    My dad use to take me to Tulane Stadium to watch the Saints when I was a kid. Unfortunately he passed away in 1986. My son and I have been season tickets holders for the Saints since 1999 when he turned 10. We were able to attend this game that Sunday, my son and I cried in the Dome that night for the joy of the win and the memory of my father. Best game I’ve ever witnessed!!!! Bless you Boys!!!!!!

    As a huge Favre fan, I must say that the Packers fans should thank Favre for saving the worst and most untimely pass of his career for his stint with the Vikings. HOWEVER, it should NEVER have come down to that play. What kind of cement-head coach calls 12 men in the huddle with the Superbowl on the line??? Without that debacle the Vikings could have run it one more time on 3rd down and then tried a long but makeable field goal.

      The RB coach didn't know they had changed the play formation and sent the FB Tahi out. RB coach? Eric "He Should be a Head Coach Already" Bienemy.

    • @hehhehhuhhuh7014
      @hehhehhuhhuh7014 2 года назад

      @@RUclips.Algorithmic.Nonsense Yes, all the coaches were having trouble communicating because it was so loud in the Superdome. But IMO that was no excuse. After the game, Childress openly accepted blame for that blunder during the press conference.
      Also, during the press conference, Favre said that he didn't know exactly how close they were to field goal range. That makes me believe that Favre would have made the same play from five yards closer.

    You can hate on me and I'm ok with it. I have to say this for the understanding of just how much it meant for me. Growing up my momma watched every Saints game and I became a fan. I grew up watching the Dome Patrol and the bags over the heads. It became a tradition for my momma and me to watch Saints on Sunday together. My wife didn't like it but I wasn't there for my wife, I was there for my mother.
    One of the hardest things I ever had to do. On Monday September 14, 2009 I received a call. My mother had passed away. The Saints were undefeated when she died and football at that time started to fade away. I lost my football buddy. She the Saints lost the last 3 games of the season my wife said, well at least she didn't get to see them fall at the end of the season. I turned and looked at my wife. She knew I was mad and I simply said, they don't care about the last 3 games. They have clinched home field and the 1st round bye. They will win it all this year. Now this is what I wanted to believe and over so many years of being a Saints fan and an LSU fan, I have learned not to get my hopes up. I wasn't going to tell my wife that though. When Garret Hartley kicked the field goal to win the game, I did something that was crazy. I pulled my cell phone out and tried to call my momma. Then the tears started to roll down my face. I dropped my phone and went outside so that my kids didn't see me fall apart. I grew up in Baton Rouge and I was a 100% Saints fan. When Tracy Porter picked off Brett and turned around and pick 6 Payton Manning in the Superbowl. I always joke and say that I knew the Saints would win it all that year. Not to many people know or remember that it had snowed a little in New Orleans. I would just say that Hell had frozen over. To this day, I still miss my mother and how I wished she could have been sitting next to me when we Won the Superbowl.
    Now we say say bye to Drew Brees and we have to look forward from here. To Drew I say thank you for all the years man. It was so awesome to see him work his magic every week.
    R.I.P Connie May Melven. 2\17\46 to 9\14\2009 Wish you were still here.
    Peace out everyone. Take care and I hope you hug those that mean the most to you and let them know how much they mean to you.

    To say this was an instant NFC Championship Classic is an Understatement! This game was Epic on so many levels! You have two NFC Juggernauts with two Amazing, Passionate Fan Bases Squaring Off in an Amazing Sold out Stadium in Louisiana in a State and a Great City that Loves Football. The Minnesota Vikings Showed up and Showed out, that beat the Saints Statically in everything in that game! The True Turning Points were the Costly Turnovers! It wasn't because of some dumb azz Bountygate Horse Sh*t! The Saints Won that game Fair and Square. Plus Bad Officials are going to make Bad calls in Every Game thats a Given! Also, because of this game and the Saints Winning the Superbowl and being in a Small Media Market the N.F.L. lost so much Money 💰 Millions! The N.F.L. than changed the overtime rules that you can't win in overtime off of the 1st possession with just a Field Goal. So, thanks to the New Orleans Saints Winning that game, it changed the scope and the trajectory for Seasons to Come!

      @mr.gonzales3623 8 лет назад

      steve822009 u mean the D called the "dome patrol"? Yeah they were great too! They just weren't ball hawks, meaning always trying to take the ball away. 91 defense was good at stopping and shutting down other teams, and although 09' D was good at the same thing they still gave up big plays from time to time. Something u rarely seen from 91 D. The reason i still say the 09 D was the best is because of their ability to get takeaways. They were always looking for strips, sacks, and picks. So i guess u can say in the turnover category they were the best

    • @steve822009
      @steve822009 8 лет назад

      Yes, they forced 48 turnovers and held opponents to 7 pt or less in 8 games.but like I said offense wasn't great, did get 11 wins but lost in the wildcard I believe

      09 d had 39 takeaways in regular season and 8 in post season. But they did win SB so therefore they trump the 91 defense. It sad that the saints couldn't even get to the SB in 91-92. That d definitely deserved it.

      It does not make up for it really. I mean they had several cheap calls by the refs in overtime for them. Yet they still complain about one call that was not even game ending for them. They were still winning.

    One thing very few talk about the play resulting in the Favre INT: He could have thrown to Berrian (87) Favre looks to his right and throws to Berrian. That is a catch clearly (87) was Wide Open! Look (9:01) if you keep watching Berrian on a replay. No Saints player would have prevented a catch. Berrian should be just as upset as Favre if they watch replay of it!

      Damon Piaquadio Bountygate was purely a result of the impending concussion lawsuits the NFL was about to have taken out of their ass. It was nothing but a witch-hunt and the league’s “evidence” was flimsy at best. The actual injury data (collected through all 32 teams’ injury reports as mandated by the league) proved that there was no pay-to-injure system in place as the Saints had the 2nd fewest injuries to opponents between 2009 and 2011 (when the alleged “bounty system” was in place) behind only the San Diego Chargers. The league just needed a scapegoat to give the illusion to the courts that they even gave one shit about “player safety” despite lying for decades that the brain trauma suffered as a result of playing football and the degenerative state of these former players’ brains weren’t connected in anyway.

    how were the vikes even close. There were some pretty little plays from the saints on offense, mostly executed by JP, but that was an insane ride.
