I honestly can’t disagree with a single game on this list. These are all really great! DQ 5 does not get enough love. Also, glad you like Suikoden 2, hopefully we get those remasters soon.
DQ5 does get enough love, DQ as a series is just not all that popular outside Japan. Inside Japan DQ5 is perhaps the most popular entry in the series with pop culture references about it everywhere. They even made a fairly high budget 3D animated movie based on DQ5 that is available on Netflix. DQ11 is the only Dragon Quest game that received any substantial marketing campaign in the West though.
Excellent list!! I played and loved many games here ... FF VI, Chrono Trigger, Star Ocean 2nd Story, Dragon Quest V, Secret of Mana, Chrono Cross, and Suikoden II. Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, and Dragon Quest V in my top 10-15 games of all time.
Solid list. Can’t say I agree with you 100%. Chrono Cross just never hit home with me, but I get it. When I think of the classics lufia and breath of fire come to mind, but again solid choices and you’ve got a new subscriber. Good job pal.
I gotta play some more older games but it's wild how I'd put FF 4, 5, and 6, and then DQ 3, 4, and 5 on my list... those games were just so damn good. other than that can't really argue with any of these, Earthbound was not for me but I can't deny it's pretty special Breath of Fire IV and Grandia/Grandia II are the only ones I feel are really missing here, plus old school Pokemon because of how significant it was. Xenogears, again not my thing but a very special and important game. and I want to play Lufia 2. I would also probably love Ogre Battle 64 with how much I've enjoyed Unicorn Overlord. I do feel like Tales of the Abyss is a bit too "new" to be on this list lol. I really want a port though
Trials of Mana is one of the best remakes ever,I STILL play it after getting all the achievments on Steam,Wasn't a fan of Chrono Cross,it seemed to have too many redundant characters I'd never use,Suikoden 1/2 have same problem but enjoyed both a lot.
No listing of one of the 3 sega JRPGs like Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia. It's so easy for anyone to just notice a Nintendo JRPG but alot of people still don't know about the SEGA JRPGs and some of these are insanely good.
Final fantasy 6 is one of my two favorite final fantasies tied with 9. Chrono trigger is amazing. The soundtrack. The story. The characters. Perfection. I love the time travel and wish more games did this. Radiant Historia has the second best time travel mechanic in my opinion. Never played Earthbound and probably won't. I'm not a fan of not seeing your characters on battle. Major pet peeve of mine. Tactics ogre is the best anti war game ever made. Such an amazing tactical RPG. I own all 3 versions that have been released in the West. I've never played any star ocean games. But 2 looks really good. I own dragon quest 5 on my 3DS but haven't played it yet.... one of many on my backlog. Secret of mana was great at the time but I feel like it's agreed really poorly. I got the collection of mana and played it with my daughter and the AI, the hit detection, and the terrible system of leveling magic... I feel like Seiken Densetsu 3 aged a lot better. Secret of mana soundtrack is amazing though. My wife bought me tales of the abyss for the 3ds back in the day and I've never gotten around to playing it... Another in the backlog. Chrono Cross is amazing. I loved playing it back in the day. Amazing soundtrack. Loved the alternate dimensions. Suikoden 2 is the greatest JRPG ever made. I adore it. Can't wait for the HD remaster. Great video like always my dude.
@@slam-zany i used to hope to get them before Eiyuden Chronicle, but now I just have to survive another three weeks anyway, so I might be able to wait a little longer. But yeah, I am looking forward to it and hope Konami have not messed up as they are wont to do
I missed Chrono Trigger as a kid because I hopped into JRPGs from Pokemon Yellow and thought it looked “old” (I was like 8 or 9). I played it for the first time during the pandemic and got so pissed at younger me for not playing it sooner.
It’s okay, it just gets better with time IMO. I myself got into JRPGs through Pokémon Red and my friend told me I absolutely had to play Chrono Trigger. He even lent me his SNES to do it
Why people lie about Chrono Trigger battle system? Is not tactical 😂 You can’t move the characters around. Is just turn-based. “Position is important “, no is not, every time you start the battle at the same spot.
@@paulhenri5902 I'd say more like position of the enemies since it changes AOE attacks. But the players placement is pretty random unless a boss fight.
I feel like Secret of Mana is one of the worst RPGs on the SNES. The art looks great, the music is astounding, but everything else is a mess. Secret of Mana 2 is the game we should have gotten.
Alo ok games, but more so clickbait. Even ff3 cant hold a candlestick to lufia 2. Robotrek, Brandish, destiny of an emperor, 7th saga, brainlord, and a few DQ games. Lufia 2 stands as best rpg on snes. Guardian legend is cool to.
@@gmoney0987 awesome game. One other classic I didn't mention was crystalis . Great rpg. That, destiny of an emperor and guardian legend are best of nes.
@@TheFirehands150 I can understand your thinking, but lufia 2 not only has many tools, puzzles, pets, random 100 floor dungeon, but stories from the npcs that stay with you. A woman chasing love but rejected. 2 eager hot headed bro competitors, but friendship. Here who marries, has kid. Both parents die. No one really dies in ff6. The npc stories are good, but kinda generic vs lufia 2. I really only remember loche the thief from ff7, the martial art guy was ok to but besides having s brother forget his story. But I can still tell you all lufia npc stories decades later.
Suikoden 2, chrono trigger, FF 6, DQ 5. This is one of the best lists yet man. Classics for sure.
Indeed a list filled with classics.

DQ V was incredible.
I agree and I feel like it’s not mentioned enough.
@slam-zany I always go with Debora every time I play it. Sometimes Nera, never Bianca, though.
DQ 5 is indeed incredible 😃

Tales of the Abyss is awesome! I would love a remaster/remake for that one.

I loved Grandia, I would have them on my list as well.
@@Gamesrcool the battle system is still close to unmatched imo
Nice list, anyone who plays all these games will truly know the meaning of epic questing
I beat Chrono Trigger for the first time not too long ago, and started Dragon Quest V not too long after. They are both something very special.
Great list :). I would enjoy seeing subsequent videos on the other classic games you recommend
Thank you!!

I wished the remake allowed co-op. It'd have been perfect if it did.
Lunar deserves a spot on the list for sure. Classic
Aye, Silver Star Story and Eternal Blue were great! Heard the third one is a pass.
I cant wait for Abyss to finally get a remaster it really is a great classic

Well done, great list
DQ5 has me shook on each playthrough. Only one I haven't played on this list is Tactics Ogre gotta jump on that!

Kind of odd to mostly use footage from 1, though :D
