character
He's New to this series of Films. It is his first appearance. But I know HE's not New, new
kNIGHTWING01 Oh ok. Thanks 4 clearing that up
is the teen titans judas contract the next animated movie?
-sigh- yes......
Swampthing didn't die, the director or something said it himself :)
I wish they would animate Constantine solo and put him where he belongs in London
