HI mate, the dell says that this laptop only supports 250GB SSD, I can't believe you put a massive 1 TB in it. I am going for a Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB SSD. thanks for the great video

Dell says... But 1 TB works fine. U're welcome.

The only limit is memory, at the side of the CPU. The Disk, however is limited at the physical size(?)

To people who are asking about the ram 32gb. It can be upgraded to this by putting any ssds without cloning the data from hard drive and installing new Microsoft OS by USB. Thank you

Thank you so much for this! Dell tells me the laptop won't take 32GB memory (what can i say...??). If you had any problems so far please let me know, I will do the upgrade after the holidays.

They only test 16GB, but it doesnt mean it won't work with more ram, same goes with Smartphones, they will say it has Maximum storage capacity is 64GB, but it will work perfectly fine even with a 512gb SD Card, a lot of people don;t know this, companies do this so you can buy their upgraded models to make more profit, greedy people

Those DDR4 modules are too small for laptops. According to Crucial, the dimensions are 0.52 x 0.03 x 0.12 inches. Laptop RAM cards should be about 2.6 inches long.

Thanks for the video. It's amazing the motherboard recognized the 3 2gb RAM. How much did the RAM cost? May I ask what the part number of the RAM is?

      About $200 for 32Gb. This was "CRUCIAL CT16G4SFD824A DDR4 - 16Гб 2400, SO-DIMM, Ret". U're welcome.

    If the computer comes with 8GB on 1 slot can you install a 16GB upgrade on the second (8GB #1 & 16GB #2 )or do they have to be paired to be the same amount on both(8GB #1 & 8GB #2 ) or (16GB #1 & 16GB #2 )?

Does it work okay with the 32 GB? Per the Dell's website supported configurations are 4 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB.

Sure - more then 24 hours stay in MemTest (run 5 cycles without any errors) and about month of regular working with 32 Gb DDR4.
By the way. 16 GB was installed (as maximum capacity for DDR3) into my old Vostro3350 - in 2012.

Does battery consumption increase with 32gb ram? What about with the SSD drive?

    • @BorgyManotoyOnline

same question here... hope it wont affect the battery life

    • @t3st332
      @t3st332  6 лет назад +1

I did not benchmark battery before upgrade. Imho, 32 gb ram is more consumptible, but you don't need swapping with such large ram... And i guess SSD is more energy effective than HDD by design.

He probably plugged the new hard drive into a PC and installed Windows onto it before making this video. That's not necessary, though - you can create a USB boot disk with Windows on it, and install Windows from there after installing the new hard drive.

    • @TheAriumm

You can clone your original drive to the new one before you install it. The computer won't notice the difference.

He boot to the bios not windows. Pressing the F2. If you want to transfer the o.s. from the old hard drive, download the free software from the SSD purchased website, you probably will need a sata to usb adapter. Install their software and transfer the o.s. to the SSD. I know is a year ago but someone might benefit from this post. I dont believe that laptop supports M.2 SSD.

I made clean install of windows after upgrade. And about boot - this was bios (uefi) in the final part of video.

Www.Crucial.com is a great resource for upgrading your RAM and SSD, due to the scanner software they offer on their website. It’ll scan your computer, and tell you what’s currently installed on your computer, and he recommended upgrades for your model of computer.

Hello Friend, I have a Dell inspiron i13-5638-A20 from the 5000 series. I was wondering if it has an M2 SSD slot in that particular model. Grateful.

Hi, Aero. My 5368 - without M.2 ssd-slot. And you can just disassemble your laptop and check for M.2 availability.
