I grew up watching the Dome Patrol and the bags over the heads. It became a tradition for my momma and me to watch Saints on Sunday together. My wife didn't like it but I wasn't there for my wife, I was there for my mother. One of the hardest things I ever had to do. On Monday September 14, 2009 I received a call. My mother had passed away. The Saints were undefeated when she died and football at that time started to fade away. I lost my football buddy. She the Saints lost the last 3 games of the season my wife said, well at least she didn't get to see them fall at the end of the season. I turned and looked at my wife. She knew I was mad and I simply said, they don't care about the last 3 games. They have clinched home field and the 1st round bye. They will win it all this year. Now this is what I wanted to believe and over so many years of being a Saints fan and an LSU fan, I have learned not to get my hopes up. I wasn't going to tell my wife that though. When Garret Hartley kicked the field goal to win the game, I did something that was crazy. I pulled my cell phone out and tried to call my momma. Then the tears started to roll down my face. I dropped my phone and went outside so that my kids didn't see me fall apart. I grew up in Baton Rouge and I was a 100% Saints fan. When Tracy Porter picked off Brett and turned around and pick 6 Payton Manning in the Superbowl. I always joke and say that I knew the Saints would win it all that year. Not to many people know or remember that it had snowed a little in New Orleans. I would just say that Hell had frozen over. To this day, I still miss my mother and how I wished she could have been sitting next to me when we Won the Superbowl. Now we say say bye to Drew Brees and we have to look forward from here.
