Thank you for this clip. I have successfully replaced the battery. Just a minor one: When disconnecting the battery your hand is obscuring your work. Thanks again from Germany.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, sorry about that - its quite hard working on the machine with the camera alongside me, I generally try to keep a clear view, but it isn't always easy.
Yeah, the minor one turned to a major one for me... Instead of disconnecting the cable from the motherboard socket, I gently ripped it with its socket attached from the motherboard, pins and all. The cable just sticks out now and I can't use my battery at all... Any suggestions? :(
Thank You! - worked great. I have ordered original battery and thought it will be ok because my Inspiron version was listed under it. But the shop contacted me and asked for laptop serial number (or TAG) and it occurred that I have chosen the wrong battery, and they switched it to the correct one on the order. So make sure your battery is the correct according to the serial number of your laptop, otherwise you risk damage to your laptop.
Thank you very much! Just successfully replaced my battery following your video step by step (with a lot more tries and fails to find the right size screwdriver). I didn't have a pry tool and used a flathead screwdriver (plus fingernails) which was fine, but actually may have slightly notched the casing by using something too hard. As someone else mentioned, it's not clear from the video how to disconnect the battery. In case anyone else is struggling with this, I just unscrewed the battery, lifted it out, and then it was much easier to unplug the old battery from the cable.
Thank you! This made it SO much easier and less daunting to change my laptop battery. Would not have been successful without you. No pry tool here so I used a large paper clip.
Thank you! This has given me so much more confidence in fixing my computer when the parts arrive. I think I'll actually be able to repair it myself instead of bringing it into a shop if it's ends up being this easy.
Great guide and spot on. I needed to switch the battery cable as well, as my replacement battery (non original) came without a cable. Ps. Didn't have a pry tool and used a metal butter knife with round edges (very carefully).
Excellent video. I struggled to remove the connector so I removed the battery screws first and lifted it so I could access the connector easier to remove it (had to get my wife to actually pull out the connector cos of my fat fingers!).
Thank you for making this! I probably couldn't have done it without this guide. Also, seeing the inside of yours compared to mine made me realize my speaker was installed wrong as well. Glad I did it, too. My old battery looks like it has swelled almost to the point of exploding.
@@CalebM_ Just under 2.5 years, but I also was really bad about leaving it plugged in constantly, so I'm sure I shortened the life more than it normally could handle.

Nice video, thanks. But pls, next time set the camera so that both your hands and the device manipulation are visible clearly. I cant see the way You disconnected the battery.
I can’t seem to disconnect the battery. I’ve been pushing down on the white plastic piece while pulling the black tag part, but it won’t come out. Help?
Thank you for explaining how to remove the Dell battery. What could.be the.issue if the battery is charging but will not bootup after removing the battery after my laptop froze?
Hey, thank you for this video. I replaced mine. The new battery I bought from Amazon looks exact however weighs just slightly more. current 6.10oz, new 6.25 oz. I noticed right away my touchpad malfunctioning and the right and left click not having any play. Won't click. Finally put back the old one once I realized the weight difference and I have the play back. But the touchpad seems to be a bit off still. Any thoughts. Going to buy both the touchpad and the battery straight from Dell. 110 for a refurbished battery and 19.00 for the touchpad.
It was a great tutorial but I have the problem that the laptop does not accurately gives me a time on how long the battery will last, it says about 2 hours, and it eds up being somewhere around 4 to 5, any solutions? ive tried uninstalling drivers, checking bios and, draining battery leaving it for 4 -8 hours like that and then recharging it and cant get it to work please help its driving me nuts that i cant fix it
Great tutorial. Does the battery cable need to be removed from the motherboard? Or can it be unplugged at the battery end? I bought a replacement battery and it does not come with a cable.

Thanks for this. Definitely easier when you start near the hinges at the back. I used an old credit card (actually half of one that was cut in two). Anything sharp could easily scratch it. It didn't ship with a battery cable so you could consider gently pulling the other end of the cable out of the battery - as she does here in this video : ruclips.net/video/l4_O1nwfDGk/видео.html
I found an even better video of disconnecting and reattaching the battery at this link. His removal and replacement of the back, though, made me cringe a bit! Lol! WHY DID YOU REPACE THE BATERRY?
I noticed you did not worry about grouding yerself even though you were handling the hard drive . Why is that ?
Will it effect the performance??
No. If you have a failing battery then replacing it will improve battery life, but it shouldn't impact performance.
@@BrueComputing My Laptop is showing no battery is detected how to fix this problem??
I'd check in the BIOS if it is showing no battery or a battery with zero capacity. Replacing the battery should fix though.
