I thought this was about remastered game's, why is Final Fantasy 13 included if that one has never been remastered or remade? Suikoden 2 was a big surprise for me when I first played it, not expecting much out of it and it quickly changed my mind making it one of my all time favorite games! Looking forward to it's remaster and the spiritual successor Eiuyuden Chronicles.
The Dark Cloud series is also worth mentioning, another good experimental blend of many different genres and mechanics (only played the second installment but heard the first is good too)
What is sad is Level 5 feel the first game in the series is the worst game they have made. I mean 2 is a bit better, but when I want a simple dungeon crawler DC1 is my go to.
Tales of Symphonia is a great game, but *the remaster is only 30fps.* There is no hack to enable 60fps. This means the best way to play the game remains to emulate it in Dolphin, at 60fps. I normally buy remasters of games I love but I gave this a hard miss. If they want my money, tough: Do it right.

Kaldaien spent a short bit of time patching ToS for 60fps and discovered that even though it worked, it caused fundamental animations (walking and such) to go out of whack. To fix this would require some effort from the folks who have access to the source. Probably not much effort, but some. It was a quick and dirty port-the bare minimum necessary to get it running on PC. They didn't even support anti-aliasing and other features; Kaldaien forced support for such things, effectively doing more work than the devs bothered to. But when I originally played this game, it was 60fps, and I am simply not going to step backwards from that. If I feel the itch, I'll watch a let's play.
Yes, FFX is the goat, imo. Then they ruined the gameplay. FfXII was decent, but definitely not a top FF game, it was shorter, story wasn't great, & battles weren't turn based. It was at the bottom of the pile for me, but a bad FF is still better than lots of other games/genres for me.
Instant thumbs up for including Legend of Mana... I loved the game so much on the original Playstation, I bought the remaster three times lol.. I hope it gets a remake like Trials of Mana did though..
In happy the didn’t change anything in crisis core. We don’t need a new story I just want the same classic I grew up one. Wasn’t really happy with the changes in FFVII remake tbh.
@@johnlawful2272 it's a remake of ffvii. It's literally in the name. I didn't like ffvii remake changes either. I definitely won't be buying a ps5 just to keep playing through it. I'm a fan of turn based rpg's & final fantasy obviously doesn't want to go that direction anymore. Persona & dragon quest are my new favs.
FF13's biggest mistake was its first act, before the player exits to the overland world. The mistake was compounded by having the gatekeeping boss of said act be the very first encounter in the game where the player is certain to die if they did absolutely zero grinding beforehand, which caused *MANY* players to simply give up on the game at that point-right before the game has a chance to actually get good. Players were also put off by the whiny nature of some of the characters. This is a real shame, as the 13-2 and particularly 13-3 were excellent JRPGs that so many people would never give a chance due to their pedigree.
wow, that Grandia part almost made me sick with those crazy camera movement, the screen shaking and menu blinking during fights, and that moving background on the main menu. It's impressive in its own right.
Grandia wasn't locked Dreamcast though it came to PlayStation 1 also Romancing Saga remasters 2 and 3 are available on PlayStation and Xbox Nintendo switch
The all time best has never got a remake, remastered or a look at. Xenogears. Don't care if it's 20 more years and I'm a senior citizen I'll buy and play it if they ever decide to remake it.

So, suikoden didn't have great graphics or gameplay, but was great? U seem to mention the story being good, but is that it? I've heard so much hype behind these games, I'm bound to be disappointed when i finally play them, anyways, but I'm very curious why they get so much hype...? I started gaming w colecovision & Atari 2600, & i somehow missed those games, & never heard about them from friends, even though JRPG's were my favorite genre. I'm mad at myself for that, but i still can't find good information on why they were so great except for nostalgia (which colors our views quite heavily). I hope there's more to it than that, tho. I try not to get too excited, since i plan on being disappointed. I am more hyped for 100 heroes, tho, & hope the devs can bring suikoden's style into the current generation.
I don't think it's considered great just because of nostalgia. It was released during (which is considered by many) the golden age of JRPGs where a lot of classic titles we're released, yet Suikoden still stood out the majority. There are so many aspects great about it and it actually held up well even with the passage of time. Obviously I wouldn't be able to explain everything I like about it on this video since it is a list-type content where I talk through each games quickly. Maybe I'll create a standalone video regarding Suikoden games in the future to explain them all in detail. For now though, if you only have time to try 1 game from the Suikoden series. I suggest playing Suikoden 2. If you can wait for the remeastered version, then go with that for HD experience 😁

I hated old school graphics when i lived through those generations, so i take every opportunity not to go back there. The 2d hd remakes are a great tool that makes 16 bit games tolerable to me, so I can't wait for the dragon quest 3 2dhd remake. That's also why i will probably prefer the newer game the suikoden devs make, but i still wanna try out those games when the remaster comes out. Maybe they'll do a remake one day for people like me, who prefer updated graphics. 🤞🤷🏼♂️
chrono cross backgrounds are fd up its better to play in the emulator with geometry correction and 1.5 or 2x resolution size imo or use a original ps1 and old tv idk i never tried, chrono cross aspect ratio is wrong they use 4:3 not 8:7 so i just play the emulator with the real aspect ratio, grandia has a disgusting blurry filter in the sprites
Thank you for NOT including the Lunar series. The packaging and all the Working Designs extras were great but all OG Lunar Sega CD fans wanted was Lunar 3, not kiddie/cringey watered down Remakes. Final Fantasy X deserves a mention. Subscribed
Real, coming sometime this year. The battle sprites could have some retouching, but they may have left it that way on purpose, everything else looks stellar.

Zodiac Age is so underrated. I always use that as an example of how to improve a game with a remaster

I think they worked on the PS3 version of the game which I still don't understand how doing so prevented going 60 frames per second.

@@aliatef7203 You do have a point. Normally I direct MSI Afterburner to limit my framerate to 15 whenever I play RPGs, to give it that "FF7" feel.

Final Fantasy XIII is available on the MS store but that’s just the 360 version. Did I miss a stealth remaster?
It's xbox enhanced. You buy that 360 version and it will look remastered once you play it.
